Done this a few times. It Is very easy. 1. Build new server 2. Backup old and export file 3. Turn off old 4. Restore backup on new 5. Update DNS record.

Looks like the redirect data is on the local PC. Why do you have that anyway? Maybe just kill that setting?

The school has a legal obligation to keep data secure. Jeopardising that by knowingly deploying software that could cause a security incident will likely have consequences.

So then you have a DHCP server running. It’s just not on traditional server hardware, but a server nevertheless.
-
It wouldn’t be a good idea to use it anyway. It will be riddled with security vulnerabilities.

Pretty sure there isn’t such thing as a server less school… they must be using some kind of DHCP server running. Maybe on network hardware.

That isn’t actually true. It became a pandemic in March [emoji638][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]][emoji638][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]]. [emoji637][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji637]]] is from when it was first detected. Might be a good quiz question one day!

I am looking at standardising our 500 ish estate of screens. Will certainly be doing some testing!

Hello, We figured it out. The content was was written for a specific screen resolution and wasn't responsive. I do plan on exploring Chrome OS more for our digital screens. We literally have hundreds of them. No idea why these things are the odd one out using a third party app. Cheers

We have a couple of ChromeBox devices that run an interactive HTML site, connected to touch screens. They are using the Kiosk app found here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/kiosk/afhcomalholahplbjhnmahkoekoijban?hl=en - The devices are managed on Google Workspace. We have replaced the screens, however, the content is not displaying properly, it isn't scaling and only showing the top left corner. The Chromebox itself is fine, when we boot and use CTRL + ALT + S the display is fine. So it looks like it is specific to the app. I can't figure out how this app is configured. I was looking for settings to try and fix this display issue. I can't see setting in the Google Workspace tenant for it. For example the URL it points to. Maybe it's configured locally. Does anyone have any suggestions please? Or maybe does anyone have any alternative ideas? Thanks

Thinking about blocking HTTP ...
FN-GM replied to MatthewL's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
That could be Windows update. I know it uses HTTP as well as HTTPS. -
802.1x will stop them from getting anywhere.

I was at the post office today. A plastic bubble mailer (inside and out) was $[emoji637] cheaper than the paper equivalent…

Not what you asked, but thought it could be useful if you go down this route. Watch out for the cost of the ink. Some of them have a bizarre cartridge that costs of fortune. To the point it offset any savings of using the machine in the first place.

I read this as it was approved the be executed on 1st September and actually approved on the 26th.

They described it as a standard change so shouldn’t have gone to CAB in the first place.

What legality is that please? Cars have had anti theft trackers for decades.

Lift Schools and Bromcom Computers Plc joint statement
FN-GM replied to jbrowning_LiftSchools's topic in MIS Systems
“Bromcom’s motivation is to ensure that schools receive the best service at the best price” How nice of them to do this out of the goodness of their hearts. -
Look at the job description. It’s likely (not certain) to be a topic covered in there.
