Found the issue. The Policy 'Allow download restrictions' when enabled wont let me download anything. Also the 'Set Download directory' wouldn't work with ${documents}/Downloads even though when I went into the settings it pointed to the right place. I changed it to u:\downloads and it works. I've also removed the external PDF setting which isn't right for some reason. Next issue . I can't get edge sync working through the Sophos XG firewall except when I allow everything through it for the test PC. I've asked the support and they can't see why either. My work PC is happy. It does look like the initial handshake is being blocked... if I close the firewall off after it syncs it seems to stay on.

This is really weird, I've created a new GP with nothing else on it and got it working .. sort of but other stuff is messing up. Now for some reason I cannot download anything at all. I've removed the Group policy altogether but the setting has set. If I click on a downloadable link it does nothing. I've tried web ones and my intranet but no prompt. I've tried with a profile and without one also. If I click on the link again. it shows a popup with the 'allow multiple downloads from this website' prompt... which I cant see in the GP to turn off either. Oh and the PDF thing isn't working either. I've set it to only use external programs to open PDFs and its defaulting to PDF reader but I am getting errors for that also.

Sorry my computers kept reverting to default after each reboot. I had removed IE totally using DISM so it was completely messing things up not defaulting to Edge... especially with links in Outlook. It looks like its one of the group policies that's not playing nicely. I might have to redo some of them as they have historic IE info in them with no way to manage it.

Working now for staff, must have just taken a while to kick in. Now to try and work out the kids issue

So after a few days of turning policies off and on I've found some settings that were messing up the default programs assigning. So that's sorted. Trying to work out favourites now. I've set the policies so they sign in automatically and can't change or add another one and the sync says working but it ain't. As soon as I log off and kill the profile the favourites are empty. I'd have thought if the sync says it's working then they should sync. Really need a way to backup the favourites and passwords so not relying on local profiles. Thats the first thing... Annoyingly that's the staff accounts, when i try as a pupil it says the account needs verifying and goes through the mfa setup... Even though those accounts haven't a mfa license attached.

I installed the latest version the other day, now every time I roam between access points it loses its connection and asks me to sign in again.

Did you solve this once and for all, I'm in the process of moving to Edge and my file association is resetting on reboot each time and not taking the Group Policy? I've allowed staff account to reset it to Edge but I need a permanent fix.

Still flummoxed with this. Even when I set the file association and I export the file association file with DISM it doesn't fill in the htm and html...bonkers

Hi, A weird things started happening the other day where I can't open any links in Outlook, I am getting the popup 'Your organisation policies are preventing us from completing this action for you.' I'm in the process of removing IE and deploying Edge which may have something to do with it.. and the recent Office updates. Looking at the error it says there no link to open htm files by default... which there is. I've checked the registry and file association. Anyone seen this?

Anyone got a solution for the Favourite sync thing yet? Was hoping I could get it to sync with Azure out of the way. I've pretty much sorted out the policies and limited the appdata folder size (my admin one is over 1Gb) Got a room of computers where I've removed all trace of IE and Chrome and works great.

I used it as a service prior to moving to the cloud key. You can easily move the install from the user profile to anywhere else, you just need to change the shortcut to point to it. Updates are a pain though as you need to stop the service, uninstall it.. do the update then reverse it.

You need to contact support to get them to send you the KB file, then you run the Diagnose on the SIMS server which will produce the report. This is one of my jobs too, I did run it a few months ago and tidied a fair few up. Its a shame SIMS don't use a Database to lookup the schools so they are all tidy.

Hi, My renewal for Fusemail is coming up and its over £4k per annum which is alot in the current climate so I'm thinking of dumping it and just using the Office 365 filtering. Anyone done this? I really like some of the features of Fusemail, like the quarantine emails allowing me to release with ease and the clicksmart facility but not sure its worth it. I've tinkered with Office 365 and got it to report so its working but not sure its as good as Fusemail. Any tips would be great.

It does look like Classroom is for users to administer themselves without us. I created all ours with GAM which was relatively easy but administering afterwards isn't the easiest.. especially if you don't have a list of all the aliases as I seem to hit entity doesn't exist loads of times. I now have around 200 classes which is a pain Be nice to get reports as an admin too, they are very limited. I've been testing extensions but havent founf the nirvana one yet.

Don't think its the processing, I can view the video instantly on my PC. When I remoted in I left the video spinning attempting to load for ages and it never moved.

Hi, So a week in and all seems to be going well...except MP4 videos are playing up in browsers. s I've just remoting in to a parents laptop where a teacher had done a tutorial video for a class. Clicking the video allows it to open in a popup but just spins round. We've tried on the new Edge browser too, I've checked the cookies and allowed Google through but it just spins round and round and doesn't load. MOV files play fine in the browser. He did have AVG business on which I thought may be an issue. I thought it was a Mac issue but this was windows.

I was told about the grey lady when I first started (we are a very old boarding school) but cant say I've ever seen her... yet. I did find an old copy of the school newsletter from the 50's which told the story of a ghost that used to walk the boys boarding house and wake up the new boys and shout at them. This went out to parents too so you really had to dislike your kids to still send them here after reading that.

I've been in today, I was the only person on site and it was creepy as hell.

Thought Id resurrect this thread. I bought a new lovely USW-16-POE switch which played happily for a few weeks but disconnected last Friday and did the same last night. I can't ping it but I when I go over all the lights are flashing and the POE is powering the access points. Can't be under heavy use for obvious reasons, was looking at buying a few more of these but waste of time if they have the same issues as the APs Latest firmware too, very annoying
