    Alarm

How about the siren from Silent Hill?
  2. That's assuming the goal is to own property. Looking at it the other way - buying is like throwing your money down the drain. The building and its infrastructure is entirely your responsibility to maintain, repair and fix over a long period of time. The value of the property could either increase or decrease. If you ever want or need to sell, there's no guarantee that a buyer will pay the price you ask for it. Renting and owning have their pros and cons and I don't really see one as better than the other, it entirely depends on people's situations and what they want.
  3. But neither have you, it seems? So your purchase could potentially have more of a negative environmental impact than a positive one. I don't know either, without looking in to it - which is something I would do if I considering replacing something that works perfectly fine as it is, with something new.
  4. Over the expected lifetime of the new TV, is the difference in power consumption between the old one and the new one enough to offset the costs of manufacture and distribution of the new TV and disposal of the old one?
  5. Good cable management and cable tidy accessories, and cables of suitable length - not too short and not too long.

    Sugru

Yep, love the stuff! I've used it to improve light switches; and fix: a car keyfob, lid on a mini kitchen bin and, combined with Lego, the access panel on a boiler. I'm soon hoping to use it to repair a crack in a camera lens casing. It's awesome
  7. Postal staff working in dangerous areas wear chainmail. I watched a man crawl out of a building, crying, covered in strands of wool. I thought, "he's been through the mill."
  8. Me and this other bloke fought over the last roll of grass in the garden centre. It was a real turf war. I wanted to make my garden more space-themed so I laid astroturf.
  9. All computers at the seaside are connected via a Pier-to-Pier network. Kids going on school trips to the seaside are told not to bury their Head in the sand.
  10. I think one of the contributing factors is that the rates have been increased so high (probably unfairly) that many customers who were once able to pay are no longer able to.
  11. My free and open source room booking system, Classroombookings, might be something to look at as well. It will easily support a recurring bookings and a 2 week timetable.
  12. That deserves a thunderous applause.
  13. From my experience UHF ones are much better than VHF ones, but I'm not sure how they compare to 2.4GHz ones. The school I worked at previously had 2 sets of Sennheiser UHF wireless mics which were very good quality - but I don't know what model they are They had a decent selection of channels to choose from so there shouldn't be any interference issues with other mics.
  14. It is a pretty cool feature! Recently I started collecting "interesting" local changes. Have a look - Changes
  15. I've upgraded Zimbra and Ubuntu several times as well in the past - and as long as you have a plan for doing the correct versions of the OS and Zimbra in the right order, doing as tomdawson said is pretty much the gist of it. If you do it in a VM you could take snapshots after each successful step just incase the next one doesn't go to plan. Have you ever used any custom scripts on the server to manage accounts or anything like that? Just make sure you migrate those too
  16. I think the benefit of autocomplete for contacts outweighs any possible gains from turning it off for the minority of instances when these things happen. It really is down to human error if the incorrect recipients are chosen. Making staff aware that once a message is sent, it is delivered to the recipient's mailbox almost immediately, might just remind them to double-check who they are sending it to, particularly if messages are of a sensitive nature. But then - is email the best tool for communicating those?
  17. Cheers Shaun Was there any need for such a prickly remark?
  18. Thanks everyone!!
  19. My move from Be* to Sky was this Monday, which was also messed up. I had a static IP with Be, and I wanted one with Sky as well - a letter from Sky told me that they'd send all the relevant IP details before the move. That didn't happen, and I ended up without internet on the move date. In the end, I had to call support (10 minute queue time) who just advised to reset the router back to default (which worked). Annoying situation due to it being poorly managed. And I don't think I'm the only one, judging by message on forums and twitter.
  20. Hi The CSV file gets uploaded to the "temp" folder, which should be in the root of your Classroombookings install.
  21. My career consists of 8.5 years as IT Technician in a secondary, then Web Developer at a small online software startup. With the time I spent at the school, I was lucky enough for it to provide me with many opportunities to discover, learn and enhance my skills, which (eventually) put me on the path I'm on now. It wasn't planned - it sort of just happened because that's the area I enjoyed and focused on over the years.
  22. Sorry, at the moment it's a bit difficult to say when that will be... just keep an eye on this thread for updates though
  23. Hi Steve Thanks Yes that feature, stock level configurable for each consumable, is planned for the next version
  24. Hi. You can get the Classroombookings zip file directly here - Classroombookings 1.0.2 zip.
