  1. Its an Optoma EX530 which we've had for over 11 years and served us well... still have about 5 going strong. Something goes wrong with the picture on them eventually where you get loads of dots over the screen which gets worse over time... can't remember which part needs replacing but its not worth it. The throw on them is really flexible too so replacing them has always been a bit of a pain. I did ask if she wants a TV but she likes to write on the board... and we aint buying smart tvs.
  2. Anyone know why this projector might be overheating? Years of slack maintenance has left it unloved int he food room... smells of grease and is a bit sticky too.
  3. Thanks for the help, I've narrowed it down to the student group policy. (I'm sure I already troubleshooted this). I moved the PC between groups, changed the license assignments sop they were a staff account then eventually moved OU's so they were in the staff. Logs on automatically and licensed. I did removed the student GP's previously and tested it which still didn't work so something is being enabled properly in the staff OU. Annoyingly I never got the cloud sync working with EDGE in the staff section. I binned the computer activation as it just wasnt working how I thought.
  4. Yes sync is setup, assigned Licensed are right according to Microsoft support. Its ignoring the shared activation for students altogether... thought I had cracked the different location for the activation key for staff as the folder appeared... signed into a different one and it ignored it. Folders are created just not populated with anything. It does look like its activating now, if I cancel the logon it just doesn't connect the services but I can use Office.
  5. I've just done a few with manually deploying using the "setup.exe /configure" command from a shared drive. My Deploy had this I can see it in the registry but its ignoring it and storing it in the local profile when I log in as staff Still when I log in as a student its ignoreing the shared activation and asking them to sign in.... when I look at help its not shared activation.
  6. I decided to log a call with M$ to have a look. Not really much help, just really told me to make sure I was logged off when switching users so far. I decided to redo the O365 download and make sure shared activation was set right with the right path. First login.... WOOHOO.. a xml file appered.... and then a second. Thought I had cracked it. Then I logged in a different computer and the logon prompt appeared but it did let me login after entering the pupils credentials. I checked the registry and the shared activation is set to 1 and ran a gpresult and nothing was turning shred activation off. I don't mind the logon prompt for senior pupils but for our junior kids its a bit of a pain (might not seem it but for the year 2 an 3s its an added step too far.
  7. Oh my, got this email today from several pupils....an over eager teacher probably put them up to it. Hi Mr Smith, I hope you are well. Me and a few others were wondering if we could change back to google chrome this or next year as we use google classroom, docs, slides and google sheets. It is also a lot better than Microsoft edge as it's quicker and seems to have more images when you search. If we had google as our search engine then we would be able to access Google drive and google classroom a lot faster. It is also apparent that the most commonly searched thing on Bing is Google. It seems such a waste of our learning time having to open Microsoft edge/ Bing just to then search up google. Here is a picture: image.png Thank you
  8. Trailer looks like a fan cut....but the film must be an improvement.
  9. I ended up setting the syncing to work in school rather than through the web.. synced for the kids and teachers now and is stored in their home folder in a folder called Edge. Seems to work perfectly now.
  10. My wife's isolating at home, a delightful child tested positive on Monday and came into school on Tuesday (I'm sure there's a Craig David song in there somewhere). They've have loads of cases. My school has had zero so far in a high rate area... a mix of luck and great school management.
  11. I had one pretending to be from Google asking me for the support ID in my Google domain...very strong accent so I hung up.. they never phoned back.
  12. Hi, I'm dabbling into moving from Office 2019 to Office 365 and have installed on a few machines to see how it works. The activation seems sporadic so I am a bit confused. I've installed it with shared computer activation which logs in straight away with my logon... just about. I've tried it with my staff test account and it sings in and activates straight away without a prompt. Pupil accounts come up with the popup box, they log in (just the username) but nothing works and it says its un licensed, I can see they have the Office 365 Apps for Education license assigned to them just like the staff. There's some weirdness also where sometimes staff have to sign in and when they do it says unlicensed. I've added the edge and IE local intranet fixes so not sure what it is. I don't think its the firewall as I've tried it with bypassing it. Any suggestions?
  13. Mugs, socks, slippers, chocolate orange... we get simpler as we get older.
  14. Hi, Does anyone know if there is a way to mass change the linked docs in SIMS. As we are moving to Edulink we want to tidy them up... change catagories.. convert docs to pdfs etc... but its a long and laborious job. Not hopeful.
  15. Todays went fine so I wonder if it was user error. Our Exams officer did the demo and had popup prompts whenever she did anything wrong. We've asked Mettl who said they can't see any issues and Cambridge pointed back to Mettl so we've had to lodge an appeal for extraordinary circumstances.
  16. Just me then with issues.
  17. We've just had one where he finished the first and second test and when he clicked continue it finished his test.. missing number 3. 45 minute wait on the phones too
  18. The Microsoft login doesn't save my settings so its a faff to logon each time. Using AD username and passwords saves the credentials and works fine. I wanted to use the M$ logon so it had the MFA assigned to the users. Really would have liked MFA as an option....especially with the app. Just going through the linked documents, I've created a new category called reports so I can assign just these to be visible to the parents.... very long winded.
  19. Leon is the stabber
  20. Hi, We've delved into EDULINK and wondered if anyone has any useful tips on how to get the best out of it. Had it a few days and its great.. apart from how slow it is to log on using the Microsoft option... and the app logs me out and loses the school name so its a pain. I'm not sure if its the M$ thing that's the issue. The school computers seem to be fine, they click on the link and it opens a browser briefly and logs them in without a prompt.
  21. I thought the first was good, the second average and the jury's still out for me on this one... I don't particularly like the characters. I guess I just pine for the magic of TNG as I didn't reckon much of Picard either.
  22. Annoyingly I got sync working but now all I get is 'sync isn't available for this account' for the staff
  23. When we had Ruckus we used Guest tokens to access the WIFI, worked really well as I could give reception access so they could create access tokens for visitors... separate VLAN as recommended above too. Now we have UNIFI I have AD accounts which i give out.. again.. on a seperate VLAN Wifi. We stick a disclaimer on the sign in page.. if you do anything naughty we are watching and just lock it down to only the ports they need.. doesn't take much to manage
  24. We had Openreach on our school street over the lockdown. I spoke to one of them and he said they were putting in FTTP capability. Just been on the Cerberus site and it says we can get 300mb on FTTP... wooohooo
