Is this any particular use? I've started looking at ours. For starters apparently my current score is higher than "can be achieved with my current Microsoft Licence". But the Implementations all seem wrong or out of date too. For example one of the things it says I need to do is "Restrict anonymous users from starting Teams meetings". The implementation says I need to "1. Log into Microsoft Teams admin center. 2. In the left navigation, go to Meetings > Meeting Policies". Meeting Policies is no longer there, and if I actually look at my meeting policies then anonymous users can't start meetings in any of them. There's plenty of others like this too. Thanks Stuart

Hi, We have a Creality Ender v3. Anyone know of any reliable Windows software which will recognise it and print to it please? I've found some ropey looking software I've not touched, and something that looked quite good but wouldn't detect the printer. It does appear in Device Manager against COM6. Thank you Stuart P.S. I don't want to set up a Raspberry Pi.

Filtering Safeguarding Reports - sanity check please
Jawloms replied to sigma's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Definitely doesn't sound right to me. If the filter is blocking it as being porn, surely the reporting should report it whether it actually is or not as you need to know it occurred? Presumably they're assuming the safeguarding report got it right and the block was wrong, but for me if I was going program something to "assume" I'd err on the more cautious side and report it so it can be checked by a human? -
Hyperbole is without question, the greatest word in the English language, ever.

There's definitely a different mindset isn't there. In my last place the Internet stopped working. Eventually we found out the provider had cut us off for not paying the bill and us ignoring repeated reminders. "Don't they know we're a school?" was the business managers response.......

We're having great difficulty getting a copy of the SLA from them for some reason. We're having trouble running a critical report around safeguarding. It's simply that 1st line can't deal with it so they've escalated it internally.

Wasn't sure where to put this question. After some opinions; We logged a ticket with a very high priority with a third party. We've had interactions with them to gather further information, but now because they've had to escalate it beyond the initial helpdesk people they have put the ticket on hold. We asked for it to be kept "In Progress" as it's important and they replied with; Are the literally saying "If we don't put this on hold, we aren't going to meet our own SLA and that would make our stats show that we aren't"? Is that allowed/right/common practice? Thoughts? Stuart

We had it a couple of weeks ago where seemingly randomly when we clicked on (non-sponsored/promoted/whatever) links in search results, we got a block page for "advertising" so something has definitely changed somewhere. Seems fine atm though. SBB and NetSweeper.

'afternoon, In O365, someone with the role of "User Administrator" can obviously reset passwords. Anyone know if it's possible to restrict this to only be able to reset students' (student's?) passwords? Thank you Stuart

I can't recommend a good one, but I can strongly recommend you don't go anywhere near Alto-Digital!

We are M365 for our emails. We have two "selector" cname records set up which as far as I can see are correct. In the DKIM section of security.microsoft.com I have "Sign messages for this domain with DKIM signatures" enabled. When I go to mxtoolbox.com and use the DKIM Lookup, it says "No DKIM Record found". I'm hoping I'm just using the tool wrong, but have I missed something somewhere? I want to get DMARC on, but want to make sure DKIM is correct before I do. Thanks

Figured it out! Because the students haven't started yet, I hadn't enabled their accounts in AD. Enabled them, and can now add my on-prem groups to teams.....
-
Powershell isn't happy either. I've group I'm trying to add up as a Global Security group in AD. At first it didn't have an email address, so I added one. Does the group need to be setup a particular way? Does it need to be setup on Entra rather than AD?
-
I've just tried the app and get the same thing where the dialogue box just disappears. I'll give PowerShell a go though, thank you.

I'm just setting up the new Teams for September. All our AD accounts sync up to M365. I've created a security group in AD for each of the five tutor groups with the idea that I then create "7A French", "7A Geography" etc. and add the security group with the "A" tutor group kids in it. If I try this is teams (web-based), I go to "Add member" and type the name of the security group, which it recognises and suggests. As soon as I click on it, the dialogue box just disappears. No errors, pop-ups or anything! It doesn't add anyone to the team. If I try it in the Teams admin centre, it doesn't recognise the name of the security group when I start typing it. What am I missing? What's the best way to add the same 30 kids to around a dozen new Teams, and then repeat a further four times for the other tutor groups? Thank you Stuart

This is the bit I'm particularly after guidance on for which boxes to tick etc. I tried this and they literally closed the ticket and told me to ask ParentPay, who then said they don't offer documentation as it's a service they provide and would happily provide a quote...... I'll PM you.
-
I emailed ESS asking for documentation on migrating from SQL 2012 to SQL 2016. They said they don't have any and I should email ParentPay. I emailed ParentPay who also said they don't have any, but it's because upgrading SQL is a service they provide and they would be happy to provide a quote! I'm sure in the past someone has produced documentation in upgrading haven't they? Anyone got any please? I imagine it isn't as simple as running the SQL 2016 installer and clicking "Next" a few times, and then renaming the servername in connect.ini! Wouldn't that be nice..... Stuart
