Hey sadams1980, thanks for checking out Sitejobs! Sadly, the project hasn't been updated in a long time, so I'm not sure how useful it's going to be for you! It doesn't have a calendar though - it's just a simple categorised list. The implementation of it was also very much tied to the way it worked in the school I worked at, which would take some time and development skills to overcome: Its authentication was handled via IIS Integrated Windows Authentication, with Classic ASP scripts - This could be re-created but it would have to be tailored to your setup. The method for staff to log issues was also only built in to the school's Intranet (then also Classic ASP) It's just a form that submits to a Sitejobs page, but this would need to be created, hosted somewhere etc. Some of the code has certain values hard-coded into the files, too, so you would also need to update those. I'm also not sure if it would work with more modern versions of PHP, given its age. If after all of that, you are comfortable with code and making the changes, let me know how far you've got and where you need some specific guidance and I'll see what I can do. Craig.

From about PHP 5.4, I think, you can use the "new" array syntax like this (just remove the 'array' word): $days = ["Monday", "Tuesday", ...];

Hi Charlie, classroombookings developer here! Can you please check that the database actually got populated with tables, and in the users table, that there is an entry for the account you created on the install page? Can you also let me know which PHP version the server is running? Thanks! Craig.

Hi James! That sort of thing is certainly possible with the Google Maps API. The maps API for websites is javascript-based, so the main task involved will be to get the necessary data from the database and then eventually into something useable with maps. A popular way of doing this would be to create an API. The purpose of this would be to connect to the database, find the information it needs, then process it and transform it into the correct format so that maps can use it. The way this is done will mostly be decided by what type of database you have, scripting technologies available, and coding knowledge. Another aspect that might need to be done is to "geocode" the practice addresses, if the Lat and Lng coordinates aren't already available. Google have APIs to do this as well.

Hi @timbo343! I'm afraid there isn't anything like that in CRBS at the moment! How's your PHP these days? It probably wouldn't be too difficult to do; the main things being: deciding under which conditions to send it, defining who it goes to, and what's in it!

I built a free and open source app for this purpose a while ago, called SiteJobs. You may need a bit of technical knowledge to get it up and running though.

If I was approaching this in MySQL, I might do something like the following. I have a feeling you might be using MSSQL or Access SQL, which I'm not overly familiar with the syntax differences, so you may need to adjust slightly. SELECT date, SUM(IF(year = "Year 7", 1, 0)) AS "Year 7", SUM(IF(year = "Year 8", 1, 0)) AS "Year 8", SUM(IF(year = "Year 9", 1, 0)) AS "Year 9", SUM(IF(year = "Year 10", 1, 0)) AS "Year 10", SUM(IF(year = "Year 11", 1, 0)) AS "Year 11" FROM tablename GROUP BY date ORDER BY date DESC Haven't tested it, but hopefully points you in the right direction.

Redoing the school website

I'm using the ProcessWire CMS a lot these days. Really great to give you total control over the structure of your data and pages. There isn't a concept or ecosystem of "themes" as such, like there is with some , so you do have to provide your own HTML & CSS - be that through your own skills or a third-party HTML template. Not for everyone, but it does mean you avoid plugin and theme compatibility issues often found with other CMSs, and the API is very very good, and inspired by jQuery. -

What did you do after leaving Educational IT Support?
webman replied to flyinghaggis's topic in General Chat
I worked in a medium secondary with @bossman for 8.5 years, and then moved to a small company doing web development. Work ranges from small websites and bespoke web applications for charities/SMEs, up to software-as-a-service for NHS, local authorities and private health. The team is still small, and there is some variation in the role, but it's not a multitude of responsibilities. A major difference is the lack of downtime that you find with the school holidays. -
Snap! A while ago, we observed some random person offering these services on Facebook, so had a good chat about it. The GDC - General Dental Council - have lots of info about it here: Tooth Whitening. They regularly prosecute people who carry out whitening unlawfully.

Here's my attempt at this challenge Tried to keep it simple and with comments where necessary. Start Sequence Stop Sequence <br /> var TrafficLights = (function() {<br /> <br /> // The image<br /> var imageTag = document.getElementById("lightImg");<br /> // Keep track of whether the sequence is running<br /> var running = false;<br /> // The number of seconds between light changes<br /> var interval = 1;<br /> // Different stages of the traffic light<br /> var stages = [<br /> "Red.jpg",<br /> "Red Amber.jpg",<br /> "Green.jpg",<br /> "Amber.jpg"<br /> ];<br /> // Current stage of the traffic light<br /> var stage = 0;<br /> // Timer for automatically changing light<br /> var timer = null;<br /> <br /> /**<br /> * Start the traffic light sequence<br /> *<br /> */<br /> function start() {<br /> // Mark that the light sequence is running<br /> running = true;<br /> // Tell the light to change<br /> changeLight();<br /> }<br /> <br /> /**<br /> * Stop the sequence from running<br /> *<br /> */<br /> function stop() {<br /> // Mark that the sequence is not running<br /> running = false;<br /> // Stop the automatic timer from running<br /> clearInterval(timer);<br /> }<br /> <br /> /**<br /> * Change the light to the next one in the sequence<br /> *<br /> */<br /> function changeLight() {<br /> <br /> // If the timer is not running, this function does not need to do anything<br /> if (running === false) {<br /> clearInterval(timer);<br /> return;<br /> }<br /> <br /> // If the current stage gets higher than the nubmer of stages there are, reset to 0<br /> if (stage >= stages.length) {<br /> stage = 0;<br /> }<br /> <br /> // Get the image from the list of stages<br /> var image = stages[stage];<br /> // Update the image tag<br /> imageTag.src = image;<br /> imageTag.alt = image;<br /> // Increase the current stage by 1<br /> stage++;<br /> // Set a timeout to change the light at the next interval<br /> timer = setTimeout(changeLight, interval * 1000);<br /> }<br /> <br /> // These functions will be available on the `TrafficLights` object to allow interaction<br /> return {<br /> start: start,<br /> stop: stop<br /> }<br /> <br /> })();<br />

I recommend Google Analytics too, it's pretty good. But if you're after a self-hosted solution, PiWiK is probably the next best thing.
