Using the eno TCO calculator, they would cost us 345 "USD" more than our current Promethean IWB setups. They also conveniently forget to include cost of batteries for the pen/stylus.

As a contrast, I bought a used book on there today for a penny.

It's not a perfect solution, but Zimbra has the ability to not deliver messages that contain words that are part of a custom-defined list of bad worlds ("bad word filter" - it's in the wiki). These messages can be dropped into a special mailbox, monitored by certain staff, and the offending students dealt with appropriately. Here, email is part of most, if not all, ICT-based curriculums; so the onus is on us as a school to provide an email facility for this purpose. It's much better that we have our own system which we can monitor ourselves, than to let them access their own Hotmail/Yahoo/Google/ISP accounts.

Clipboard transfer from a remote control/desktop program that views the PCs?

I think they'd get the idea pretty quickly if they were taught how to use an FTP client properly and what one is and why it is used. E.g. The left pane is the files you've been working on, the right pane is the folder on the server. Copy from one to the other...

Do you have any server-side scripting capabilities on the web server, e.g. PHP? My thinking is this: Point the image to a PHP script (bear with me) The PHP script will check if the real image on disk is complete (using getimagesize() for example, it should fail if image is not valid) Set the content-type to image/jpeg If image valid from step (2) then respond with the image If not valid, then respond with another image that simply says 'Please wait...'

Good design; but it doesn't appear to validate though.

Cool I do realise the older that CRBS gets, the more difficult it is to get running on latest software; which is really awkward when you come to set it up. That's mostly my fault for not continually updating it, so for that I apologise. But to make up for that, version 2 will kick ass

I very kindly put together some notes when I set it up, but beware it's slightly out of date by today's latest versions. FTP and Web server [bishop Barrington IT Wiki]

We have a linux server that does this and it authenticates users via active directory. Vsftpd as the FTP server and Apache serving the pages. Set up by yours truly, a linux hippy.

Are you using the mod_rewrite feature? Also, what does the $config['index_page'] line look like in system/application/config.php? Check the Apache error logs (should be an icon for this in the WAMP menu) to see if there are any clues there.

Stick the logo at the top and the contact details/address at the bottom, maybe with a horizontal rule just above that. Centre everything and there you go.

OK, cool. What you need to do now is create a database & username for CRBS, and then tell CRBS what details to use. The easiest way to do this is through phpMyAdmin. Click on Privileges > Add new user. In the Login Information box, enter a username in the username field, choose Local from the Host drop-down box, then enter a password twice in the username fields. In the Database for user box, choose 'Create database with same name and grant all privileges.' Finally, click the Go button at the bottom-right of the page. Next, go to the classroombookings folder within the www directory. Then go to system/application/config and open database.php in a text editor. Fill in the appropriate variables - database, username and password. If you've made the required changes to config.php already (according to the instructions on the google code site wiki); then it should work

@rob998: The errors look like they're to do with using an older version of PHP, which the CRBS framework doesn't work on. Have you tried installing/changing to an older version of PHP (steps mentioned in a post of mine a few posts before)? I have tried dropping the latest version of the CodeIgniter framework into a CRBS installation which gets around the PHP version issue, but there are lots of code incompatibilities between CRBS and the framework itself (deprecated functions etc).

What about a tick-box? Below the message textarea in the "Miscellaneous Options" box, along the same lines of what is already in there? E.g. "[ ]Target users with @"

We simply just don't allow access to any third-party web-based email providers. We have our own email server so there's no reason for anyone to use anything different.

Hopefully user-settable, otherwise it could be open to spamming?

We could also rename the site EduTwitGeekBook.

We had lots of problems with the Nelson Thrones maths software but eventually got it sorted with help from support. Try and get in touch with Stuart Williams. Email technicalsupport{@}nelsonthornes.com or call 01242 267383. As far as I'm aware, there are currently no official/public-domain instructions for a share-based install because it's not approved by them, but it has worked for us when guided to do it over the phone.
