Can confirm. After testing it appears that 1909 doesn’t let you alter the text after booting into full OS.

[ms office - o365] office 365 or office 2016

Translation: "Another turn on the Merry-Go-Round sir?" -
Thanks, tried both but neither worked. Guess I'm doing something wrong but can't see what...

Oh hang on. I've seen some people talking about credprovhost.dll.mui and others talking about credprovs.dll.mui Which is it? :-S
-
Hmm can't seem to get this work. Using 1909 and the permission seem to be right and the file is located in %SystemRoot%\System32\en-GB\credprovhost.dll.mui Using ResEdit I can see that the string has been changed to the school name, yet the login page still says 'Other user'...

Not really. The core issue remains, the old DBA using opptransistion.exe* is not supported (never was in UK) and the new DBL is only for EES education customers (which most schools won't be). *Still works at the moment btw. -

If you are using the free version then make sure you take a look at the Powershell module as it extends the functionality a lot.

Oh that’s sad. I spent many a happy day with my dad following the JPS Norton team around the Superbike circuit. Steve Spray, Trevor Nation, Ron Haslem, Robert Dunlop and all those guys. Sad to see an iconic brand go. And they seemed to be doing quite well?

How are you shutting down / waking up your W10 machines these days?
sparkeh replied to CharlesGreig's topic in Windows 10
This explains the situation with Win 10 and WOL: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2776718/wake-on-lan-wol-behavior-in-windows-8-windows-8-1-and-windows-10 -
Take a look at your TS deployment and there is the option to set the 'purpose' to 'available' (sorry I said optional) - this means that it will appear in the list for selection but won't be enforced The password option is tucked away in "Administration -> Site Configuration -> Server and Sire Systems Roles" Right click "Distribution Point" and then "PXE" tab and check the "Require a password when computers use PXE"
-
You can do exactly the same as you were doing with WDS and pxe boot to choose an image to deploy. I have my images advertised to all machines but have them as optional. Also there is password required when you pxe boot. Therefore I just turn on machine, pxe boot, enter password, select image to deploy.

Yes using something like Azure is much cheaper. I tested using Cloudberry backup to upload the Veeam backups to Azure and that seemed to work well.

We’ve been holding off as up to now as the price has always been too high but that price seems a lot lower than we’ve found so far.

Only have experience of Casio and they have been great. IIRC the early models had issues with dead pixels and degradation of image but later models have been rock solid and much loved here. Only need 1 of about 30 repairing under warranty in the last 7 years and support were pretty good about shipping a loan projector whilst the repair took place.

365 licensing is a hot mess at the moment. I know that DBA is not longer supported (well is was never supported in the UK) but it does work so... maybe an option? -

@kennysarmy do you happen, by chance to have the A1 Plus licences in your 365 tenant? If so you might still be able to use the old way of doing DBA (still works for us here). -
Correct way to remove old ADMX templates from \Policies\PolicyDefinitions
sparkeh replied to kennysarmy's topic in Windows 10
Maybe this is just a personal preference but I don't ever delete stuff straight out the central store. I like to rename the store, create a new one and copy over the templates you want to keep. Then if anything goes awry you can quickly revert to the old, working store. -
Yeah got it as well *rolls eyes*

Very different. I don't understand why you would take something like this with a very established and much loved world and muck about with it. -
