When visiting my brother on his farm back in NZ a few months ago, he had a novel way of heating his swimming pool... about 200m of black alkathene piping running back and forth across his roof, with a small pump from an old washing machine, and both ends of the pipe going into the pool. The water was coming out of the pipe 3 degrees warmer than it went in. Free solar heating (apart from the small electrical cost of running the pump, and the piping which he had spare anyway) We've also just had 86 solar panels installed at School: Fronius SolarWeb

I've got a strange problem with Shockwave 11 (both 11.0.x and 11.5.x)... The MSI seems to install fine via GPO but when you visit the Shockwave Test Page as a user the Shockwave window is completely black. It works fine if I log in as an admin user tho. I've had to revert to 10.1 Has anyone else had a similar problem, or had a version of 11 that's working OK?

Maybe it's a new type of battery (a bit like you see done with potatoes?) to replace the need for a UPS?

I've got a teacher wanting to use C4's Catchup Player to play this: Catch Up It played the adverts and then stopped. After a little digging around I found this link which has fixed the problem on his PC: Security component upgrade However, this is a manual process. Does anyone have an automated solution? e.g MSI I can deploy via Group Policy or suchlike??

At present we have many rooms with 4-digit electronic keypads. This causes multiple headaches. Namely: Each lock can only have 1 code, and if the code needs to be changed it has to be done manually at each door. Many Staff make little-or-no effort to key in the PIN code with any form of discression, and the students soon learn the code. Once the students know the code it spreads like wildfire and then the rooms then become unsecure. I've even witnessed Staff shouting out the code to a student by the door to open it for them. Staff also constantly forget the codes so we keep getting asked what they are. I'm looking for a proximity based (not PIN keypads, unless this is also used in conjunction with proximity cards/fobs) system which can be setup for lots of doors (i'd like to increase our number of controlled doors from 6 to about 12), with lots of users (approx 150), all controlled from a central location (preferably via PC based software). Having the flexibility to allow certain staff access only to certain doors would be a bonus. As would being able to control these for certain days/times aswell.. If a card/fob is lost it can easily be deactivated to stop the "finder" using it anywhere. Will the Paxton or ACT systems discussed in previous posts do this? If so at what sort of cost (ballpark) would we be talking? I looked at the SALTO website, but it looks expensive... Obviously cost is a big thing. Cheap RFID door locks off eBay fill this criteria but I don't think they'll offer any of the other essential criteria listed above. Or is there somethere else out there that anyone knows could do what I need? Thanks in advance Jim
