  1. Hi all, Just after some feedback with regards to the above. We have Sophos XGS with web filter along with ContentKeeper that also filters/monitoring. Sophos doesn't do a great monitoring product.... which is a real shame, its a big hole in their product lineup, i've made them aware they are going to lose education customers to competitors products...... We're getting a lot of pressure to find a better monitoring solution. CK just isn't great for us. We're looking at Lightspeed and securely, We are a Google school so lots of Chromebooks and windows PCs. Just after some insight from people using these products and what you think? Cheers

  3. My understanding is the Youtube isn't part of the "Core" service so you'd have to buy a license for this. We're on a paid tier of Workspace and still don't get youtube premium. unless i've been missing something for years! https://edu.google.com/intl/ALL_uk/workspace-for-education/editions/overview/

  5. We looked at 5g as we just had a mast installed on the main road...... however signal is still pap
  6. We do, Virgin media optical and a seperate BT line. However, yes you're right...... they both exit the building onto main road at the same point......so yea, watch where you're diggin Bolton Council!
  7. Post #14 what you after? /forums/windows-11/239827-windows-11-gpo-settings-reg-settings-might-useful.html
  8. We're no longer using SIMs, but we had the same issue...... iirc we had to disabled on access scanning on the "SIMs" folder......but allow it on write..... it was a while back. But is wasn't an exception rule..... not sure if that helps
  9. We pay for Google premium, and Gemini is an additional cost. I've been made aware that the Google will be offering discount to education for gemini....more so if you already pay for a Premium tier..... The cost is ludicrous for education... with 25% discount its £15.5k for our staff to use...... it's never going to happen. especially when you get it "free" with a domestic account..... it should be free for education.....esp if you're already on a paid tier...... There's not going to be much uptake...... and its going to fall on its Ar*e as a result.
  10. I was only involved in the tender from a technical standpoint..... the school said we'd like X i found a few products Verkarda, motorola avigilon, Paxon, etc..... we had to go to tender.... We had a trial of Verkarda, Avigilon and a cheap independent to cover costing tiers...... Verkada was the most expensive initially (indicative pricing), but said they would submit their pricing very late as they were announcing a Educational pricing tier that hadn't been announced. Once they did that they were the cheapest. We also had new switching. wiring and anpr vape etc etc No idea what the final cost was.... but we bought the kit upfront, (10 year warranty) and there's an annual cost for licensing.
  11. You can also sync video to the cloud. Data is also encrypted on the devices. more info here: https://www.verkada.com/uk/security/#device
  12. we're not a serverless school though

    What next?!

Yeah we just dump a sysprep'd empty image via fog...... work great for us
  14. With regards to verkarda..... you now have an option to drop your legacy cameras into their system now..... its more of a hybrid setup.... but another option... https://www.verkada.com/uk/security-cameras/command-connector/
  15. We're Verkada here. Which is cloud, no NVR/DVRs. We also went dedicated switch gear as we didn't have the port capacity to drop onto our current "data" switching. We have a fs.com sfp+ "core" switch with fs.com edges. No NVRs/DVRs....it all connects to our firewall on a different port/network. we've only had it 3 months, not enabled everything yet, waiting on SLT to make some decisions...... its been great so far....day and night.... got rid of 15 NVR/DVRs .... slight decrease in camera numbers 180 now from 200, mainly due to us using fisheye to cover areas that would need 3/4 cams .... but we also have the vape sensors...... which have highlighted a issue we didn't realise was so bad! All footage is stored locally to cameras, with the option to upload to the cloud if required for data retention archiving etc etc. Very impressed with it...... Just glad it wasn't my money!

  17. We've had this. I seem to recall us having to mess with some records..... i'll have to unpick what's actually involved.

    What next?!

We use FOG here......... just started to deploy windows 11 with it.... Thin image, the we use PDQ to do a post deployment software install.... PDQ also do "SmartDeploy" which does reimaging and ties everything together..... however i've not had time or a trial of smartdeploy yet. PDQ deploy and inventory is epic. best thing i've ever had bought for me
  20. Just VPN into the site. that would be best. We use Sophos here. And have a VPN just for the NM and senior Tech.
  21. Just wondering if anybody uses these and if you have any feedback. From what i understand, they are managed via FS.com's "Airwave" cloud platform. Cheers
  22. i suspect that education pro will be killed off and the "new" offering will be pushed..... https://www.imperosoftware.com/impero-classroom-management-software/
