Yeah my first IT job in Edu it had a LEA provided internet. Getting ports opened for BES and Exchange took months. It was my one and only experience of a setup. We migrated filtering to in house so we could leverage AD based filtering policies and have more control with the goal to move away from the LEA provided ISP which they did after I'd moved on.

My experience with Unifi Video (limited) was that I had to open ports but with Unifi Protect I did not need to. I put the whole CCTV system on a separate isolated network with security rules only allowing traffic such as NTP and DNS to internal servers but allowing more free access to the internet from the Unifi NVR. I'd recommend not opening ports to Unifi Video anymore and look at using a VPN to gain access to the Unifi Video system.

By convertor I meant that it would convert the signal to protocol standards so it would flow though a switch. If it is just converting an input from VGA to RJ45 that is different.

Is the unit an extender or a network interface/convertor? If it is just an extender it won't work when connected through a network switch.

If servers off site there is still going to be some IT tech on site in most cases.

Was the DHCP scope updated on the server? One thing I have seen before was infinite leases, these can cause issues and I would not recommend, a reservation is far better if you do need something on a fixed IP. Even if you have something static, for instance I've seen HP printers go back to DHCP before now for no apparent reason.

I don't know. I'm wondering what will happen if phone is unplugged. I'm on a VOIP service with my ISP now and don't have a normal phone line anymore.

In theory it is just a 802.1x WPA Enterprise authentication system at the end of the day. I'd look on the EduRoam org support pages as well and post some questions on the support pages. I had 802.1x running on Unifi at home a while back but it broke and I could not be bothered to fix it. This was just using Windows NPS and autheniticating against AD but it should work same way with EduRoam as it is just a matter of putting the Radius servers in Unifi in a server group profile. Interesting One of the main differences between managed and unmanaged (dumb switches) is that the unmanaged (dumb) switches have no vlan capability, smart type switches can have vlans though. https://www.comms-express.com/infozone/faq/what-is-the-difference-between-smart-managed-managed-unmanaged-network-switches/ So I would check to see what IP address settings you are getting on a client that is working and one that is not, specifically looking at DNS settings and make sure that the client is connecting/authenticating to the domain etc. When logged into a PC open a run box and %NETLOGON% and see if you can identify a faulty Domain Controller by comparing results between PCs that work and those that do not. The other possibility is a faulty switch I guess, I have noticed these to give DHCP issues in the past. I would also run dcdiag commands on the domain controllers to make sure there are no issues that could be effecting.

Try reseting the phone that is not working back to Factory defaults. I cannot understand as you why it is not picking up IP address. Maybe phone itself is faulty??

You could get a 2930f that has 4 x SFP+ ports and 24 x 1G ports for around 1K or cheaper and gives you the ability to move to a small stacked core using VSF although it is limited to the amount of SFP+ ports. But if you have small runs upto 100meters with 1G copper or even fibre using some Fibre to Ethernet convertors it should not pose to much of an issue. A VSF stack is flexible and as long as you use the same port types on each member. We use them as Edge switches or Top of Rack switches at work. Even a Ubiquiti ES-16-XG would probably do the job although misses some Dynamic Routing, Stacking and some other but they may not be needed depends on your need. Just think throwing a UDM in between your network and Smoothwall is going to complicate the setup and a Layer 3 switch may be the better option.

Is this by doing a fresh install of 20H2 or an upgrade? I would suggest speaking to MS but last time I spoke to the Volume licensing team about a query when we upgraded office they did not know what a KMS server was (or maybe could not bother raising the issue higher).

We put in about 90 2540s PoE+ switches about 3 years ago and have been rock solid with no failures. As we had specific needs for these specific locations such as for wired NAC controlled access these were great investment and tie in with our NAC that we use for WiFi as well giving a complete BOYD solution whether on Wired or WiFi. Rolling out was easy as configured a PowerShell script to dump config in a txt file and then just pasted in to the cli console. we could of done some sort of auto provisioning but had limited time to get one sorted out.

I have a Prusa MK3, bought in kit form took me a few days to build but you can get them pre-built for under 1k. This is my first 3d printer too. You could use OctoPrint for most of the features like a camera if OctoPrint compatible with the printer? I'd recommend the following YouTube channels Teaching Tech and Thomas Sanladerer The one thing that I was concerned about was getting a 3d printer that had proprietary slicing software. The Prusa comes with PrusaSlicer which is based on Slic3r and was easily exporting from Fusion360 to a format which the slicer could recognise. But as others have said there are printers out there which are cheaper, very easy to modify and plenty of upgrade options such as the Ender 3

I use a USB device server that connects to Ethernet adapter for using USB drives with VMs on VMWare, think they are Silex the ones I have had success with. They may work with licensing dongles but I think the application of using one to capture from VHS may be stretching the ability TBH. Not saying it would not work. I suppose you have the Copyright situation covered?
