Ours is virtualised, so this is probably going to be of little help. Windows Server 2012 64bit, 4GB RAM, Xeon 2.4Ghz, 30GB RAM, IIS8. Runs our intranet fine. The only hiccup we get is sometimes when editing a page, it goes to sleep for a couple of minutes. Users navigating between pages, don't experience this problem.

Do you FreeSat or Sky? If you do, you'll find the FAB TV. If you watch over the course of a week or so, you'll see programs which are often one DVD from the many exercise DVD program sets available. You can then make an informed choice. Ones that I have seen are Sleek Technique, XTend Barre Bob Harper, Jillian Michaels, Ladan Soltani, Surfer Girl, Kino Macgregor, Nicky McGinty, Pop Physique, Kettleworx, etc, etc. I have the first two mentioned. The downside of FABTV is that most of the workouts seem to be aimed at women. There used to be The Active Channel on FreeSat/Sky but it is now online only. I used to watch when it was on TV and there were some good exercises (IMO). I have done several of the workouts while the TV is on to see what I liked. I naturally gravitate to the ballet style workouts, as I do regular ballet classes. I also pump the iron regularly, but I don't think you need a DVD for that. One of my local fitness centres runs an Insanity class, and I think they do some of similar programs. This could be a good way to do it and keep motivated. Working out alone at home can be tedious for some people.

We run an intranet and all notices go there. Like most schools, we have staff with varying levels of IT experience, so we had to come up with a simple solution. We have four M$Word docs on a shared drive. The staff edit these (most people can use a word processor), save the doc file and then save it again as "web page filtered", which creates an html file. These html files are displayed on the intranet. When it was sharepoint, it was done with CEWP. Now it is Joomla, it is done with a lightbox plugin. The only downside, is that some staff managed to save the doc file to their home drive. We take a tough approach on this. If your changes are overwritten by the next person who changes the notice, it is your problem for not following the instructions and don't come crying to IT.

Back in the 1970s, I did a speed reading course (Evelyn Wood's Reading Dynamics), which was a popular thing to do back in the day. I can't remember what speed I got up to, but now I read very slowly. I'm guessing 150wpm.

We'll have a few. Web site - we're waiting on a new design, and have been so for 13 months, but nobody will make a decision. Our finance system - waiting on the suppliers to certify that it will work on newer release. Ditto for part of the MIS system.

We only record one lesson (General Studies), and we use a method which is so cruddy it doesn't rate a mention. One of the secretaries sits in there with a video camera. These people helixmedialibrary have lesson capture which is used by several universities and when I saw the demo, looked very easy. Click the big start button, deliver lecture, click the big stop button and it's uploaded to the media server. This only captures the teachers screen and mike, but using some extra hardware and a camera, you could capture the whole lecture. If you look at the video testimonials, you'll see the sort of thing you can do; these were recorded at one of the annual user symposiums.

Our old RDP server didn't use an RDP gateway, so all of the Chromebooks worked fine. The new RDP server, has to be accessed via a gateway. Does anyone know of a Chromebook RDP client that allows the entry of a gateway, in a manner like this shot from an ASUS tablet? I can't find one

My gast has never been more flabbered! The original Godzilla is from 1954, by the great Toho Film Studio. The 1998 film is known amongst we Gojira devotes as GINO (Godzilla In Name Only). Godzilla '85 isn't bad, if you want an update from the original. IMO the best update is "Destroy All Monsters", if only because everyone is in it. Godzilla, King Ghidora, Mothra, Rodan, Kumonga, and many others.

I treated myself to a Fritz Lang fest over the weekend, watching Metropolis (the 2010 restoration), M, Frau im Mond and Clash by Night. "Woman in the Moon", gets so much right, such as multi-stage rocket, assembling the rocket in a VAB, and rolling it out for lauch, lying down for liftoff, weightlessness, and having weighted shoes on the moon so you don't float away. It also get's it way wrong, which an atmosphere on the moon's far side and water too. When the Nazis began working on the V2, they decided the movie's rockets were too close to the truth, so to preserve secrecy, they had the models destroyed and the film withdrawn from release. Peter Lorre is brilliant in "M" and with Marilyn Monroe and Barbara Stanwyck in "Clash by Night" (two of my favourite actresses), I really was in heaven.

+1 VNC - we use TightVNC but I don't think it matters too much. You could also use Teamviewer, Chrome Remote Desktop, LogMeIn etc, but these are probably overkill, unless you are outside of your LAN.

Take in the Edinburgh fringe and festival. It's very cultural, although you'll spend all of your time indoors. You can see 8 shows a day - I know 'cus I've done it. If you like comedy, you can probably see even more. I don't see any of the comedy - I much prefer to see the dance and plays.
