Top Gun style callsigns for IT techs, like the fighter pilots we are
mikeprice replied to jthompson's topic in General Chat
One network manager I worked for for a while called me a Weird Hybrid - he had never previously come across a person who could be a teacher and still understand IT or so he said - he exaggerated at times -

Magician Sorcerer Wizzard or clearly witch???? -
There is an application for on the school website but no entry about vacancies Also - you seem to have the option of filling in an on-line application or downloading one in either Word or pdf Not sure what they prefer Personally I would ring the school and ask - but remember that if you do then regard the phone call as the first part of a possible interview Good luck anyone who wants it!!!

I agree - but before we get into frog worthy territory It is also rather dodgy that devices are sold to school - or anyone for that matter - that are so locked down that they can't be used if you go outside the support contract IMO a computery type device should be able to be reformatted by the owner (or something similar) and go back to a generic useable state with no enforced settings like unlocking a phone from the network

Funny - my thoughts were more towards trying to attract the cannibal sector of the market -
After a long gap with almost no dodgy call I have had 4 over the last few days all - apparently - from "The Energy Saving Trust" 1 to the landline and 2 on the mobile I haven;t had time or inclination to keep them on the phone for any time but I did explain to one woman how annoying it is to get these dumb calls she tried to explain that she isn;t selling anything and was trying to help but it does seem strange that I suddenly get a flurry of them - must have got on a list I suppose although we have just come back from touring the North of Scotland - including the Orkneys - and we do know there are some strange people on those Northerly islands so I wonder if the hotel wifi did something weird

Collating Photos of Events? Who takes them with what?
mikeprice replied to bjohnny42's topic in How do you do....it?
When I was in a Primary school the main problem we had was that all photos had to be signed off by the class teacher Because they had to check that every kid in the photo had agreement from their parents or guardians for their photo to be used This mean that IT could not do much until they photos had been signed off OK - as I taught some of them I could check the Year 5 and 6 kids myself - but the rest of the school had to be approved The school was especially sensitive as we had 2 kids that ABSOLUTELY must not appear in the local paper or on the web site - or even posted up in the school anywhere The first few years that I was there this worked OK as most parents approved the use of the photos - but then a weird rumour started that $somethingmighthappen and a lot of parents didn't tick the relevant box that year I also discovered that the wording of the question was dodgy and needed re-doing - and in any case it only applied for one year and the box had been moved to be less clear so that basically messed up the Head's policy of getting the school in the papers a couple of times a month -

That's great!! it is really small though I could even say it is "my newt" except that is is yours - clearly -
I suppose it would be pretty easy to save someone £5,000 over the expected 'rest of life' if the person is currently in their 30s or 40s of course they make it sound like it is per month or year but..... they probably hung up because you know roughly how much you pay - their ideal target is someone who can be convinced that they will save this but don't actually how much they pay and hence can;t check you probably sound too intelligent - although it is rather low bar so don't thank me
