We have just left our AltoDigital\Xerox contract two years early due to how utterly garbage they were. Now with Ricoh for the last six months. I actually had to look up our account manager's name the other day as I couldn't remember it due to not having to talk to him!

Morning, We hardly have any Apple stuff here at all. We have an old MacBook Pro running Catalina 10.15.7 (the newest it will run) and an iPad Pro 2nd Gen on iOS 18.3. Teachers will often film something on the iPad which they then bring to us and we AirDrop it to the MacBook and copy it to the network for them. This has been working for years. Yesterday the MacBook has stopped popping up with the "Accept" box in the top right when we try and AirDrop from the iPad. The iPad can see the MacBook when attempting the Airdrop and if you select it, it just says "Waiting" forever. I've rebooted both, put both in Airplane mode for a couple of minutes and then turned Airplane mode back off, and that is about the limit of my knowledge for Apple kit. Anyone got any suggestions please? I'm not aware either of them have done an update recently. Thank you Stuart

I think OP means an actual chat between people, not part of a team. As far as I'm aware there isn't a way to do it as an admin which has always bothered me. Would be interested to know if it is possible now!

Ah, in that case - no.

Assuming you mean this one as you've not actually said what issue you're having, known issue - Issue ID EX989566 Some users may not see sender names in the search results of the Outlook 2016 MSI client User impact Users may not see sender names in the search results of the Outlook 2016 MSI client. More info Additionally, some users may see items in search results displayed as unread. Scope of impact Some users attempting to search in the Outlook 2016 MSI client may be impacted. Root cause A recent service update contains a code error that's preventing search results from loading successfully, resulting in impact. Updates 6 Feb 2025, 17:39 GMT The deployment of the fix is taking longer than initially estimated due to some issues that needed to be addressed that were halting progress. We addressed those issues and have resumed the deployment. We'll aim to provide a timeline for the deployment to complete by our next scheduled communications update. Next update by: Thursday 13 February 2025 at 19:00 GMT

How do you...stop staff from emailing the wrong person!
Jawloms replied to Netwacky87's topic in How do you do....it?
Pupils are hidden from the address book, and the format is surname, first initial, year they joined in year 7 (so smithj24@.....). Staff are initial, surname (so jsmith@.....). We had a student with the same name as a teacher here a couple of years ago and even with what I've already said, we still put (Student) after his name. The bigger problem I've experienced was a number of years ago (in a previous school) we had a teacher send a sensitive email to "Year 8" rather than "Year 8 Form Tutors". They noticed and told us immediately. Fortunately year 8 had PE so were nowhere near their emails (we still checked the last logon times anyway) and we ran a script on the Exchange server to delete the email from everyone's mailbox. We then changed the name format of some of the distribution lists...... -

I had this years ago on a brand new, fresh out of the box iPhone 5C. Turned it on and it said there was an update, told it to do it and it said it couldn't as there wasn't enough room. BRAND NEW PHONE! Plugged it in to a computer and did it via iTunes. That still a thing? Stuart -
@Zoom7000 - Would this thread be better moved to the BETT forum?

Thanks all to your responses. As soon as I started mentioning "expensive" they've suddenly decided that all the kids can hear fine, perhaps we'll put them in a carpeted room though rather than one with a hard floor.

Morning all, We've been asked if we can buy 10 sets of Bluetooth headphones so that multiple students can listen to the same audio track at a time. Obviously that's not going to work with only one computer in the room, but I know there are solutions out there for this purpose. Does anyone use such a system? Any recommendations or things to look out for? Thank you Stuart

Presumably left handed people are OK though?

In case anyone uses it and has missed it, Google have decided that the Impero Extension is no longer good enough so will stop working for you, if it hasn't already! I logged a ticket asking about it and got; Edge is happy with it. Stuart

I text my wife the other day to see how she was doing. Here is her reply and my phone's suggested responses. I didn't use them....... -
This is not something simple like there's loads of nearby Wi-Fis and they just need to scroll down a bit?

We did! They asked us what we'd like audited. We said "aren't you supposed to tell us?" They said no and that they'd audit what we asked them to. We eventually told them what we'd like done, where we thought our strong points are, where our weaknesses are, and they then put exactly what we'd told them in a document and charged us a few hundred £ for it. When we asked for advice as to what to do about our weak spots they said they didn't do that. Check up front what they do before you commit!!

I'm giving up drinking until Christmas. Sorry, punctuation! I'm giving up. Drinking until Christmas.

This is why we're looking for software. The students are all saving their work to the network and we block memory card usage which is making it a pain for the guy who needs to get the student's files to use the printer in offline mode.

My asthmatic Grandad, who would have now been around 100 years old, was told in his 20s he should smoke as the warmed air would help his lungs...... He didn't.
