We had a similar problem a while ago, and was to do with the spanning tree setting on the switch. The machine would boot up and immediately try to join the domain; but as the network had not finished negotiating (it would take 30 or more seconds), there was no network connection available to carry out the operation. I would recommend checking these settings on the switch or connect it to another (unmanaged) switch. It's also worth checking the setup user credentials are correct. There should also be some log files written to \Program Files\Research Machines - but these will only tell you what is/is not happening - not why.

I experienced a similar issue a few years ago. If your server uses the Mbox format for all mail accounts (where all messages are stored in a single file) then SquirrelMail would have to load this into memory each time a user logs in. When all users constantly access email it's a huge strain. If you just migrate it to another server, it may perform slightly better but it won't be tackling the main cause.

Reminds me of the Family Guy episode where Peter Griffin tries to get rid of the frog/toad with the lid from a card board box but continually fails.

Usually you do Full Control at share-level, and then set NTFS security at folder/filesystem level to lock it down as to who can do what.

Redirected cokkies permissions error? Oo-err missus - leave my cokkies alone! I would imagine that the permissions should be set on the folder/share that H: maps to.

Connecting non RM laptops to a CC3 network
webman replied to pbed77789's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Yes, this is possible - the shared "drives" are just standard Windows shares on a server. So just browse to the UNC path of the shared area and provide credentials when prompted. E.g. Start > Run: \\rmc-svr-001\rmshared documents or \\rmc-svr-001\rmstaff (substituting in your own server names.) You might need to supply the username in the format of DOMAIN\username. But remember that Windows will probably try and remember the logon details, so this is no good if the laptop is shared amongst users. -
I jest! Hope you've had a good break though
