Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)
Simcfc73 replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
Agree with this, if the predicted grade come out as a record for A-Level results then they will sniff blood again. Doesn't take much to get another rally in London these days anyway -
And you need to set the inbound relay in GMAIL to accept mail from O365 too. Took me a while to find it but we needed it as some emails weren't arriving. The GMAIL smart host name is aspmx.l.google.com

Us too. I like it and it works...no matter what people say.

We've got this setup and I haven't got it reliable yet. I've set the WIFI to use the NPS server for Radius which talks to Sophos to get them into the right filtering groups. Problem I have is.. When I roam it sometimes comes up on my phone to say you need to sign in to access the WIFI... but when I click on it then I am let straight back in. Today I had it where it wouldn't get a lease... but I rebooted the AP and it started working. Then I had it where it said it was connected but I couldn't get on the internet (no errors).. when I looked at the controller it said it was unauthorised but it didn't redirect to the logon page. I've done loads of testing but can't work it out.... even got to the stage of RMAing a couple of APs' after speaking to tech support. Sorry to hijack the thread.

The last 2 episodes of Umbrella were pretty good tbh, glad I stuck with it.

I'm trying to like Umbrella but its coming across as pretentious twaddle to me... reminds me of how they ruined the watchman movie. Full of retro music and long drawn out scenes.

Been watching documentaries. Really enjoyed The Last Dance, especially watching MJ evolve and now watching Last Chance U from the other end of the spectrum... lots of the N word though.

Channel 4????? Interesting line up though

Right ok. I've got standard backup doing 30 days to its internal drives which works great. Just need to figure out how to do the offsite external drives (rotating). Suppose if I have a job for each drive using a weekly backup then a monthly one pointing to the same drive.
-
Thanks for this. I couldn't work out how your supposed to identify the rotating drives when you need to restore from them. I've set my disks as secondary target but it doesn't work how I want. Have you used secondary targets or just their own jobs per disk? Any chance of screenies of your setup? Trying to get my head round how you've set this up. How many disks do you have?

Hi, Had a bit of a mare this morning as I was testing my VEEAM and managed to delete my SIMS server. 4 hour restore so I am in the dog house. Just wanted to know if anyone is using rotating media with VEEAM. I'm struggling a bit with the terminology as I've come from DPM.. which had issues but seemed a bit easier when it comes to external backups (IMHO) What I am trying to achieve is a weekly backup to rotating media kept for 4 weeks then a monthly backup saved for 12 months. The GFS option is greyed out on rotating media so I can't use that and the retention policy just gives you the option of how many recovery points to keep. Not sure what happened in March to my backups but they weren't overwritten or updated... looks like it started a new process with new folders on the disks. I've got 4 disks that I want to rotate. I did start this thread http://www.edugeek.net/forums/enterprise-software/211435-veeam-best-practise.html which was helpful in the initial setup.

We used to have Ruckus but switched to Unifi when I went to AC. I like the simplicity of it and obviously the price but its got some niggles. Random AP's stop responding and at present I've got some weirdness where the AP's don't respond to pings or SSH's which I can't solve. Its better than the Ruckus stuff though as I had issues with that too (especially the £2k controllers we bought) I'd replace all our switches for UI stuff if I had the wonga too as the switches we bought are great.

Probably cos Will and Grace came back

Just catching up on some tv... anyone seen Travelers? Series 2 Episode 5 seems to be playing out... with Bill Gates as the Director

Seems to be, I must have missed the memo about this.

Hi, After having time to investigate the slow logon speed I've found a couple of issue. The first being my domain PC policy had some weirdness not listed in the policy view which stopped edge signing in (only found this after redoing the policy from scratch which worked perfectly). The second is redirected folders. What I've found is when I just use the home folder redirection logon time is around 15 seconds on first logon and about 5 on the following one. As soon as I enabled the Pictures, Videos and Music redirection to follow the documents folder it slows it down about about 30 seconds for each one on first logon. Its a black screen for well over a minute. I tried redoing the default profile but it didn't help. Anyone got any ideas? Don't fancy doing a sync at logon/logoff.
-
I've disabled it for students and just going to roll out for staff. The auto enable option in GP would be great.

I've just setup hybrid and uploaded all my machine accounts to the cloud because I was trying to get the Office 365 machine activation working until I realised there is a cost. No idea what to do with it now

Yes, and I found some missing exceptions in Sophos XG too. (they weren't in the article) *.aadrm.com, *.azurerms.com, *.informationprotection.azure.com, ecn.dev.virtualearth.net, informationprotection.hosting.portal.azure.net So they open EDGE for the first time and a prompt appears saying they have automatically signed in and have to click yes to accept which starts the sync process. (there may be another policy to remove the prompt) I do have an issue which I think is just related to my domain. On my standard setup they aren't logged in automatically as it comes up with a prompt that they need additional information to setup sync and allowing them to manage the computer (not MFA related). I setup another OU and this doesnt happen so a policy somewhere is messing stuff up.. I'm suspecting UEV somewhere.
-
I've got it set with group policy where it automatically signs them in but there is a prompt for them to ok. You can also set it so they can't add another profile or remove the one you assign. Something is blocking my edge signing in on my firewall (Sophos XG) but if I disable it then it does sign into sync straight away.

I've got this so mine is a FW issue I believe, need to wireshark it to find out. AAD Account Key StatusPack/Unpack Key Result unpack failLast MIP Result Network error
-
Sorry I misread it. This in Edge has some baffling info which I am trying to work out. edge://sync-internals/

Have you tried signing in at home? I've got something similar which I think its my firewall...if I allow everything through on my test PC it signs in.
