  1. Top pedantry!
  2. I don't think they have any choice about electric scooters - there are too many of the things around and if you increase bike lanes then people will start using scooters in them It is just a case of how the legalise them and what restriction they impose and the longer they leave it the more will be sold that are not road legal so they should get a damn move on!!!
  3. Problem is that I've seen most of them several times now can't believe the patience they have sometimes and the determination to keep digging laugh out loud when some lying toe rag gets their comeuppance BTW - the company (DCBL) is based near here - they have taken over sponsorship of the rugby stadium just up the road
  4. Not very romantic or anything but I have a lendwithcare account where I lobbed some money in (remember when our syndicate at work won the lottery??) and it gets loaned to people in developing countries who need money to start or expand a small business they pay it back and it goes back into your account with them every so often you get an email saying who has paid the loan back and how much then you can log in and send the money to other people just an idea - it makes me feel involved and at least I know my money is going somewhere useful and not to a big admin office or you could buy him a goat for a remote village - that used to be a thing - I remember a school I was at putting all the money we normally spent on Christmas cards into a fund for one or a guide dog where you get progress reports (and a cuddly guide dog toy)
  5. That's not a very nice way to refer to you!! and why did they want the radiator rotated sorry anyway - thanks for making me feel less thick!!!!!
  6. Maybe an ebike makes it a gadget and not a fitness machine?? and he can use his 3D printer to make things for it (I have a few designed and ready to go - but don't have a printer - don't ask why I made the design!) but then again - probably not - and they are expensive!
  7. Not very high brow but I often watch the 'Can't pay - we'll take it away" and similar stuff Big episode coming up
  8. I was going to suggest buying him a bike or - better still - an ebike but that is kinda expensive and tends to lead to more expense due to 'essential upgrades' but think of the advantages healthy exercise in the fresh air pollution free and cheap transport to shops etc great source of potential presents for future years so - invest now and solve future problems (of course it does mean he will disappear off in unknown directions for an unknown amount of time several times a week - is that a good or bad thing??????)
  9. In case anyone else on here is as thick as me I just looked it up and TRV means Thermostatic Radiator Valve not heard their proper name before
  10. Anyone any idea of the security on these things?? can they be set up so they can't access the internet - just have local network access so no-one can see them from outside?
  11. Could be worse have you heard about 5G and Covid p.s. do NOT mention this to 'that parent'
  12. My sympathies dealing with self educated nutjobs is difficult just to add a story (yes - again!!) saw a similar problem from an IT tech a while ago kid was OK but parent was 'very sensitive' to wifi and the fact that the school had wifi was discriminating against said parent due to her disability because she was not able to go to the Christmas Play to view darling child due to the discriminatory actions of the school in having wifi lawyers were threatened - if no action was taken Head was trying to be helpful - IT Tech was brought into the 'meeting' IT Tech agreed to allow the parent come to the school - approaching slowly across the quad while the IT tech showed her the signal as they approached as the SSID became visible on the IT Techs phone - amazingly the parent could also feel it 'naturally' so she retreated while the IT Tech went inside and unplugged the access point the parent the approached again with the IT tech showing the same app - and, of course, the SSID did not appear parent - amazingly - was fine so -all sorted - for the play the parent would arrive early , IT Tech would switch off the access point and show her it was clear as she approached all was well parent was happily seated and everyone else filed in and took their seats IT Tech happily hung around nearby and monitored the hall as dozens of signals appeared from a variety of parents phones parent was very grateful to the very helpful IT Tech and Head as she had had no problems I MAY have added to the story a bit but the basis was what I read which may or may not have been true but who cares
  13. Our Tesco fresh meat/fish places closed ages ago - I think it was the same across a lot of stores - if not all
  14. Maybe this is why they want to do a mass test in Liverpool we have the right experience
  15. Went out on bike ride today as usual - what was unusual was that I remembered my camera! going pat a big field I saw loads of gulls - in most of the field they were just sitting there (OK standing - in case any pedants come along) but near me and over to the right they were more agitated and flying around/landing/taking off etc etc I noticed a darker bird - so I stopped - I was a hawk like bird just standing in the field about 50 yards away from the hedge natually - by the time I had stopped and got my camera out it has flown off into the middle of the field. closer looks revealed another one further away - but after a while the second one flew over and they ended up closer together These photos were taken on my superzoom - at max zoom and hand held as there was no convenient fence or gate to steady it hence rather grainy etc
  16. I've checked with my MP and apparently I will be able to play the piano during lockdown which is great cos I couldn't before sorry thought people needed cheering up
  17. They are on their way round to arrest me as well don't worry though - the officers sent to get me seem to be walking from southern Greece 'cos they started months ago anyway - I'll see you in the cells - with no Edit or Edubytes we could so with a catch up
  18. Hate it when they do that - leaves you with a bad feline
  19. Oh - yes my last school has some of Stone I think Moses signed of the spec - but the damn things would not fail just lob some more memory and sort the disk out and something with a floppy disk and a parallel printer port just kept on working $deity knows where it got its performance from - OK - not fast but OK
  20. Its amazing how many people with a very strong Indian accent and limited understanding of the quirks of the English language seem to have traditional English names whereas people of Indian heritage that I have met/known often have Indian type names but speak English like a native - because they are - even if some have an accent but these people on the phone .........
  21. There are sponsors on here that wil help ICT Direct - Dave is very helpful if you want refurbished (looks at socks) Very PC seem helpful as well I'm sure some will be along
  22. I can't see any way of doing it I have looked for the Virgin app but I think my version of Android is too old
  23. Is that English?? foul grammar but it was very egg-citing anyway - by way of avoiding cold ponds etc it has been announced that Liverpool is going to be the first in an attempt at mass testing everyone who lives in - or works in - Liverpool will be offered a test what is confusing is what they mean by Liverpool do they mean Liverpool - the city area or Merseyside - as people get confused and say Liverpool but it turns out to the the county of Merseyside or the Liverpool City Regions - which also include Halton - which is us - but is a separate county - but we are also part of Cheshire - which is another county It gets confusing round here anyway - looks like it is just the actual city - but I had to look at every newspaper site I could find several time during yesterday before I found out even they I am basing this on Joe Anderson (Mayor of Liverpool - the city) not Steve Rotherham (Mayor of Liverpool City Region) that is making announcements Ye Gods
  24. On top of all this - there has been an outbreak of Bird Flu down south somewhere and - apparently - a chicken farm (not free range from the sound of it - so could be contained) has been found to have a big outbreak - and it is not far from here They are trying to determine if the 2 are connected but it looks like a different strain no signs of crossing over to humans so far the farm involved is on the other side of the Mersey (Frodsham) so Mrs mikeprice has asked me to stay on this side for a while - which gets rid of my favourite route - including the interesting new version which includes a steep hill - up and down (reached over 30mph on the downhill the other day before I chickened out and braked!!!!)
