  1. If Apple base their logo off a piece of common fruit, then in my opinion they have no claim to the use of potentially similar-looking logos. If Apple's logo had more uniqueness about it and then Woolworths started manufacturing electronic goods (e.g. selling products in the same market) - only then should Apple start shouting foul play.
  2. http://www.cztechnologies.net/images/call_center.jpg Good afternoon, EduGeek, how may I help?
  3. ERROR: TOO_MUCH_DUST.

    Magazine Software

InDesign or Scribus, depending on budget. We use InDesign for our booklets/prospectus/newsletters.
  5. Can you please back your assertion up with some facts? I would class our support team very skilled, yet we still run an RM CC3 network; and it is nowhere close to a trade-off. We have the best of both worlds, to use a cliché. A solid Windows-based network, with tools to make our job easier, which makes us more efficient. More time for us to better support our users; and to learn other technologies which make things even better - virtualisation, Linux, open source, web-based stuff etc etc. Please stop trying to use CC3 to insult people's skillset.

    Hyperlink in CCS

You can't make something hyperlinkable in CSS. You either need an tag in the HTML or a JavaScript onclick() event on whichever element #header-bg is applied to.
  7. Currently on CC3, migrating to CC4 within the next 12 months.
  8. What SQL is this - MySQL, MS, Postgres? What is the exact relationship between the two tables?
  9. Lol - that's one way of looking at it It is good... albeit confusing at times. Take Oracle, for example, and the method used to insert multiple rows in one statement: INSERT ALL INTO table VALUES (1, 'foo', 'bar') INTO table VALUES (2', 'abc', 'def') SELECT * FROM dual; You select from a magical built-in table called 'dual'.
  10. Hehe, must be right then
  11. Probably something like... SELECT DISTINCT(authors.authorname) FROM authors, books WHERE authors.authorname = books.authorname AND books.title != "Zen and the Art of Educational IT"
  12. No problem. I understand completely where you are coming from. My colleague (bossman) tried to get a definitive answer on what we could and couldn't do (as far as copyright was concerned) with material from the Internet. It was very difficult to track down, so it's something that is quite likely (or should be) a concern to other schools. The most important factor probably being the educating of staff and students as to what is allowed.
  13. I think this is the thread you mean: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/web-development/18154-getty-images-request-payment.html
  14. We've used Millennium Business Systems own-brand PCs for ages. Never had any problems with them like the ones you describe with Stone machines.
  15. You think that the "skill" involved in being a footballer warrants their astronomic wages? Compare that to often-stressful life-saving careers such as fire fighters and life-boat personnel. Correct.
  16. I wouldn't pay to watch any match on any medium; because, as bossman so eloquently put, it's just "over paid bunch of inarticulate Neanderthals kicking a bag of wind around".
  17. Not forgetting the UK broadband "infrastructure"... That's precisely the reason why I can't see TV-over-the-Internet working at the moment.
  18. Do you really need UPSs that heavy for a couple of switches? I was thinking more along the lines of the small desktop-type ones. Although, if your cabs are fixed to a strong enough wall using appropriate methods (4 huge bolts for each corner?) you could probably put anything on them
  19. I know what H&S is I meant what H&S issues do you think that would pose?
  20. H&S.. ?
  21. Put the UPS on top of the cabinet if there's enough clearance?
  22. Netgear - I have 2 mini Gigabit switches at home like this. Once, one of the gigabit Cisco switches failed at the school, so I put in one of my Negear ones - it supported the whole school network for about an hour until we got a replacement Cisco one delivered.
  23. Bossman - look! It's going up and up! http://www.speedtest.net/result/583418468.png
  24. @Arcath: Yes, even better if they did that! To get the bare-basics, you might be able to use strip_tags() and then nl2br().
  25. The real mistake is copying directly from Word. Copy to Notepad first to remove all formatting, then copy to the web as normal.
