Can't print PDF files Officejet on Server 2003
K.C.Leblanc replied to GoldenWonder's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
PDFs tend to break host based printers. Two things to try, Print direct to the I.P. address. You could try using foxit reader. -
The older Lucas Arts point and click games (Sam & Max, Day Of The Tenticle, Full Throttle, The Digg and Monkey Island 1&2) can be played on modern machines using ScummVM. All very good.

We've got Nelson Thornes e-Science here. After making enquirories about patches to make it work with a current version of Java they said they'd upgrade me to version 1.1. They also told me this could just be shared from a server (without a local install), however they then said they don't include instruction for doing this. Now I've received the new discs, but every time I call their tech support team I get told I'll be called back (you can guess where this is going). Anyone been through this process and know what I have to do. I've tried just installing it and sharing the folder, it runs but wouldn't find most of the resources.

Is there an official replacement, or are we meant to use SYSPrep?

Interactive Whiteboard - 'dual use' ?
K.C.Leblanc replied to iSteve's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
To be honest it sounds a bit too late anyway since your business manager has already ordered them. You need to be talking to the headteacher about this, for IWBs to be effective teachers need to be able to share resources and methods. You really need to standardise your IWBs. I personaly would discourage the use of pens on IWBs not matter what the official instructions are. If needed get some normal whiteboards for your ludites. -
FastResolver will do the same thing, plus it'll work from a list of host names. It will however do some odd things if you've got stale DNS records. I've created a spreadsheet of host names and mac addresses in excel and then used the CONCATENATE to create any scripts I need. The only headache I had was with wol.exe. It needs mac addresses without hyphens, ented up usign the function =CONCATENATE("wol ",REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(B25,3,1,""),5,1,""),7,1,""),9,1,""),11,1,"")). I'm sure there's a better way to do it.

Does it's part number end in an A, B or C?

No, they don't work if you leave them inside the box. Atleast I can't use software that's still in the box. Maybe my mind powers arn't strong enough.
-
I've never even tryed thinking while inside a box, who'd do something like that?

We're really lazy here. Most of our computers have the manufacturer's wallpaper or a blank desktop.

Apart from any accounts package that does both payroll and invoicing.

Maybe we should meger this forum with the Netware one?

Students bypassing Screen Lock in First Security Agent. How?
K.C.Leblanc replied to gill's topic in How do you do....it?
I don't know if it'll play ball with your first security doofer, but Microsoft do a free download called Steadystate. It lets you writeprotect user's profiles so no changed are saved when they log off. You could also use a mandatory profiles ot achive the same effect. They'll still be able to change the wallpaper but it'll disapear when someone logs off. -

Are they using the 'set as desktop background' options in IE or Paint. Are these machines stand alone or are they on a network. DO users have their own accounts? -
Ah the silver lining, I'm single so no inlaw (there was only one).

Can we please ban any mention of the c word until the start of December. It is without doubt one of the most hateful times of the year.

We got some quotes for I-Desks, they were about a grand per seat.

The licence isn't tied like it is on XP. You should just be able to order both media.

It was a shame Rubbens didn't do better. He's qualified well so many times at Interlagos, but never converted it into a race. I even remember him putting a Jordan on second when they were considered to be a three legged donkey. However it's been a great season, brilliant consitency from Jenson (considering it's been a season of ups and downs all round), I just hope he can keep it up for next season. Oh and lets hope next years McLaren isn't cack.

Lexmark, who I have to say I've always avoided after having to use their inkjets in the past (which were consistently cack). I've never used a Lexmark laser. Any good?
