With the purchase of Ipads in school we decided to set them up from my workstation, I installed itunes, connected the Ipad and the device needs to be setup for the first time, the problem is Itunes will not connect to the Itunes store, in a secound of clicking itunes store the message iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store make sure your network connection is active and try again. Well the connection is fine to the internet and I can use my iPhone using the same proxy to access the iTunes store with the built in app, I have ran a diagnostics but im still pretty stumped why I have this problem. all about bf2 when you beach an aircraft carrier Or you get in a helicopter then F2 to another seat as you dont want the guilt of knowing your crap flying killed your squad and all those on-board, wait for a squad member to spawn on you and take control then jump out before he crashs you into the nearest building with his equally poor flying skills

It doesn't look bad, much brighter then GTA:IV at least! The beach hut at the start and the "thats why I moved here" makes me think Tommy V in the current day? Rockstar like their easter eggs and hints. GTA:VC was by far the best out of all GTA's IMO best locations, characters, maps, design, music and humour. I started playing in on the PC again due to steams £4.99 for every GTA games bundled 1-4 and the episode content a couple of weeks ago! Lovefist anyone?

I purchased it for the ps3 because most my mates play it on that, shame as I prefer the PC version, might get that too when the price drops!

Active desktop icons - No background transparency
bondbill2k2 replied to bondbill2k2's topic in Windows
AH ok, how would I set an image as the users wallpaper for all staff then without using the GPO AD option? -
I'm having some problems with wallpaper settings with a new background image, I have tryed settings the desktop image using GPO active desktop enabled and a shared path, this does work but all desktop icons have the background colour showing through the image like the below image http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_egfTR4lj_Gg/SEPF-GrPqgI/AAAAAAAAAJg/CF8gnm8pYZE/s320/Blue_colour_desktop_icons.jpg I have tryed making a new mandatory profile and checked the 'use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop' option in performance settings is enabled. All appears fine locally on the account I build the profile on but once used as a mandatory profile the icons have the background problem. I have also tryed removing the active desktop in group policy and simple set the desktop as what I want from the shared path then saved this in the mandatory profile, once again I have the same problem with the icon backgrounds. Could it be a settings in group policy somewhere? I have looked and didn't find anything but I may of missed it!

So does anyone have before and after pictures?

Where to re-enable right-click on the desktop
bondbill2k2 replied to SimpleSi's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
Could it be restricted locally if none of the above work? -
I have recently set a wallpaper in GPO as the active desktop background and 90% of the time this works fine but we have started to have random occurrences of a white active desktop recovery background and students not being able to access their documents and other files until they log off. Once logged back in the problem is resolved. As pictured here: http://tech.hexseven.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/activedesktop.jpg -_- sorry for the thread typo!

Today I have opted for a dark blue polo neck , the first time I have not worn a shirt to work, I asked the NWM if that would be ok and she ha said yes, all contracters wear them, stone and other people who often come in wear them and our care taker wears them, the PE dept also wear tshirts and jogging bottoms even on days they are only doing class based lessons, I looked at my job description, my initiation docs, the school handbook, school policies and a few other documents and im yet to find anywhere which tells me a set uniform and I have never been told one either. During the summer I have seen teaching staff wear t-shirts and shorts and I also wore much more casual checkered shirts without anyone saying anything. I'm still wearing shoes and proper trousers its not like I look scruffy and i'll be spending most of the day today in the office, I'm also due to go around cleaning projectors so its not like a shirt is vital....I have however brought a shirt to work with me just in case I get some telling off by SLT or other senior members of staff Twice this week i've been cleaning out storage and removing a switch and ive been coated in dust and dirt, my £5 polo is better for this IMO then my £25 shirts which are in need of replacing anyway due to being almost 2 sizes too big now!

I had no server/network knowlage either earlier this year and keep taking on new tasks so I like to write things pretty basic We just use a redirection by group policy so teachers, students, admin etc all have different desktop shares, share permissions is set to everyone, security permissions are set using your AD groups so all admin staff are in a AD group called Admin, make sure they ret to Read only and the are denied all other permisisons beside list/display and read.

Was going to say starter motor or solenoid but that shouldnt be affected too much by heat, i'll ask a car mad mate later! Battery would be a big possability, they tend to become less efficant and 'leek' charge alot more in the cold, as newpersn said diesels are much more prone to this

Problems accessing NAS from Windows 7 clients
bondbill2k2 replied to bondbill2k2's topic in Windows 7
Great work m25man Shall be going to 2008 domain next Easter hopefully, Ill just use an IP for now as its only a few files me and the NWM use for quick setup of software, staff files are on a nice new 4TB readyNAS NVX -
I'm currently testing a windows 7 client on our 2003 domain network by using it as my own computer so I can find as many problems from my own experience as possible. One major issue im having is i'm unable to access a Buffalo NAS that we use to store alot of documents, I can use my logon from an XP client and access it no problem but on a windows 7 client i'm asked for a logon every time, I have no idea what this logon is as i've tryed multiple domain accounts, the buffalo doesnt have NTFS security on it anyway and is set to everyone read permissions. confused!

It's windows XP and I left the computer for about half an hour

Yes the image was taken off another of the same model, I get the same results in safe mode too

I'm having a strange problem, I have just re-imaged a machine and loaded it up for the first time, once out of POST the USB power just seems to stop, the mouse and keyboard both turn off too, I know the USB slots themself are fine as I can still use the mouse and keyboard on a pxe boot.

I dont see why its replacing the start menu, IMO this should be an optinal replacement for the desktop not the start menu and have stack style icons for the start menu and the ability to scale how large each icon it, this would still work well on a touch device and better on a desktop then the current previews. I wonder if they will ship win8 with Kinect support?

Might be worth checking the Server and office photos thread for ideas http://www.edugeek.net/forums/behind-red-door/242-server-rooms-office-bit-fun.html

Looking at our server event log today I noticed a timeout and failure of a service called MRMonitor and the message "The MRMonitor service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." Could anyone shed some light on what MRMonitor is or why I have this event? Thanks!

Starboards not recognised by computers
bondbill2k2 replied to bondbill2k2's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
I'll take a look but the red standby state style light is on and these boards draw their power over USB, they are not like some other Starboards which have the small PSU on the side mains power. -
Hello fellow edugeeks *hands over a eduhobknob and a brew* right... I'm having some very annoying problems with 2 of our starboards, we have around 20 Hitachi starboards, these are all working fine but we also have two other hitachi starboards which I believe are the FX Trio series boards with multitouch and a digitiser unit at the top. The boards themself have no other markings then "hitachi starboard" wrote on them. I have tryed using versions 6 throught to 10 of the starboard software and I know before these new computers they were using version 6 but regardless of which piece of software I still have the same error message that a starboard is not connected. The digitiser light at the top of the board is still red and doesn't change green, I have tryed multiple USB cables on both including the one previously used on the machine with no luck, they are under 5meters long and all drivers supplied on all the starboard software cd's has been tryed. Please help edugeeks! *Hands out a cape with EG wrote on it to who ever helps*
