[news] Bonkers British MPs rant: 5G signals cause cancer
webman replied to unixman_again's topic in Jokes/Interweb Things
This was doing the rounds locally on Facebook last year... They went on to claim that these "covert" 5G trials were responsible for killing birds. Just found a local video as well regarding trees... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcysZ65Mpp8 -
Thanks! I know, it is for a lot of people. It's something I'm keen to add at some point as I appreciate it makes things a lot easier! There is only so much a team of one person with limited time can do

Hi! Slightly biased, but I'm the author of classroombookings I don't have SIMS or AD integrations at the moment, but it's open source and freely available. It supports as many rooms/users as you want, as well as multi-week timetables if that's your thing. The other popular choices people on here will recommend are RoomBookingSystem which does have more integrations, and MRBS which is another open source project.

Classroombookings Email Notification
webman replied to seventh7's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Hi seventh7, author of classroombookings here Unfortunately this feature isn't built yet, sorry! It's still on the roadmap for development, but there are a few things that needed to be done before now, and some more still in the queue before email is added. Craig. -

Classroom bookings install help.
webman replied to profit10's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Thanks @J_Parton Happy for me to add that to the documentation? What name would you like it crediting as (if any)? That's right, they aren't used at the moment. I intended to use the departments for reports, and the email address for notifications, and phone number for display purposes for other staff to get in touch. These will become more useful and used in other places in the future -

Hi! I haven't come across this before, but research is pointing to an issue with MySQL version 8 having a new password storage method that the current version of PHP doesn't have support for. The easiest way around this seems to be to use MySQL 5.x (which uses the older but more widely supported password storage method) instead of 8. An alternative is to change the MySQL config (my.ini or my.cnf file) to use the older method, restart the server, and re-create (delete old one first) the user. [mysqld] default-authentication-plugin=mysql_native_password From here: https://mysqlserverteam.com/upgrading-to-mysql-8-0-default-authentication-plugin-considerations/ But I haven't tested that and not 100% sure if it will cure the problem, or cause other issues! -
Hi again! I think I've managed to track it down and fix it... it seems the chosen week wasn't being passed into the checking function, so it was falling back on the week assigned to the date - or today's date if that wasn't present either. Sorry about that! Can you try replacing the two files at the locations below in your installation, with new ones to see if that has resolved it? application/controllers/Bookings.php application/models/Bookings_model.php If you're comfortable with code you can view only the changed lines here: changes. Let me know how that goes please! Craig.

I only use them as a home broadband customer, but they are excellent.

Thanks for the message, that video was very helpful! In response to the second message, making recurring bookings in bulk - from the bookings page - doesn't go through the same checking process at the moment - so that is one way to do it for bookings that have the same details I will look into why that's happening and hopefully get a fix out for that very soon

Hi executiverocker, author of classroombookings here! Sorry to hear you've had this problem. This isn't something I've had reported to me before or that I've noticed myself, so it's a new one to me. That message is in response to the system making sure there isn't a booking already scheduled for the same time as the one you're making. But if there definitely isn't one, this isn't ideal! I haven't managed to reproduce the issue and get that error to come up when it shouldn't do. Could you give me some more detail about it please? Things like... What are the steps you take immediately before seeing the message? What method are you taking to get it? E.g. Ticking the boxes on the bookings page and clicking Make Recurring button, or clicking a single "Book" link and filling in the form? What values are involved - e.g. date, week, day etc. If you could include screenshots that would be really useful as well. Finally, if you are desparate to get some bookings in and want to temporarily disable this check - it's not a feature that is simply enabled or disabled, but it's possible to edit the code to bypass it. File: application/controllers/Bookings.php @ Line 472 private function _check_unique_booking($data) { return true; // <-- add this line here $bookings = $this->bookings_model->GetUnique(array( 'date' => $data['date'], 'period_id' => $data['period_id'], 'room_id' => $data['room_id'], 'booking_id' => $data['booking_id'], )); return count($bookings) == 0; } Thanks, Craig.

For the hostname, try using 'localhost' or '127.0.0.1'. And make sure MySQL is running on port 3306. -

Hi Unfortunately Microsoft SQL Server databases aren't supported either... Classroombookings requires either MySQL or MariaDB (all details on what is supported is on the requirements page). -

I'm not sure. If nothing else uses PHP then you could be fine... or perhaps try to work out what the differences are between your non-working server's configurations and your working one/an online guide? And then change settings/values until it works. -

OK, it looks like there are some issues with it running the actual PHP language. Unfortuntaely at this stage it is beyond what I can help with, as I don't use IIS or have any facilities to test or try things. What I would advise is to find a guide online for installing PHP 7 on your version of Windows and IIS, and follow every step until it is working. -

OK, great! To test PHP is working, create a plain text file called test.php with this contents: and place it in the document root, or any web-accessible folder. Then visit this page in a browser - e.g. http://192.168.1.1/test.php. It should show a page detailing the PHP settings if it is set up and working. If not, you will still get an error and that means PHP isn't working. Next steps are to check the web server error logs for any clues. I don't know where these will be - but I think IIS has a settings/properties screen that lets you configure the location, which should tell you where they are. -

Hi J_Parton! Can you respond to the following questions? Are you using the latest version of classroombookings from the website? What version of PHP are you using? Does PHP work on your server? What errors do you keep getting? IIS is not officially supported but I'll do my best to try and help or advise where I can. Thanks! -

Last time I moved (copper phone line) I was given a 15 working day lead time for Openreach to activate the line and move services. Just make sure to factor this possible amount of time into any communication you have with your provider - don't leave it too late!
