Yes, I suspect that your user level GPO does not have rights to remove system level printers. You can try recreating the GPO assigned to PCs, with a computer policy of delete all and then a user policy to create in the same policy, but that's a bit cludgey and I'm not really expecting it to work but it might be a quick fix. Personally, I'd be abandoning the 'deployed printers' way of doing it, and moving everything, including the delete into the one GPO with item level targeting.

This mechanism 100% works, but we need to get the right combination of user/computer policy settings, user/computer scopes and permissions can we get a few screenshots of your policy, settings and scope?

That's an access deinied... Go into Common and tick 'run in security context of logged on user' and see if it helps.

Media allows you to create bootable task sequence media to deploy without a network boot, and in some cases without network access at all!

I've recently put a load of 60kg 86" up... The fixings I put in for that were industrial chem fixings as the blockwork is lightweight and would have cracked with rawlbolts. We tested each fixing with a simulation of the whole weight of the screen for 30 minutes. No carnage here.

We're primary so it's a bit different to secondary. It's down to individual staff whether they use it or not, but we have the MIS app pushed to all staff devices via MDM - one site is Meraki the other is Apple school manager. Generally the devices are personally assigned and are for recording other evidence as well so are single user. Our MIS app requires both a staff login to the app and a pin to access registers.

That'll do it... Add it to the knowledgebase!

Thanks I wasn't aware of the Redirect Known Folders facility, I'll test that in the summer. Has cloud drive mapper changed recently? I tried it about 6 months ago as a trial on 2 different sites and I just couldn't make it reliable enough to justify moving to it - it was failing to map probably 1 out of 5 logins and when it did work it took significantly longer than people were happy to wait. Our current on prem setups fails to map about once every 6 months!

MS admin center - an overview of a users storage
Oaktech replied to PBrawn's topic in Cloud Services
I can't help you with Teams, but according to MS you should be able to broadly check sharepoint like this: SharePoint Online Log in to Office 365 (portal.office.com) as administrator, and select Admin > Reports > Usage scroll down to Sharepoint Files -> view more explore that pane, it may not give you exact figures in MB but it'll give you file counts that would be indicative. More than that I think you'll need to opt in to office analytics and use Power BI. -
Don't get me wrong, It's certainly getting better, and I did move a small company (30 people, of which 10 are regular users) from a terrible on prem SBS2008(!) setup to Azure hosted desktops with Office 365, but they only have 2 layers of access control: Finance/HR and everything else, that went OK, and it helps that they no longer even attempt use anything locally. I still cannot see a slick way of it working hybrid in schools who are reliant on mapped drives and redirected folders.

That's what I thought too... But I can't make it work. The Sata M.2 in either adapter works in a Dell R710 but not in an HP DL380 (Gens 6-8). I stuck a generic chinese SSD in a drive bay of the DL and that worked just fine.
-
Because every experience I've had with cloud exclusive storage has been massively negative - slow clunky, awkward to manage and with poor granular controls. Until I'm happy to recomend it, I won't.
-
I have both NVME and SATA M.2 drives available... Neither work.
-
Sorry, are these actual smart boards, or interactive screens? If they're interactive screens what model are they because I've had a load of issues with the 4065 model doing something similar which ended up with them being replaced under warranty.
-
My DL380s won't recognize M.2 however it is applied, I've got a SATA to M.2 drive bay adapter and one of these and gave up on all counts!
-
Not sure - I've never tried it. I always use one GPO for all printers and item level targeting to differentiate between user groups. It's better for performance anyway.

Let me grab one and try it...

Always worth a GPUpdate /sync when you make a change like that.

[bromcom] Bromcom performance issues at peak times
Oaktech replied to ultimatepie's topic in MIS Systems
I've removed my post. Perhaps I misunderstood the person I spoke to, or perhaps they meant they were literally right about to scale out. -
I'm still very wary of exclusively hosting stuff in the cloud, when your users are almost exclusively on site... If you need the mobility, sure, why not, but unless you have a monumental internet connection you are artificially limiting your file performance.

Once they've gone they've gone: it's usually the resistance path for the key that has changed/gone or the contact material has been washed away by cleaning. A few times I've had issues that were resolved by repeatedly pressing the faulty keys because they had a lack of use of lockdown and had become oxidised or something, because use cleared the fault.

Create a Delete, 'Delete all shared printer connections' action at the top, remove the one you don't want to keep, leave any you do, let the GPO do it's thing. There's a tiny processing overhead on the GPO with the delete all in place, but on modern hardware it's negligible.

Locally installed Office software licensing - OVS or M365?
Oaktech replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Office Software
We had lots of issues with software failing to aquire a licence, or taking 5-10 minutes after the device started before a licence was available, and therefore failing to start when required. We had issues with staff using/relying on the 'autosave' feature and ending up not knowing whether their document was in onedrive or local, sure it could be viewed as a training issue, but undoing, in some years, 20 years of locally licensed software usage is not a 5 minute job. Staff felt that they wasted whole lessons with mobile devices that should have remained activated but lost activation on resuming from device standby requiring, depending on staff or student device, either someone to sign in again and activate, or to go through the menu and activate the software. Activating the software took whole minutes of waiting. And then there were the inevitable, 'I forgot my password so I can't do *any* work' we use WSUS for updates and office software is updated automatically anyway. Path of least resistance was to revert back to Office 16 and change the development roadmap to continue using it until it leaves support and then move to '19 until it leaves support and in the mean time get everyone used to using 365 at home at their own pace. -
Meraki Wireless Trial Problems with returning Kit.
Oaktech replied to ICT_GUY's topic in Wireless Networks
I've had a similar experience returning some HPE Warranty Failures - we had a power cut and 2 switches in our core stack failed to come back on. HPE sent replacements inside 24hrs, but then the returns service asked for a reference number that wasn't there and the threatening emails started arriving while I was waiting for returns to sort out the reference number I needed. Quoting them the ticket number of the enquiry for the reference number made them back off, but when it was finally picked up by DHL it was returned to us 24 hours later as refused by recipient and the threatening emails turned up. Got cross and phoned DHL to demand tracking data and discovered they had tried to deliver the parcel at 7pm. DHL apologised and said their driver had been spoken to and they'd 'mis coded' the attempt. They came and picked it up again the same day and this time it got to the warehouse in Manchester, but then got lost inside the warehouse somewhere. I obviously have no control of a 3rd party groupage provider but HPE were not happy about it, and continued to send me emails until I phoned them and DHL at the same time and got them on a conference call together to discuss what had happened.
