Yeah - sound like the basic system is not to blame in this instance The system overall - which include the communication and transfers of files (Whut - why are we transferring files like this - is it still the 1970s???) - that is still to blame

Yup article in the Guardian ( I think) suggested that the problem was that the data was sent from the central gathering system on a CSV - which has no limits but was then imported into Excel - and the newest cases were on the end hence if there were more than about 1 million - or 65,000 on older versions - then the bottom of the csv was just truncated and no-one noticed

If they are using an old version of excel - and I would guess - making it 'secure' by password protecting it then I used to have a macro that could crack any excel password in a few seconds mind you it would be difficult to find it - I had to use a special tool - I think it was called Google (for those who are interested - I needed it to unlock a kids spreadsheets - he had password protected them all to stop his mates messing with them and - naturally - then forgot the password he used)

I had this many years ago - obviously on a much older version of AB However - running ipconfig/flushdns would often make it find them again it was actually not a problem with AB - but a problem caused by dodgy wifi connection between laptops and the server - hence they dropped their DHCP address and got a new one - but AB/the teacher computer - still had the old IP address try the flushdns command - if that fixes it (even if only for a while) then you have a network problem maybe

Good analogy!! many years ago I was working for a school My doctor swapped the tablets I was on - and after a while they started to 'upset my tummy' - use your imagination no details needed so once every few weeks I would be up several times at night and would feel 'insecure' in the morning At the time I was a full time teacher - with a form group - so first thing in the morning I was expected to be able to supervise and teach a class for nearly 3 hours in total (reg plus 2 lessons) with ZERO adult backup if I needed to leg it to the loo so I ended up taking a few mornings off over a few months and as a result ended up on several levels of written warnings from the LEA due to violating their attendance policy I was literally looking at dismissal while my doctor tried to sort out tablets that required several weeks of wind down I felt sorry for the Head who was required to read out the warnings from HR and then follow it with genuine sympathy and support from herself total madness sorted it out in the end - but the HR Policy just got in the way and increased stress - which made the problem worse

Went to Tesco today - getting close to the door I realised my mask as buried in my pocket - so I stopped 20 yards to the left of the door - away from normal routes as I was getting my mask out and sorting out the elastic and metal bit a bloke walked past me and said "You should be wearing a mask" WUT - I was still outside and I was putting it on - and making sure I was well over 2m away from other people Oh - and to do that he walked 1m away from me AND HE WAS NOT WEARING A MASK HIMSELF - OR MAKING ANY MOVES TO PUT ONE ON!!!!!!! I'll say it again When we came down from the trees someone should have checked who came with us - some seem to have slipped through the net in fact - maybe we should have checked before crawling out from the oceans

I have had an ebike (legal) for about 10 years. The rules changed in 2016 when we became the same as the rest of the EU - with a couple of small differences There are however some points that are not totally clear - especially regarding self build and converted bikes This site https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/pedelec-law-the-details.37594/#post-558483 is dedicated to UK Ebikes and the guy in charge (flecc) seems to know more about it that anyone else I have seen The above link discusses it in detail but basically throttles are not allowed except for a 'walk assist' up to walking speed to help you push it - although I have never found any use for this!! Interestingly my previous ebike was a pre-2016 version which complied with the rules from when it was built - hence it had a fully functioning throttle - but the max power allowed was 200W - rather than the current 250W

Even things like BBC News or Amazon can be relevant in a lesson with kids in the room I have had situation where a kid asks a question that brings up a good point - but relevant to the subject - and it makes sense to go onto BBC News to show what is in the news today or to check how much something really costs - sometimes just as part of teaching life skills - which all teachers are supposed to be doing when it crops up so saying - "ahhhhh - you went on this web site - you were a bad person" is not really enough obviously 'adult' sites etc would not apply here - and gambling would be difficult to justify - but a lot of normal personal sites could be used in a lesson and it would be a bit dumb to try to tell a teacher off for spending 10 minutes looking at Amazon - when they spent 4 hours doing marking at home after school hours last night So - I presume whoever wants this data is looking for something more clear that just BBC News

Just noting that some of these are not legal to use on the road in the UK (or EU for that matter) unless you get type approval - in which case it can be classed as a moped - but then you need a motorbike helmet, license, insurance and number plate basic rules are max power 250W pedal assist only - no throttle motor must cut out when the bike reaches 15.5 mph (I think that is 25 kph)

Saying that internet usage is monitored - and then using this to find evidence that an accusation/suspicion of a specific member of staff has been doing 'something' is one thing This sounds more like a fishing expedition - which is a whole different thing however, there is a possibility that they could want all the data - but actually be following up on something specific but not want anyone in the school to know who has been suspected hence get all the data then filter it themselves I would ask a union about this - specify that it sounds like a fishing expedition - and ask for their comment in the meantime you have been asked to do it - so until/unless you have a specific reason why you should not - then you should continue on working on it

As I said before - won't run on my phone - Android 5.1.1.1 only finished paying for the phone recently Date on phone says Jan 2018 - which is about right so - 2 1/2 year old Samsung phone - toooo old OK - main problem is dumb Samsung phones that are so damn limited that you can't move forward with Android versions but that is reality - no real point in designing a system based on what you want people to do - it needs to be based on what reality is

If you are being told that all x of you work from the same office then whoever is in charge (Network Manager) needs to make sure there is a recorded communication (email probably) sent to the HT warning that this means that if ONE of you gets Covid then all of you will have to isolate - even if it is just a couple of symptoms and remember that flu/cold season is coming - so one cough and IT support ceases until the cougher can get the test results As far as I can see that is not you being awkward - it is a legal requirement on all of you as individuals - and a legal requirement on the school to enforce it
