Automate clients local permissions over the network
bondbill2k2 replied to bondbill2k2's topic in Windows
Its not far off true tho a new thing every day things like this go unnoticed in GPO I find, thanks for that nice and easy too -
Its more of an overlay for windows 7 then a new OS IMO. At 3:05 he shows a normal windows 7 (what looks like it anyway) at the click of a button, reminds me of windows media center, looked neat but never used it over windos media player and a standard desktop UI but when used on a TV as a media station I can see its advantage, this looks great for a tablet but its nothing new its already on windows mobile devices which I really like but im yet to try one myself.

I have encoutered a few software problems on my new images sent out during the summer where students don't have the required permissions for certain bits of software, is there any method to automate a few folders security permissions, adding a group and settings their permissions rather then manually changing each computer?

I tend to do around 10min on a moderate working up to high intensity on the rowing machine as a warmup then treadmill 20mins starting around 6KMph for 3mins then abit faster then around 11KMph for about 10min then cool down to a fast walk/slow jog then sprint a little again until the time is up at 20min, on a tired day I will just keep fast walking around 6.5KMph on a heavy incline which feels easier and burns a little less but still gets my heart rate up to around 160bpm.Then the machine will cooldown for around 4mins to decrease my heartrate (using HRM on machine). Ill often do some cross-trainer for 15mins or cycle at a hard intensity. I only do weights twice a week to stop aches too much and I often have protein shakes now before strength workouts, 4 sets or 10 reps on all machines, some abit more. Lat pulldowns 35lbs Bench press 45lbs Seated press 40lbs (find this harder then bench) Peck deck 35lbs Abdominal crunch 156lbs Started to add pull-ups in there and im using machines rather then free weights as im often at the gym myself with no spotter for free weights.

Ive heared lots of things about spice and chilli helping your metabolisum and weight loss. Im pretty addicted to nandos peri-peri and have started to buy cheaper other branded peri-peri sauce, basically a sauce with birds-eye south african chillies, the hot and extraextra hot are the best tho And a nice flame grilled chicken breast in a chilli marinate is always a healthy meal packed with protein and with a few veg on the side

I'm trying to boot a standard tcp/ip ghost boot package created using ghost boot package wizard on a Toshiba Tecra A11-17C laptop. These laptops are the only computer in the school which have issues loading ghost, they will boot from the USB and load up the GUI, once the GUI background is displayed the user can move the mouse but a few seconds later the mouse will freeze and the computer will shortly after just shut down.

bondbill2k2 replied to bondbill2k2's topic in Windows
Ah simples thanks very much only took a few seconds -
I have a query....can I add local administrators or power users usign GPO or a script? I need to make staff power users on a group of machines and I dont plan on doing this 1 by 1 unless its a must, we dont have that much free time and if we did theres better things to do

What could cause this? Lines across the screen
bondbill2k2 replied to bondbill2k2's topic in General Chat
The one computer i've swapped the monitor over and a few hours later the same happened again, another one was rebooting not longer after the image changed so i'd rule out the screen with that one but it occurs quicker on the rebooter after around 20min, I have had problems with fans on a couple of these machines being very loud and having to be replaced too. -

These were DVI but no it didn't go away -
Three machines in the last week have had this problem a couple of times, some can be used for hours before it occurs others have booted up and had the problem straight away, one computer also restarted itself after a few seconds with no signs of why in the event log. I believe its called artifacting and related to overheating GPU? I had a simular experience with an old Xbox 360. Its simular the images below, Im yet to get a picture of our screens but shall do if it happens again. http://static.wix.com/media/804a236663b1ee2f268553325e4a66a9.wix_mp_256 http://media.photobucket.com/image/artifacting%20screen/ajexfred/th_27112010002.jpg?o=

Realtek HD Audio output not an option with M-Audio Delta 1010LT Multi
bondbill2k2 replied to bondbill2k2's topic in Hardware
The M-Audio has no 3.5mm jack and the students often used headphones in the front ports. Thanks SYNACK I didnt think to look at bios level and you were right it was disabled for some reason -_- -
During my new image builds I installed the latests starboard software for our Hitatchi Cambridge boards, version 9. Most of our boards use a USB to RS232 connection adaptors and have done for years due to their age and having no USB out so the image also includes the drivers for this. At first this seemed to work fine but we are having problems now where most teachers logging onto the machines with these boards cannot use them, starboard simply says "smartboard not connected" but Im able to log in using an administrator account and use the board without any issue. Has anyone else had this problem or something simular that could help me sorting this? Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Having setup our 5 new music machines during the summer holiday 2 of them will not output audio. The machines have a realtek on baord sound card with an M-Audio Delta 1010LT for input of keyboards and other instruments. On the two machines which arnt working the realtek HD device isn't reconised but the drivers are installed. Under windows volume controls > options > properties the only options for mixer devices are the M-Audio equiptment, those which do work have both the M-Audio equiptment and the Realtek HD output. Ive tryed removing the drivers for the M-Audio and Realtek then just install the realtek drivers but still the same problem...

During the summer I re-imaged our IT Rooms and tutor stations which went fine and a few days into the new term most problems have been resolved, however one machine in our IT Suite is having issues activating its XP license. The machine is the same spec and uses the same image as around 80 others in the school which have all been fine, they are a mini-atx computer supplied by STONE and the image uses a stone XP downgrade CD as they were originally vista. Is their any reason why this would happen? Any help would be greatly appreciated, the back to school rush is getting pretty intense so its not something ive looked into too much yet!

600cals per day is crazy low! Ive now lost 53lbs since Jan on 1500cals per day + exercise, slowed down abit recently as my food choices haven't been great this summer lots of bbqs and in hot weather ive not been to the gym much as its a cheap gym with no proper air con, I already have sweat visibly running down my chest during a good workout in cooler conditions lol. With such low intake and exercise on top youll end up burning muscle and putting your body into starvation so it will try to store much food as possible into fat. The high quick weight loss at the start will be mainly water weight you have been maintaning I lost 12lbs in the first week and never lost more then 2.5lbs after that in 1 week. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ Is a great site ive been using, their database has almost every food you can think of and you can use their app and barcode scanner to quickly add food or see its content, it will also let you view graphs of your progress, exercise and calorie intake over the last year.

Has anyone here tryed out the new "free to play" age of empries released last week? I've sunk a few hours into the free side of it and its pretty good, very strange having an MMORPG style RTS but it works! The question is, will I pay for the premium/extra content, its around £23 for the two civilisations and all their units and its a one off payment, im yet to get far into the game and the free campain is said t o take near 30hours to do and thats without the PVP and maxing out all the tech trees, if Im not bored by the time I reach around level 15 I will buy it I think, its not a cheap and badly made free to play like oh so many out there are its a fairly polished product and still in early days, the developers have spent time on this and If I do enjoy it like old AOEs then I think its only fair I have to pay for the better content and more PVP options. Ok it might not be as good as previous AOE's and the in game chat might be full of kids saying "this is a WOW clone" but its worth a go for the free content at least if your an RTS fan Home Page | Age of Empires Online

Hey I was wondering what is the best way to distribute 4.0 to around 60 machines as I cannot find a .net 4.0 redistribution package, only a standalone installer and have only ever used a couple of simpel MSI's for distribution in the past. Thanks, Thomas
