  1. Hi, Has anyone got this working? I'm interested to know if the setup might work. When I configured it for testing it didn't even attempt to redirect. Guest vlan with a SSID on this VLAN, the controller sits on VLAN1. When I used Smoothwall and Ruckus it worked perfectly. Sophos and Ubiquiti is more of a test.
  2. *bump* I was going to redo another thread but thought I would bump this. According to these articles its soooooooo easy to setup but its hitting the first firewall rule and not getting ot the logon page.. I've added the store and the API setting to the rule but the Chromebook just loops trying to connect all the time. https://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/products/xg-firewall/how-to-library.aspx#Authentication https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/133044
  3. Mine were £20
  4. I've installed a FreePBX system, bought the hardware and got all the phones off Ebay. Combination of GXP1450, 2100s and the 2160s on reception. Love the software, the Grandstream don't have all the features of the Sangoma ones to manage but they were £20 each so I can't complain.
  5. Hi, Just out of interest, how are other sophos users using reports. I have some scheduled reports setup for the usual but as I was getting no results I reported it as a fault but its by design. The report only reports items that are allowed through. So by their logic we have to allow all terrorist sites through to get any data relating to prevent. There is a report which shows all blocked attempts but it dumps everything into a massive report. I may be mistaken but it seems they are light years behind smoothwall.
  6. My quote was just over a grand. Its very good but it looks like my Sophos reports are actually broken so when they are fixed I will have a better idea.
  7. I might end up buying a reporting package as they are crubbish.
  8. Absolutely brilliant, laughed out loud loads of times. Not sure it works with the dreamy BS about beautiful countries in a Bolton accent but can live with it.
  9. Its sorted now, I think a combination of the fixes got rid of the IEAK settings eventually.. haven't had a proxy issue for a couple of days.
  10. So annoying, it keeps coming back for me. I removed the settings from all the GPs as suggested in http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-7/178742-overwriting-deleting-ieak-settings.html I've run >rundll32.exe iedkcs32.dll,Clear I've run netsh winhttp reset proxy numerous times I check the registry and its back in Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings I might have to script it like suggested to write over this setting.
  11. I've got a similar thread relating to this from a couple of days and it does look like its the IEAK from a bygone era that's messing up my network. I did a search for the proxy name using agent ransack and found it was in 3 places in the install.ins files so I edited each one and removed the proxy name. I thought I had fixed it but came in this morning and my work pc had the proxy back on so I scanned the registry and deleted the key again.
  12. Funny how this thread appeared with exactly the same issue http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-server-2012/207175-internet-explorer-maintenance-missing-group-policy.html
  13. I've found the culprit. Its an IEAK setting in group policy from long time ago. Its on my default domain policy and in another place.
  14. Thanks for this but its showing as no proxy, I had this set after a fix for the 'no internet connection' issues we were having. We were using Smoothwall IDEX which has been removed but my machine had a different proxy setting on.. smoothwall.domain.co.uk:8888 anyway. It came back this morning, its not in the registry.. the local GP or the domain GP.
  15. I thought I'd fixed it but I don't think I have, there's issues with Outlook crashing too which I think is related... oh and Chrome seems to stop working unless you open IE which must do something with the proxy and Chrome started again. I've run RSOP against my account and cant see any old proxy settings... cleared my profile... and did a full search in the registry but its still coming back....its very weird.
  16. Yes for pupils, no for staff. I got a workaround which I am testing. Deleting all the settings inside SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\iphlpsvc\Parameters\ProxyMgr
  17. Hi, I'm struggling to disable old proxy settings on my network. We moved from Smoothwall:8888 to no proxy but it keeps coming back for some reason. The old proxy was set via Group policy preferences Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings - Proxy server black Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings - Proxy Enabled 00000000 Its still getting the old settings after a refresh... I've done a GP results and cant see where its getting the proxy settings from. I just need to wipe all the proxy settings out. Weirdly it does it for my admin account, I've done a scan of my registry and deleted everything I could find but it still appears. Any suggestions?
  18. I logged a case with Sophos asking about it, I did find someone on the Sophos community who said they had it working but they never replied. I've gone with the captive portal for now which is okay and you can HTML the logon page to make it pretty.... except for some reason its blocking the link to the MITM certificate so half the kids cant use the BYOD. As soon as they authenticate they can access the link so its being blocked somewhere. There's been a lot of complaints of how unreliable the internet is at present and Outlook just dies sporadically... I was going to power up my Smoothwall box and stick that back on till the end of term as I know that works but after I turned it off it wont power back on... got 8 years out of it.
  19. Its the dogs.. .only ever paid for it once too and it just keeps going.
  20. I have it with Firestreamer for HD backups and azure for DB backups. Probably had it for 10 years and very happy...and its cheap.
  21. Simple things are taking ages or I cant get to work. Talking between a vlan and my internet logon page has taken ages to sort and the rule we got to work makes no logical sense. I cant get the vlan to go to the user portal logon page, it works on the normal lan. The Chromebook thing isn't working even though I followed the awful Sophos support page instructions. The reports are quick but the safeguarding stuff isn't great unless you want 10 reports a day. The box is stupidly noisy whenever you make a simple change.. I don't know what the life cycle of the fans are. Some reason Outlook seems to crash out with no connection, if you browse the internet it comes back eventually. Some of its down to me trying to rush it but I have 2 hours to get the the vlans working for our guest WIFI Oh and I cant work out how Ruckus can talk to it.
  22. After 2 weeks I rescind my praise. I miss my Smootwall box.
  23. Hi, Next snag. Has anyone got Chromebooks and the XG playing nicely. What's it supposed to do? I've followed the Sophos article and setup the cert and the firewall but its not playing... is it supposed to be SSO where you logon to the Chromebook and it automatically logs into Sophos or is it a dual prompt? Following the tutorial it doesn't even get to the prompt unless I open the FW up more.
  24. Yes it 'seems' to be related to ESET although its only just started happening even though its been in for 2 weeks. I've sorted the STAS out and just leaving it a while till I see if its fixed. It seems weird as I cant see where ESET is getting the credentials from, unless its when it was installed.
  25. My new rig is playing silly with authentication.. random users getting prompts for the captive portal and the logs showing my admin account on every computer. Just tried a non domain laptop and no captive portal prompt but logged on as a admin.
