Lanschool - Anyone that uses it please help
bondbill2k2 replied to mattmoo's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Revival of an old thread, im trying to view laptops over the wireless using lanschool, I have enabed broadcast forwarding plus set Ethernet multicast mode to unicast but still not luck. Any ideas would be great thanks, the laptops are all on the same vlan.Whave a cisco 5500 wireless manager and Cisco aironet 1142 AP's if that helps -
Thanks for the advice guys, Ive changed the products and classification to just the OS's we use, crit updates, security updates, updates and service packs. Auto approval is on default for critical and security updates. Looking at the search filters 5200 of the updates are installed or not applicable to the test room of 10 computers so I will approve all of those for any future computers and others I will be adding, only a few to filter out now My main concern is how deployment will effect users, all machines are set to update at 10:00 as the computers are on then, will I get long load times after setup? I havn't experienced anything bad wit hthe test machines so far

I have setup a WSUS server for our network and need to ask how do I go about approving updates, I know I can click and approve per group, all groups or inherit but I have over 5500 updates to approve, should I approve a few at a time? If so which ones? Can I delete any update which says this update is superseded?...Where do I start? A large amount of these updates are already on machines or from vista or s2008r2 which we do not use. Thanks!

Its worth seeking and asking places even if just to hand a CV in for future reference, as other people have said find something to do in the mean time regardless of what that may be, retail, IT, bar work etc.... Totaljobs is a great site and check on the directgov site daily, if you need help with your CV people on here will help if you let us know what yo uhave so far

WSUS client GPO config question
bondbill2k2 replied to bondbill2k2's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
Thanks MC, It is a domain enviroment and I have set the WSUS server for downloading and status update information, I was just wondering if the 'Configure Automatic Updates' beign enabled would effect the location settings, I have disabled the option of collecting updates from Microsoft Updates and I wondered about the proxy as if the computer is trying to use a none exitent proxy doesn't the update service use ISS for communication and would fail due to this proxy as its not set to bypass for local addresses. -
I've just setup my first WSUS server and I'm configuring a client workgroup to test everything is setup ok but I have a couple of questions and I would be greatful if anyone could fill me in about the recommended configuration. On the clients if I enable the 'Configure Automatic Updates' will the client still try to use Microsoft updates over the internet rather then our WSUS server? The description in GPO console makes it sound like it would. When clients attempt to connect to the WSUS server will the computer try to use the proxy settings defined as a few clients on our network still have the computer defined policy as our old and now removed cachepilot, an easy fix just changing this to our smoothwall but just checking as some on the server are having a few hundred updates as 'no status' Thanks

Well that was a complete farse! @13:21 -"users could now use the site" http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/11/28/ebuyer_down_cyber_monday/ No I wasn't able to still at 15:00!

depends if they will use it, just wait till its ipads and macbook airs as standard. I agree, I don't get a laptop or any extra equipment, just a standard PC the same as teachers classroom workstations and on near a quarter of their wage *not jealous*

Previous years ebuyer have done great deals, a different deal each day like the first 100 ps3's for 60% off, those were great just stick to those sort of deals ebuyer not silly £1 offers, Im certain the idea is to bring in customers its almost marketing more then sales but its a failure as they cant take the demand and will put people off their service!

Right ive tryed to recreate the trusts between our DC and the DNS name cannot be found, the adminserver seems to be standalone not in any forest where the print server and curric DC are part of the councils forest -

Loosing mapped drives from admin client to curric dc
bondbill2k2 replied to bondbill2k2's topic in Windows 7
Long story short we are on central active directorys with the local council who have some contracters who manage the LG which we have to grant remote logon to our server due to "a problem" with the LG back in september , ever since they broke the trusts and we have not been able to set them back up, we have had the School ICT Support helping us and spend many hours trying to fix the trusts but still to no luck! Shall give it another go tho I havnt looked that closely at it thats been for the NM -

I loved Arkham city! MW3 is poor, you can complete the campain in under 4hours if your good and multiplayer maps suck, by far the best bit is spec ops and survival mode which are really good to be honest but they dont justify a full price game, its also a shame they are only 2 player, survival mode should be like horde mode on GOW 4/5players then it would be pretty epic.
