  1. Hi, I'm starting to look at reports for my new XG box, they are super quick but I cant see the useful ones I used to have with Smoothwall. Like the Safeguarding one and the suspicious web searches. Has anyone setup custom reports to reproduce these? I was told last year at a demo they were coming soon.
  2. I've changed our DHCP now to point to our new Sophos box. Issues initially as clients without the proxy or stuff like Outlook stopped working until I added them to the web filer properly. Skype wasn't working too so I am going through adding all the office365 exceptions again. (cant see a way to bulk add these annoyingly) Today I swapped over the office staff to Sophos and removed the proxy. All seemed well, I am just getting some issues with clientless devices I missed off my list.. card machine, alarm system. I should be okay to fully migrate at half term fully. Its actually a really good system, much better than Smoothwall and super fast changing any settings. Only annoying thing is the box powers up the fans whenever you make any changes. Its not in the rack yet so I so I am hoping it wont be as intrusive when in there. Reporting is a different level too, can't stress enough how brilliant it is in comparison.
  3. Wow, its almost like I've written this. I've had my Sophos box in for about a week which is running alongside my SW box. Ours was setup with the client on the serer and it seems to work ok, not the slicking method but picks up the groups fine. (if you change the group you need to delete the record stored on the Sophos box) Currently my SW is on 100.1 and my new Sophos is 100.252. Domain user have the IDEX client on and their proxy points to itself. So my testing plan at present is to change the DHCP client to a static with a new default gateway of 100.252 on some of the machine and force a new proxy for some test users as No proxy. We are a 3-18 school so I've got 4 test accounts but I've only tried the junior kids so far... and I've changed my admin account to use Sophos too. My SW runs out on the 16th June so I am on a tight turnaround too, May Bank will be a rush. I should be able to just change the Default gateway on my DHCP server to 252 and still use the SW proxy settings till I switch over..... or if I am 100% certain I might just change the IP of the Sophos box to 100.1 and decommission it. I've still got my BYOD devices and Chromebooks to sort out.....and the unauthenticated clients. PS. The logging on Sophos is superb!!!
  4. I got mine installed yesterday but it wont go live till half term. looks lovely and the reporting works!!!!!
  5. Hi, I've read a fair bit about iSams and its benefits over SIMS so I'm trying to go through the process of evaluation with some of our stakeholders. The stuff I've seen is good and bad, weighing towards good but after evaluating Edulink with SIMS it goes the other way bringing web based and an app to SIMS. There seems a lot going from WCBS to iSAMS which seems an obvious choice but SIMS to iSAMS not so much. Anyone done this and regretted it? The admissions part of iSAMS looks brilliant, the analysis not so but we'd just export it to Excel anyway and use that. The SQL reporting looks a pain too. Just phishing for info.. good and bad.
  6. Sort of, ish.
  7. Watched the Bundy/Effron film at the weekend. Not sure what it was meant to say about the guy... almost seemed like he was too nice to be a killer which I suppose was the point. Very strange film.
  8. Cheers for the replies. Annoyingly the I-catcher software is brilliant....but it look like they stopped developing it and I prefer a DVR box.
  9. Hi, I've been recommended a Hikvision DS-9632NI-I8 to replace an old coax CCTV box. Has anyone got one or a similar spec that can give me some tips or advice on it.
  10. Endgame, in a minority thought it was good but not outstanding. Way too long, focused too much on one stupid Character and one cardboard one. The Dark Knight is still king to me
  11. Did both of them, still wouldn't work. Added them to the local admin group (only using these accounts for that lesson) and 2 worked.. one still refused. Had to let them use the computer next to them using my account to change the AI file and save it/export it (supervised). Must have been a GP specific to the exams group but I cant find it. Thankfully no Adobe next year.
  12. Hi, In the middle of an exam and illustrator has started playing up. After they save the file they cannot reopen it, it says the file cannot be found and gives the correct path to it. I can open as an admin... its happening to the AI file and the BMP file they created in illustrator. Logged them onto another machine and its doing the same... anyone seen this?
  13. I've got line of duty to catch up on... dual monitor works great for this. Sticking a new Hikvision camera up outside so a bit of ladder work is on the menu too.
  14. Wish I'd have found this earlier, I started panicking as I couldn't even deploy using a USB either. ** always check edugeek first **
  15. Ah cheers, didn't see that. Can't find one on eBay either.
  16. Hi, Has anyone seen this? I'm sure I've seen it in the past but version15 doesn't list it and its way more expensive than 13. A parent asked me which laptop to chose and I said whichever your comfortable with but now I cant find Dragon anywhere. I thought my old version had both discs.
  17. Ah ok so just a demo of classroom. I wish they'd come out and say we have given up on reporting and are concentrating on new products instead.
  18. I've been watching a few videos on this and might go down this route. The NEC gear we have needs an upgrade which is £4k which is way more than moving to new Grandstream phones. We've got around 45 extensions with 20 DDI's which we will need to evaluate. Do you have the Grandstream ones on the main reception and office?
  19. Funny this is when my dad started losing his marbles he used to spend hours jaggling his keys and searching for them.. he had loads on there and after he died we checked them out and he had door keys from 30 years go on them and most we didn't have a clue about.... Fast forward to today where I have 30 year old keys on there from my moms house and most of them I don't have a clue about... and a couple of keyrings from my kids. Its the circle of life I suppose.
  20. Did anyone else receive the flyer for the 'new Smoothwall' today. I may have missed the boat as I've been preparing to jump ship but it talks about Online reporting which may be the reporting we've all been craving for for the past 15 years. Lots of lovely stock images but no screenies.
  21. I just binged watching Punisher.. used to love his grunt when he went in for a beating. Reckon he could best Superman.
  22. Just finished Titans, really good watch and the expanding DC universe..bit like Gotham just darker
  23. Ours is still over £2k with the £2800 offset. one of the surprises on the quote is Drilling external wall - 220.83 Am I buying them a new drill just for the hole.. the surveyor did say they screw you with drilling so do it yourself.
