  1. I was looking for a pile of new iPads ordered by Head??? - - - Updated - - - errr - think I'll go for the prewrapped ones!
  2. If someone catches it and gets long Covid and can;t work for an extended time can they claim industrial injury due to this directive in the face of a known infectious disease with potential long term effects???
  3. A couple of years ago - pre COVID -I asked about the flu jab at the Pharmacy They asked about steroids and I mentioned Fostair - they immediately agreed to do the jab so it does count for flu COVID seems less clear on where the boundaries are - anyone tried asking at a GP surgery for the qualifications I would still recommend asking at the Pharmacy and see if they will do it - best to try the one where you get your meds - I suppose!
  4. I had a text message a couple of days ago saying I could get a Covid Booster Mrs mikeprice didn' anyway - I tried the website it said to go on and managed to get her booked in Tried to do tje same for me and it said I was not eligible - which was weird! The only difference that I could see was a question about whether or not - then several conditions finishing off with being on the shield list She was - although it was a while ago - so I said "yes" to her - and "No" for me as I hadn;t so I assume that was the difference Anyway - there was also a number to ring so I tried that and they were quite happy to give me an appointment at a local pharmacy that seemed to be doing loads of flu and Covid jabs so - if you get a message then it might be worth ring them up and seeing what happens if not - just try looking for a pharmacy with a sign saying they are doing Covid jabs and go in and ask
  5. Just had one of the automated phone calls It claims I have won a competition I can either have £100 - or 2 tickets to an Elvis Tribute act I have to Press - One for the money or 2 for the Show!!
  6. Yup - saw that when it was on "live" - really enjoyed it
  7. Well yes - but could they?????
  8. Not sure whether it is a worse logon because it points down or looks err err rather rude????
  9. No - didn;t say Basically I want to concentrate on what we NEED and then I can look for something that will work for the lowest price no point in getting something with 4Gb memory because it is cheap if Windows 11 with Office 2019 needs 16 Gb or whatever I have also asked you lot because you deal with laptops that teachers use and "some people" have similar habits in terms of things like gentleness with the screen closing and resitance to change BTW - I didn;t say that - it was caused by a random keyboard glitch - like semi-colons
  10. Thanks - should have said - must be Windows - she doesn;t like change!! Apple is out as well for same reasons - as well as others!
  11. Hi all Mrs mikeprice has a 5 year old Lenovo which has been giving some problems recently firstly the USB seems to keep "going wrong" - I suspect the voltage keeps dropping so the mouse gets jittery done all the drivers and all that - doesn;t help Now she has a wireless mouse - but she can;t charge it from the USB (hence suspicion that the power is dodgy) Also - she has "somehow" managed to crack the case around where the lid hinges plastic totally cracked so can;t be fixed CLEARLY she has never picked it up by the lid or anything - just one of those things!!! Anyway - I think she needs a replacement but I'm a bit out of date with current specs clearly SSD and reasonable memory but nothing massive needed mostly only used to basic web browsing - news sites and the like and simple games - nothing with any graphics to speak of or role playing - basically things like Majong and the like also some spreadsheet and possibly Access - but nothing big - we have a license for Office so that is all sorted! any ideas?? refurbished would be OK if the battery is good! thanks
  12. You know that Sycamore that has been chopped down along Hadrien's wall Well - now they have arrested 1 16 year old bloke and now a 60 year old man as well I reckon there will be a 3rd arrest announced soon 'cos it sounds to me like the work of tree fellers
  13. Recently I have been reading some WW2 historical account Basically books about bits and pieces of the war that everyone has heard about but only as something that happened on the side with no details Such as the activities of the Coastal Command and they MTBs and MGBs in the Channel and North Sea - and what "also happened" in the Channel around D-Day I mean - clearly SOMEONE did something to stop the German forces attacking the supply routes to the invasion beaches - it is just that the films and documentaries all concentrate on the "Big Stuff" Also - Coastal Command - I mean, I had heard that the U-Boats had big problems near the UK coast but why and how and by whom was not detailed Well I have found several books hanging around on Kindle written by people who were there and seem to have written it all down because someone needs to write it down Not proper authors - just people with ability to write and do research and get it all in a sort of order And people who concentrate on what happened to who by who and making sure to name the people who contributed or whatever rank - and whichever side and because they are not "proper authors" and looking for money making opportunities they do not need to all narrative devices or tell a story - Facts and People are the focus It is very interesting - and reveals side of the conflict that are not normally highlighted It is also rather depressing in some ways for example - Coastel Command in the Med survival rate for crew of long range fighter - Mostly Beaufighters - over 2 tours 3% !!!! that's all some type were better - but none over 50% - even for only one Tour The worst was the U-boat hunting aircraft Phrases like - U-XXX was sunk - no survivors or worse still - sunk and men seen in the water - not survived (note - if there was a ship in the area they would attempt a rescus of German crew - but clearly the U-Boatrs avoided populated areas on their way to and from their patrol - so...... It all really brings home the sacrifices made my these people!! anyway - some of the titles The Battle of the Narrow Seas: The History of Light Coastal Forces in the Channel and North Sea, 1939–1945 - Peter Scott The Strike Wings: Special Anti-Shipping Squadrons 1942-45 Roy Conyers Nesbit Deep Sea Hunters: RAF Coastal Command and the War Against the U-Boats and the German Navy 1939–1945 Martin W. Bowman The Armed Rovers: Beauforts and Beaufighters Over the Mediterranean Roy Conyers Nesbit
  14. Yes - at one point I had no debts and hadn;t had for some time I tried to get a store credit card from one of the big shops - they were offereign a 10% to anyone who applied for one at the same time as buying soemthing I was turned down for some reason but still got the 10% off I managed to wangle that 10% off 3 times before they stopped the promotion!
  15. It's a funny thing how people with very little record of debt and a good record of paying off what they have tend to have s lot of trouble getting a loan of any kind weird
  16. I saw something that said the current version was possibly more infectious but less severe Oh - and we were offered a free flu jab - but they only have enough for one clinic and we will be away then Pharmacies don;t have confirmed delivery dates yet but expect it in late September - which normally becomes October
  17. Probably - I do keep looking at it wondering if it just changed the fan setting because it is on auto and the environment changed or if some spotty oik in a basement is playing
  18. Hi all Right - fixed the app problem I spent quite a while ploughing through the Sky Router looking at how to disable the 5GHz part - and through everything on the WWW about it and found nothing This morning I decided to just try it one step at a time and unclicked the "synchronise 2.4 and 5 GHz settings then changed the SSID for the 5Ghz part so it was on a different SSID Then applied the settings Once it was settled I restarted the connection settings on the device and tried the connection again It worked on the second go so now it all works - not as useful as I hoped but that is apps for you - but it does allow remote control and shows some information that can;t all be displayed at the same time on the device so OK anyway - for anyone with a Sky Router who is having trouble connecting a 'smart' device that is worth a go
  19. Thanks all I have read somewhere that some 'smart' devices require you to disable the 5GHz band before trtying to connect (as suggested above) so I will try that first however, it is not as easy as expected - I sort fo thought that I would just have to go onto the router and untick a box or change a entry in a drop down list but no Seems like I have to disable synchronising between 2.4 and 5 and then I can change the SSID for the 5GZ After that I am hoping that I can disable the 5GHz without the 2.4 being affected - at the moment I can either do both (i.e. everything) or neither help system on Sky is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard for anything less usual or more complicated than plugging it into the mains! will try it tomorrow - can;t risk Mrs mikeprice loosing access to her puzzle games!!! I will post back if I have more problems - or if I solve it so it is recorded - in which case I will also post it on any other relevant forums I can find
  20. Don't give them ideas!!!
  21. Mrs mikeprice has bought a phillips air filter - which is apparently 'smart' Seems to work fine in default and basic setting so that is all we need but you are supposed to be able to connect to it via an app but I can;t get it to work so I though some of you may be able to give me a pointer and clear up some possible points of problems OK - so to connect you download and install the app and start it up then it asks if you want to add a new device - answer yes obviously then you press 2 buttons on the filter for 3 seconds and it beeps and the wi-fi lights starts flashing all seems to work except that it does not connect - times out saying no device found now - the app says it finds SSiD XXXXXX - which is fine BUT there is also an SSID of YYYYYY which is broadcast by the solar panel equipment and is always on the same channel as the main home SSID (Yes - I know!!!) and the air filter can only use 2.4 GHz but my phone was on that anyway Now - my phone is connected to the network - as usual but the air filter is no and cannot be as there is no keyboard/pad to type anything in or display - so I have not idea what it thinks it can see so a question - how does the air filter connect to the app on the phone when it is not on the network???? and how does it know which SSID to use - if there is more than one in range?? is there a way a device can connect to an app if it is not on the network?? Clearly one step is to power down the whole solar system to take the YYYYYY SSID out of the game but any other ideas before I try that?? Thanks
