Hi Guys, Our current Sims server is a DC. If I demote it will I have issues with sims? Since the hardware is out of warranty we're looking to do a P2V conversion and add it to our ESX Cluster. Obviousely I can see big issues if we have leave the server as a DC and then have to roll back to the original server, so I want to demote it first.

I had this on version 9 (I think it was 9.2), a complete uninstall, remove any left overs from program files and then reinstall did the trick.

Our Hitachi is attached to a wall, it was supplied with bracket by Smarter Solutions. I don't know anyt details about the bracket (we had them fit it for us.) Smarter Solutions Ltd The Toshs are ceiling mounted, the reason I mentioned them is we've been about to use them as a straight swap for our HP/Sanyo projectors. Not as good as a short throw, but much cheaper and easier to fit.

Have you started looking in the logs of your procurve switches and seeing which ports are busy? It also might be worth using something like wireshark to see what sort of trafic is bouncing round the network at a given time. A separate VLAN will probably prevent your boarders slowing down the main network. They'll probably slowdown their own segment and they might well also stil satuated your WAN connection. But untill you find out what actualy causing the issue you can't be certain. EDIT: Another thought, are they looping the network?

We had one as part of our lecture thearter build. We don't have a licence for it, I don't think we need one. Maybe some specialist kit needs it, I can for instance imagine TV/Radio companies needing to garantee that no one else is using the same frequncy.

If you use mandatory profiles it might be worth elimianting that as a possible cause.

You only use CN= for built in OUs, you shoukld use OU= for ones you've created. I think you might have to add all the users to a security group and then specify the LDAP path for this.

Have a look in c:\documents and settings for cached profiles. You might find the last modfied date of one of the files will give you a clue. It you have a printer setup you might also want to have a look on your print server since if they printed anything. For future reference you might want to add something along the lines of "echo %USERNAME% %TIME% %DATE% >> [some secret location]\%computername%.txt" to your logon script. Also get papercut logger (it's free) and will log all print jobs.

It depends on the system you use. If you're just using a PC with power point then it can easily be standalone. We use a system called OneLan where changes are made remotley through a web brower, you can't make changes on the box it's self. So it needs to be on the network. Why the objection to having it on the network.
