Well ive been given the task of sorting out these windows 7 machines for our network and im "trying" to get them working with staffs XP roaming profiles. I have downloaded the quite informative Vista Managing roaming user data deployment guide which is useful but it says to use the Group policy managment console on the vista client (GPMC.MSC) which doesn't exist on 7. From reading around the net I believe im on the right lines having downloaded and installed RSAT but im not sure where to go from here, the server manager tool says it only suports 2008 R2. Sorry if im overlooking the obvious here but its all a learning curve for me at the moment

Thats the same for everyone, your best off weighing 1st thing in the morning so its going on your body weight after food is digested rather then what you've eaten the past few hours and water weight. No point comparing weights from different times of day or other sets of scales as they might not be configured the same, im using a set of digital weight watchers as I researched and found they were the most accurate around for under around £50

Looks like everyone is making great progress! Well ive now lost 46lbs since January, purchased a few new tshirts the other day and opted for the L size, all previous for several years have been XL and I have some XXL. With this hot weather ive also tryed on some old shorts I found which no longer fitted me, 38" they are....they are falling off now without a tight belt! Great to see everyone is keeping it up! Not sure about my target, still got quite abit of belly I think 13 stone should be a good target which I aim to achive my winter Anyways its time to leave work now! Off the the gym!

Is there such a book out there or set of books which will cover the genral roles of an IT technician such as some server managment, software deployment, printer server setup and deployment and many others.... My current books are an A+ and N+ book, since taking on the role in January I have learned alot but something in writing to stop getting into bad habbits and asking quite so many questions would be great!

Ok its not a book but I highly recommend Professor Messers traning videos for the Comp TIA A+ and N+. I passed my 220-701 easily using these videos as a main source of information, taking notes on every video and used this as my study book Comp TIA A+ Certification All in one will be taking my 702 soon!

I have a simular situation here, tutor stations will be getting replaced and some offices but not the IT rooms this summer, we have ordered a couple for our IT office and shall be testing these and getting an image ready fo the full delivery. We are still on Server 2003 but we shall be updating next year, time to bite the bullet

Yep I tried this with no luck so I ruled out the script. Sorted now but I've no idea why the cause of this problem had even occured. Our curric subnet is 255.255.248.0.....the curric NIC on the print server was for some reason set to 255.255.248.0, changed it back to 248 and its fine but why it wrong i've no idea and neither does the network manager who locked up last night

Either the printer name was typed incorrectly, or the specified printer has lost its connection to the server" Clients can reach the server ok and the print server can print to all networked printers. Update: It appears admin side of the network can print still, and I tryed running via the curric server for emergency circumstances without any issues. It appears its just the connection between curric clients and the print server

I've printed a test page and the mark appears to be almost the same location as on 2 other print outs staff have done and told me about so I'd say its hardware rather then software. I'll look into swap under warrenty.

Our HP printer has been having a strange issue recently, every now and then it will miss out a letter or leave a slight mark where the letter should be, this will often happen once per page of writing so its not a very common problem. It will then print the letter about 6 lines down and fairly faint. Is this a case of ghosting and is anyone able to offer any advice? The printer is still just under warrenty so if its anything other then a minor issue it might as well go back.

Correct, we had a simular issue but the kid ended up "renembering" the password when there was talk of his parents getting a bill. Theres no other way around it beside sending it back I think.

Simular to me, I graduated last year with a BSc Hons Computer science and wanted to get into networking but didn't have any experience in it, my uni course didn't even cover networking at all My knowledge on networks was minimal from reading some N+ books and general knowledge of other areas learned but I had a years experience working in a small computer repair store and was determined to learn, I attended 6 different technician interviews and took an A+ within 5 months of leaving uni, every interview I went back for final interview stages and on 3 occasions was down to me and 1 other. My favorite of the lot was a school about 5miles away in Kingswinford, great staff friendly place and a pretty good school from what I had researched and seen on my visits and tours. I went to a couple of interviews there and ended up in the final interview with 1 remaining candidate out of 25 that had interviews. The other candidate had a couple years experience already but the IT staff had all told me they preferred me for the roll due to my education and enthusiasm. I wasn't successful as the governor was in favor of the more experienced person but It was good experience. I was successful in the end with my current employer whom I started with early this year, they took a chance with me I guess as I was taken on as a Junior role for an originally advertised experience technician role. Since joining ive gained huge experience in server management, network management, AD, GPOs etc.... having never used any server OS or environment, in fact in alot of work environments I don't think they would allow someone like me full admin permission to all that! I try to improve on what previous staff had implemented and people had come used to without causing any distruption to the schools staff and what they had become used to and so far I often get complements on how things have improved from staff I'm always looking into how to progress and gain experience too, having only been doing it for just about 6months now & looking at areas where my knowledge is lacking, i'm currently reading up for a CCENT & CCNA, best of luck mate and don't give up!

Little update, now 219lbs even after having a week on holiday and not watching what I eat or that much exercise over half term. Really notice the difference, even had pupils at school say have I lost weight and have I been doing weights lmao, was very strange to hear a pupil say that 0_o

Shocking! I didn't know that, I suppose the zetec is the most popular but to work around a single model rather then their whole range! Oh well I still prefer the ZS mine has cloth seats too and I was supprised when I went to view it as I thought they were completly standard having looked at loads for sale.

Thats a zetec-s in that photo, the zetec-s had air con and sporty seats as standard along with the sporty looking bumpers, spoiler, different spot lights to other models and partical leather trip which wernt avaliable for the normal zetec, later models often came fairly dark tinted on the rear windows too. They also had different suspension setups to the other models, they were the ST without an ST engine looking car, cosmetic pack basically, why the ZS didn't have colour coded side strips and mirrors as standard is very odd tho, having looked at the extras list they soon add up but there not over priced The Ghia is the highest spec as standard with some extras of lower models included. The sport and the zetec are different trim levels, i'd avoid the 1.6 tdci myself they are underpowered from my experience at only 90bhp. Look at larger focus diesels which will still get near the same economy but have 120bhp+. Best place to look for this info is parkers. Prob a zetec-s then, the zetecs are a little sporty and Zetec-s are lower, different alloys and bumpers. Also often have better trim levels and a few extras, mine has electric powerfold mirrors for when I lock the car, climate control, parking sensors, bluetooth ford headunit for hands free and auto lights and auto wipers Before the fiesta I had a 06 focus and an 03 focus both tdcis, the older model seemed far better to drive and more fun, it was the 115 zetec model tho and my newer mk2 focus was a 90 studio model + heavier

07 1.6 Fiesta tdci zetec-s , great little car only had it a couple of months and plan to get it remapped, average 60mpg+ and its nippy

We are looking at migrating from server 2003 to 2008 later in the year but before hand I would like to read up and study it in abit more depth, could anyone recommend any books for 2008 setup and administration? Earlier today we had a teacher who asked us to collect some pupils work which they hadn't submitted and were ill today so it could be sent off. When using my username which has full control permissions on all student folders I got down to the folder in question (one in the pupils documents for his ICT work) and couldn't access it, as if permission inheritance had been turned off by the pupil. So I logged in with the network administrator username and that was able to access the work but cannot change the permissions on this students created folder or add users to the list. I even tryed changing ownership to the administrator which worked but could still not add new groups/users or edit current permissions.

I'm going to try out joomla on a trial basis with their cloud site 30 day trials and basic video tutorials Joomla! Demo If its decent ill start or transfer depending how far I get on the cloud over to our current host. Wordpress also uses a fairly simple wysiwyg editor on pages, WordPress CMS Demo on Vimeo check out 1:16>. The backend looks abit clustered to for staff users in that video but permissions on useraccounts can easily be setup to only allow certain options/pages. I've just been told they don't want alot more content and functionality over the previous site which is basically a dozen static pages, home,about,news (never updated at the moment but wordpress is great for blog/news feed) Saying that ive just watched a youtube video on joomla's UI and it also looks pretty tidy compared to what I renember.

I have been asked if I'm able to create a new school website, the current one is rather horrible in color and stretched images created by a friend of a member of staff a few years back. Ludlow CE School Would people here recommend wordpress or joomla? I have a little experience with wordpress (just some tutorial stuff) and a very basic knowlage of PHP/SQL but nothing more then a beginners guide text book. The CMS needs to be simple as possible for its users as our admin staff will be adding images and information at times, from expereince wordpress seems to make this a fairly easy process but i'm yet to try Joomla. Any help or tips would also be appreciated thanks!
