We've got a mix of BenQ, Newline and Tango boards, however we're noticing the price off all of them creep up and the price of the Smart GX series creep down to be much of a muchness. Our current plan is rolling replacement of everything for GXs as we are still a Smart Notebook house.

We were using SCCM, but as we are now entirely cloud based we use Windows Config Designer and InTune and we have about 30 sticks with all the config profiles on them so we can bulk image.

We got around it by putting the whole image on a USB stick for devices that didn't have hardware NICs.

So upon further investigation, it looks like something - either the app or a setting - is capping the performance. I have found a device which has an older version of the client but with identical hardware and is not in our tenancy. As soon as the instruction to sync is given CPU ramps to 90-100% and doesn't stop until the sync is complete which takes about an hour. The current version of the client never exceeds 10% CPU. I'm going to try this at home this evening on a non-entra joined device running the latest client.

I get that - but it was performing acceptably, and now it isn't, so something has changed.

Anyone else having massive issues with the performance of the OneDrive client? For a couple of weeks now every new device that a user sets up with sharepoint library sync is taking whole days to sync? We have an average of 3 libraries per user which range in size between 250,000 and 750,000 total items depending on role. Previously we gave an estimate to the staff of around an hour to complete the initial sync. I've got 3 laptops and my own desktop that have been syncing solidly for over 2 days now. Nothing has changed in terms of our settings but looking at the release list it may have corresponded with the release of Version 24.192.0923.0006 (October 17, 2024) or Version 24.196.0929.0005 (October 21, 2024). Any ideas?

That is almost the exact solution we currently have in place... She is being demanding for all the right reasons - not wanting staff to wait for feedback for a week from observations and learning walks while SLT type up their notes, but I get the desperate feeling that she wants something that just doesn't exist yet. My other thought is that she might be able to take paper notes then dictate them back into the template?

My Exec head has asked for a device that will allow her to ink-to-text directly in a word document... Her actual description is 'I want something like a Remarkable, but it needs to be better, with office on it and automatic ink to text all the time exactly where I write it' Neither OneNote with lasoo or handwriting panel will apparently do, the lasoo tool is apparently too awkward to use in a hurry and the handwriting panel is too slow to convert and she wants to be able to use the word document almost like a canvas, she wants to be able to ink and convert directly into cells in a template. Actual description ' Uggghhh, it's so nearly right, but it's just not... Right enough...' We aren't an Apple house any more and we are unable to buy new through our central procurement - our trust is moving more and more towards MS exclusivity and we've just used our last few iPads for Signin App, otherwise I'd try an Apple Pencil with Scribble. We do currently still have Android available to us. Any ideas?

Not really a scam, but someone called Louise has, I think accidentally, used my mobile number whilst trying to buy furniture. I have had about a dozen calls from John Lewis, DFS, Sofology and Bensons around the Midlands asking to speak to her to arrange an appointment and one apologising for being unable to match a price. I do have a surname but so far attempting to find a social media account for someone with that name in the vicinity of those stores has not proved fruitful.

Thanks for replying We did a cut over migration between systems rather than leaving anything to forward for that exact reason. I can't see any fails in the headers, the SPF, DKIM and DMARC are explicit PASS. The only thing that I can see is that whilst all the checks pass and the SPF record designates the sender correctly (I've checked in MX Toolbox), the actual sending server is a mailgun.net server. The reason always given in quarantine is BULK, so that tracks, but I'm still mystified as to why it continues to do it when we've requested it to not do it!

I have a school who have just moved over from Gmail to Office 365 for mail. This has been a fairly seamless transition to be honest, but I'm getting some flak about specifically GovernorHub emails continuing to go to quarantine despite all the normal steps being taken to stop this. The address is: [email protected] The users who have reported it have all been advised to right click, 'block', 'never block sender'. I've got a whitelist that sets certain domains (our trust, other schools in our partnership, LA and neightbouring LAs, NHS, GovernorHub etc) to SCL -1 bypass spam (which seems to work for all the other domains in it) I've reported false positive to MS I've reported false positive and then set it to allow this type of message '45 days from last use' and I can see the domain in the tenant allow/block page. But I've still got all emails from the domain going to quarantine... I'm wondering if the MS backend doesn't like the .email domain for some reason? Before I do battle with MS support, anyone else got a clue?

After 6 months of whinging that his repurposed 6th gen Xeon server with 32gb ram was slow, my Data manager finally persuaded central finance to cough for a more modern device. He now has a Dell Precision Workstation with a 10th gen Xeon W in it, 64GB RAM and 512gb NVME in the optional PCI adapter and an 8GB Nvidia Quadro. At the moment he has no complaints.

It caused all manner of issues from the mild confusion you have noticed to full crashes of our USB 3 docking stations and weid issues where it's not possible to get the actual presentation onto an extended monitor at all until the device is restarted. Not like a snipping tool job, the silk-screen type! Does anyone on Edugeek do it, either as part of their role or for fun? We've done our Leavers hoodies in house for nearly 5 years now using our vinyl cutter and heatpress, but we've always just done the school name, leavers, and a big varsity font number for the year. This year, even though the PTFA provides the hoodies for free, the parents are up in arms that the children's names aren't on the hoodie. Historically it's because it's really awkward to get the big vinyl cutter to cut that small, and takes hours to weed out. We've done it this year, but it's really not sustainable as it's cost a lot in vinyl and hours of time from the PTFA to weed it and press it. Screening would be a much more economical way to do it - we can create a mask image on the cutter, apply it to a screen and run through the whole lot in a matter of a couple of hours. I was wondering if anyone else here has got into screen printing who'd be willing to talk me through any tips or potential pitfalls I haven't foreseen! I've printed before years ago, but it was with someone else preparing the mask.

I think, despite apparent advances in baked-in endpoint protection, Microsoft still struggles with the concept that securing the fundamentals of their OS is actually their problem and not something that they can slopey-shoulder to their customers. A 3rd party app being able to break the OS is case in point, but also the fact that there is MFA support in M365 and lots of evangelizing about it, but the MFA support within the OS itself can be best described as patchy!
