We've got a couple of the Logitech Skype TV sets that stopped working a while ago when they stopped that support. I ended up being a DNS issue so I created a Skype DNS internally and they started working again. Never really liked Skype TBH, I still have o visit the heads office everytime they do a Skype interview and check it.

Mine did that the other week, I kept putting it off until it ran out on the morning and no one could connect with their devices.

I have a QNAP TS-469L running 4.1.4. I'm not on the latest as I had issues with the SMART reporting on my drives so left it at this. Its never had SMBv1 enabled on it and the only thing I found was after I removed it from my desktop I couldn't connect via the IP address.. using the FQDN works. I'm the only one that uses it anyway so it was only me affected. I know this worked prior to disabling v1.

I've been monitoring our patching anally after being hit on January and make sure every server gets updated straight away. All on the lovely green 100% at present. We've just started using fusemail too which has the clicksmart faculty which changed the link in emails and redirects to them, where they check if its valid...if its not it gives you a warning. Still won't stop some staff clicking through but the more security i can provide the better. We are getting a pen test done soon, nice to have some £££ for this sort of stuff.

We actually got ours through our copier company but I did get a quote from ITS last year when I was looking at doing it myself. £280 per MFD £532 for 500 user license for MF £670 for maintenance There was a discount as we already had NG but for 10 copiers we were looking at £5k I sat with the engineer and did the upgrade on the copiers to run MF and its just weird, had to put the serial number of the copier in a weird website with the MF activation code. I haven't don't follow me yet but he's left the documentation and its seems pretty straightforward but we only have 8 devices now.

Just looking at this ourselves now and asked my reseller for the costing for volume licensing. £1.044 per user per month x 120 staff... I suppose less than £2k a year for a added layer of security isn't too bad if I can protect all my servers on site. PS. Set this up on my admin account.. its nice after eventually setting everything up. Got the app on my phone along with the sms verification.. going to try remote desktop when I get home

Sorry but I was left flat. I enjoyed the humour but the story around Snake Plisskin was ridiculous.. but then we are talking about a film featuring a talking racoon, a twig and a guy who controls an arrow with whistles. I reckon I will be in a very small minority here.

We are on 2016 LTSB but tempted to go back to Edu as the creator edition seems to have fixed loads of stuff for me and Edge is nice and stable for me now (IE was doing my head in on 1607 for some reason) We do use classic shell though.

I'm using con2prt.exe in a batch file. Its retro but works. ... and adprintx.exe to clear the old printers off.

Just updated to Pro Creator edition and Windows 10 is actually working how I want it to... even Edge is playing nicely and I can stop using IE. I was on Edu... but rolled out LTSB 2016 across the network so I am waiting with baited breathe for LTSB 2017

I sorted it, there was a setting that argued with another one and disabled the settings. On a similar note I decided to rip my WSUS out and stick on its own hardware... Server 2016 on an old HP Microserver and a lot of my issues have disappeared with failed updates and servers not talking back. It was a grind to approve the updates initially but now its running like a dream.

Hi, I've changed something on my WSUS settings and now I can't manually retry the updates as it says the settings are managed by the our organisation. I've been trying to fix the unreliable nature of ours... I check and trhey say failed, I slick retry and they install but some stop at downloading 100% which only carry on after restarting the WU service. Anyway, does anyone know the setting in GP that stops you manually installing updates. I've tried the telemetry fix on the web but I am sure someone on here mentioned a similar issue and a fix.

Hi, I've got a laptop that's doing weird stuff, I've seen it on some other Lenovo laptops but managed to fix it but uninstalling the battery from the device manager and letting it reinstall it. The laptop will only run on the battery and discharge it when the power is plugged in, if I remove the battery the laptop runs on the power... it doesn't charge the battery or show up at all. Weirdly I've been messing with it all week and after the battery had discharged I came in the next day and there was some charge in it. Anyone seen this? I've reinstalled W8, W10.. all the drivers... removed them.

Hi, I've been asked to sort out a live digital clock for a powerpoint to work with exams. We have been using the Powerpoint Timer software but its a bit flakey and gets costly running on 4 machines. Anyone use anyting else? I've played with Live Pages and embedding FLVs but they arent ideal.

Annoyingly I was only told after I did some sums on the CANON LOT site that we are tied in for 3 more years... I worked out we would save almost 6 grand swapping. We went back to our supplier who has knocked .6p off per colour and we get papercut installed as part of the deal. Taking the .6p cut we would still save 2 grand.

I had a long conversation with a Sophos guy (sales so take it with a pinch of salt) but according to him the next release of Sophos due Easter will have useful safeguarding reporting that you can actually use and hand out. Also mentioned keyword filtering

Sorry I gave up. It works out that the iPads i bought werent bought on the school account but rather a generic account (even though they were billed to us) so I cant link them to DEP. I called the Apple store who confirmed that they dont exist on my school account, they emailed me to confirm this and added if i wanted to attend their apple breakfast to discuss how great they are I could. I replied asking them to comfirm that there was no way to link my purchases back to my account but they ignored me. Meanwhile I emailed support and Todd got back to me around the same time and said if I called Apple education they might be able to link the purchased. I was on hold for 45 minutes yesterday so gave up. I'll stick to unsupervised devices with the limited control. The quote I got from Meraki was extortionate by the way.
