Heard of a thing that is going around Apparently some people, who normally get the flu vaccine, are not going to have it this year because it is a different virus Oh - OK then - so we are now at the point where people are choosing what virus to catch and potentially die from - and spread to other people - in spite of having been happy to be vaccinated for it before with no problems just how can we still have taken over the planet with such a high density of dumb people

How about just take the number of colours (say 3) and send [number of colours] - 1 extra pairs pf the same colour as the original makes matching socks sooo much easier when you have >1 pairs the same (as long as they aren't socks that have a different left and right - which should be banned anyway)

why in the name of $deity do a bunch or teachers need a reminder when a lesson finishes????? I worked in a school once that had a major fire - main teaching block totally unusable school bell cables routed through the building the whole system failed and couldn;t be fixed (dunno why - how hard can it be) anyway - we managed without any bells for about 5 years - the general consensus was that it worked better - the kids were not hearing something saying the lesson was over so the teacher was in charge beats me why some school think teachers can't work out the time

I think I have spotted the problem normally I shop at Tesco - and normally afternoon or evening but today I was at a loose end on the high street waiting for the bike shop to ferret out a bold to fix my bike so I went to Asda (sorry - for any locals on here - The Asda) for some beetroot There is a college quite close and it was lunchtime it appears that a) male (mostly) college students are incapable of wearing a mask - either that or the college has a MASSIVE proportion of students that have invisible medical conditions that prevent mask wearing b) people who shop at Asda at lunchtime are also incapable of wearing a mask - due - presumably due to invisible medical conditions - which may or may not include stupidity and selfishness In general there were a lot of mask wearers - but no more than about 75% In Tesco there are normally 95-99% of people wearing masks when I go NOTE - I am not blaming ALL young people - but it does seem that a significant proportion of the people who ignore the advise/rules are young and also the sort of people who shop in Asda at lunch time based on a single 10 minute visit - so probably not likely to pass peer review if published as a scientific paper

What happens if your school is in a lockdown area but you live outside that area or the other way round?? are you locked down or is the school locked down??

WHich is why you should only ever buy socks in bunches of about 10 pairs. Then you have loads of other socks that match - then wash them when 2 or 3 pairs are left and file single socks until a match appears worst present I ever got was a set of socks with the days on them - first thing in the morning I could never find the correct socks for the day - half the time I wasn;t even sure what day it was at that point!! And it made putting stuff away a nightmare as I had to sort through the whole pile of socks to find a match!

That's OK - just put them in a sock drawer or washing machine and 1 will go missing in no time

Cases are rising round here not surprising as there are a load of factories here that are all back to work - and the workers all live in the area presumably it will rise again when the impact of the local school restarting hits I am preparing to act surprised

I was impressed with the support from the ATL - before the merger/takeover to become the NEU However, when I have needed to contact them it has been the local reps and their immediate support that has helped - I can imagine that some areas might have less dedicated local staff I would check out the local people and their experiences. If you are in a large school there might well be a rep in the school who has already got a relationship with the SMT - ask around about how effective they are Based on people I have known who have had a problem and found their union useless - this has often been Unison - so - personally I wouldn't go near them - but this is based on second hand info and a very small sample - again the dedication and effectiveness of the local reps may make the difference

There is a H&S problem there - if no-one can open the door and you collapse then you can't be seen to be rescued which is why doors should have glass in them however - that doesn't mean you have to answer it to people who totally ignore proper safety precautions when a proper alternative is available You NEED to have a proper buy-in from SMT saying that you will not accept ANY problem report of request for help that comes to your door - all reports and request MUST come via email/app as appropriate people arriving at the door can then be politely (maybe YMMV) be sent away and told to log it properly I would suggest a child gate to block people - appropriate really if they are acting like toddlers OH - and - check this with union - if the risk assessment does not include IT - then log this as a major risk - via email so it is recorded - and note this point

Just been watching the news They are going on about the people wanting a test appointment and they live in London and they get offered Inverness Now - OK - news people will take the worst option for effect BUT I cycle past the testing station near Liverpool Airport several times a week - at varying times from mid morning to late afternoon (not early morning because that would been getting up!) It is always pretty much empty At the start I once saw 3 lines of about 5 or 6 cars each since then max I see is a couple of cars - i.e. no queue at all so if anyone in London can only get an appointment in Inverness (or anywhere North is Widnes) then their booking system is carp I am pretty damn sure there is a generic 3rd party system where you type in the GPS address (or whatever) or each resource - identify the start and finish times and booking slot length and it will work out the an appointment for your client doesn't sound like rocket science in this day and age (OK - I have no idea of how a mapping and routing systems works - but that is known technology) something somewhere seems to be less than optimal
