I would lay reasonable money on it... Although, having said that, it's worth a try to add domain computers as read to the security filtering on all redirection GPOs.

Local... Redirected start menu, docs. That's it. Local appdata, local downloads. Profiles removed by script every 30 days.

I'm not sure redirected appdata is a good idea... We get all sorts of weirdness on W10 at the site that does that.

Yup, my old servers have been given sufficient space and horsepower to operate a reduce functionality, reduced resiliency, network while the SAN is repaired if necessary. They got an upgrade from 1TB sas (in 4x 250gb) to 8TB sata (in 4x 2tb) storage and memory hike from 16 to 32gb ram and then got repurposed into non critical roles. I can pull them out and restore to them if necessary.

I'm a halfway house between simple and complex. I have a minimal number of VMs - one file server VM with a robust backup, one V-DC, one physical DC, one print server, one RDS gateway, 2 RDS hosts, one Direct Access, One Utility (with WSUS & SCCM & Power Management) as simple an AD structure as I can get away with, one Physical backup server. Only 3 VLans (default, management and phones) but it's all built on a San with a pair of Hyper V clustered hosts.

Tried a memory diagnostic? I had something similar with an Excel user and it turned out to be a dodgy memory module.

I've got one, it's reprap/marlin based jobby... We tried to do a module on 3d design last year using Sketchup and it proved to be too difficult. out of a year 6 of nearly 100 kids, 1 managed to create a print that actually sliced and it wouldn't print properly due to too many fine and unsupported components. I wouldn't bother getting one for curriculum purposes but it's bloody handy for making parts for blinds, and tablet wall holders, and 3.5-2.5 tray adapters and such like. Mine is open frame but the site manager has made a wiremesh frame to just plonk round it when it's running.

SSD FTW. I've noticed that just the upgrade to 10 can kill a spinning disk if it was marginal before! With 120gb SSD at £10-£15 depending on the volume you purchase it's a total no-brainer.

we have 12" for students (primary school) and 12"-14" for staff except in certain cases. The exec head has a 17" monster because she uses it for hours and hours, and the BM has a 15.6" because it's the smallest thing we can give her with a num pad, we have one lady with eye issues who docks her 13" Latitude and works on a 32" TV at 1280x1024 that we picked up on FB marketplace for £15 because the tuner doesn't work!

I've got 2x IBM eServer x306m 1u rack servers. They don't have the rack part of the rack rails. They're dated 12/06 and they've got 3.4ghz Pentium D and 4 GB RAM (accepts up to 8GB) and 2x 73.4GB 15k SAS drives. They're fully working, no bad blocks or warnings They've been used by a friend of mine to run his shopping website but he's changed to remote hosting because of internet connection issues at his unit. If you want them, they're yours. Collect from Poole or arrange a courier.

I've had something that smells a lot like this, and I'm not sure which thing I did cured it - I gave domain computers read access to the affected GPOs and I also restarted the fileserver over night. since I did that a couple of weeks ago nothing has failed to redirect. Exactly this... There is nowhere in Integris either and we were manually striking students off the printed fire (as in, with a pencil and a ruler, manually) lists when they left early.

We use InVentry. Early leaving students are only recorded for fire purposes and in the event of a fire, we leave the building with the evac tablets it's the sole responsibility of one person to inform each class about pupils who are known absent.

I'm dropping 0% on internal connections. I'm dropping approx 0.5-1% to a mapped drive in a data centre. 5% would be the top end of what I'd accept before I got the link supplier to look into that for me.

I've found that the stock method won't change the image upon request, it has to do it on a background refresh, although some times logging into the machine and doing Win+L will force it from the blue screen to the one it's supposed to be.

I've used LigoWave for PTP stuff, 3 or 4 times and it's good kit for that. I would expect their general purpose wifi to also be good, but there is absolutely nothing that competes with UniFi on value for money.

I've just replaced 4 Pentium G series Novatech's with Lenovo M58p 3.1ghz C2D with 4GB Ram and SSD and 1803. We got the PCs donated! The staff are absolutely wowed by them. They build off SCCM in about 20 minutes, and sure, they're power hungry compared to a newer PC, but as we already run electric heating, it's but a drop in the ocean to our electricity bill! SSD Every time.

There are long and distinguished discussions on the support forums. no-one appears to know why, but there are a number of 'fixes' out there. The easiest and the one with the apparent highest success rate is probably to drag the taskbar to somewhere else and then put it back. I've had the same problem with the whole start menu. the start menu thinks it's redirected, the folder behind it is present and complete, the user can search the start menu and everything, but it's just not there to see. Drag the taskbar somewhere else, put it back, everything is there. Go Figure.

(devils advocate) You only need VLSC if you don't have legit and activated COAs for your windows installs. If you don'y use anything else special, you're good - it's getting moot point with windows 10 anyway, once it's installed and activated the upgrades are for free.

Our standard spam filter cranked all the way up is pretty good at catching most phishing attempts, the only ones that have come through are ones from genuine accounts that we've previously had contact with that have been compromised - 2 from local schools and an adoption agency that asked us for a reference etc. Our staff are pretty good at spotting a scam now though. They've flagged the 3 that did make it through. Also, 2FA for important accounts.

We have a max indicated usage of about 15 at a time. We currently use a single virtual machine as session host, with 8 cores and 16gb ram plus a second gateway/broker with 2 cores and 4gb ram. I've had no complaints about performance. As we're about to absorb another school into our network, I'm going to be either adding a second session host to the farm or I'm going to repurpose their domain server to combine all roles - that has 2x 12 cores ,32gb ram and 8TB of 10k sas. Depends if I get all the data off over the summer or if I have to redirect some of it until the following half term.

We still use a .sch.uk because some suppliers will automatically extend credit to .sch.uk addresses but won't to .co.uk You need your school ID to make it happen. It resulted in a lot of lastminute.com registering and config when we renamed at my last place.
