  1. General question regardless of the MIS system you happen to be using... Any schools out there using classroom based iPADS for the capture of attendance through the day? If so, could you outline how you set them up to be optimised for ease of use and speed of taking the register? Also, how did you secure them in the classroom to ensure they didnt go walkabouts Do you use any particular software to manage them? Are they multiuser in that multiple teachers can use the same device depending on who is using the classroom? Many thanks. Answers to any or all of the above would be great
  2. Curious as to what CRM platforms others are using with their MIS systems. We are considering a Dynamics implementation (predominantly a Microsoft house) and possibly a HigherEd version of Dynamics. Interested in what other viable CRM options that are out there being used by others (Salesforce feels far too big and corporate, maybe I am wrong) Equally, is this something you are considering? Do you know what processes or functions you would plan to start with? i.e. start with using CRM to drive the admissions/intake pipeline management for example If there is somewhere else I though be crossposting this let me know!
  3. Hi, its been a while since you posted this, how have you gotten on since, we are mid deploying iSAMS and I expect we will need to use the API to grab key information to support other business processes like AD account creation, O365 account creation, Moodle course assignments etc ... would be great to hear how you have progressed. Also has anyone tried a direct database connection as opposed to operating via API?
  4. Appreciate the feedback folks, I guess the solution that works best can be different for different schools depending on the infrastructure, iSAMS options selected, tech savviness of the staff etc etc ... If anyone else has a solution that works really well for their school for iSAMS attendance capture please do share it here, thanks!
  5. Many thanks for that Drew, much appreciated. Would you happen to have any stats (guesses even) on how long it takes for a teacher to log in and take the register start to finish when using their own device? Do you use 2FA for authentication, does this present a barrier for the teachers logging in, and finally, are there any data concerns/considerations for teachers accessing the pupil data from personal devices? Thanks again, Brian
  6. Feel free to point me to another post if this is already answered but we are working through a deployment of iSAMS and I need to make a recommendation on the solution to capture the attendance in the class. We will be using the iTeacher portal, so my question is moreso what you have found worked best for this in terms of - what device to use (tablet, phone, laptop)? - provided by the school or BYOD, or a device that remains in the classroom ? - does it meet the expectations of the teachers taking the attendance (ease of use)? many thanks...
  7. Excellent, thanks, sent a PM to coordinate a discussion
  8. Good morning, any body out there with a configuration of iSAMS with Sage as opposed to the iFinance package that would be willing to have a brief discussion with our school (Institute of Education, Dublin) to share your experience? We are particularly interested in integration between the two and API's etc. Many thanks Brian
  9. Appreciate that, and was aware of Keith Johnson's - not sure it offers the ability though for the student to access the master timetable and build their own timetable by selecting the subject/teacher combination they want. We offer a lot of flexibility to the student here, for example we may have three different teachers teaching higher level maths at different times and the student can select the teacher they want to do it with based on where the availability is in their timetable. Thanks again Brian
  10. Thanks for those suggestions … While I've not have any involvement in SIS/MIS or Timetabling recently I do remember using Facility or CCM Scheduler back in the '90's! and noughties. Our current MIS is completely bespoke built on Filemaker, customised to provide a lot of non-standard functionality which is going to prove hard to leave behind! cheers again Brian
  11. Thanks!, I will take a look into that to see if it has potential. Its a pretty specific and unique requirement we have so not expecting there will be lots of choice. As for doing it manually ….
  12. Hi all... Looking to see if anyone on the forum is aware of a School timetabling solution that will generate the master timetable based on a set of restrictions, and then provide for a portal to allow the student to login and build their own timetable from the master... This is a second level school dealing mainly with years 10/11/12 Regards, Brian
