  1. Try putting the quotes around the whole path, not just the Program Files bit. e.g "c:\program files\luk\lukinfo" And put a space before the /e
  2. +1 PlanetRock listener here... (the louder the better!)
  3. +1 recommendation for Robocopy here...
  4. We use App Data inside our roaming profiles. I think the problem was something to do with UNC paths? But 9.0 and 9.1 wouldn't work for us. And I'm hoping someone has tried 9.2 and can let us know if it suffers from the same problem or if they've fixed it...
  5. Does anyone know if this suffers from the same (known) bug where it doesn't like roaming profiles? EDIT: In the 9.1 Release notes it says "Roaming Profiles on Windows and Networked Home Directory on Macintosh are not supported configurations for 9.0 or 9.1, however we have made several fixes in 9.1. We are looking at the possibility of supporting this for the next major release." I can't find any mention in the 9.2 Release Notes...
  6. Our ICT Coordinator would like to get programming back on the curriculum. Do any of your schools currently teach programming? If so, what language(s) are you using please? Pascal? Delphi? And could anyone recommend any free (or dirt cheap) programming software? (bonus points for those available in MSI format)
  7. We had an external trainer come in last week to show some teachers SAM Learning, and he asked me to install Google Chrome on the PC he was going to use because "it's so slow in Internet Explorer now". He then said I needed to install it on all the School PCs just so the kids could run SAM Learning at a decent speed. I told him no chance, as we only use IE.
  8. We used to have NetOp but had loads of problems with it (for several versions) We ditched it in favour of iTalc. (Client installed with NO fuss as an MSI)
  9. Solved, thanks AT! There was a "QUICKTIME7REQUIRED" entry in the CustomAction table, set to "1". Changed it to "0" and viola! I wish Serif was consistent. Some variables use yes/no. Some use 1/0. Why even have it in the Setup Properties if this is going to be ignored?
  10. I'm having real grief getting the MSI to NOT install Quicktime. There is a "QUICKTIME7REQUIRED" setup property. The default value is "0". It doesn't matter if I change this to "1"... it still tries to install. If I look at the "QuickTimeDlg" dialog box, it has a variable named "QUICKTIME7REQ" (note the different name to the one in setup properties! Serif typo?!) for the tickbox. If I manually add this to the setup properties and set it to either "0" or "1" it also makes no difference. Any ideas please? EDIT: The property to stop it installing Flash is "FP8GOFLIGHT" and this has the default value "yes". Changing it to "no" stops the installer trying to install Flash. I'll try using "no" instead of a number for QT...
  11. Try changing the "MINAPPDATA" setup property from "0" to "1". (I use an MST to do this...)
  12. I've got the same problem with Shockwave
  13. Are you able to say what they'll go up to? How many days hols are we talking here? 25? Or a dozen-ish weeks like the teachers?
  14. Yeah. 400+ PCs and "a" server (Read: I saw that. I was just expanding on Simcfc73's comment about the poor job description(s))
  15. This link may be of some use? Network Installation and Customization - Scratch Wiki
  16. I wonder how big the network is? They're looking for someone with experience of "a" server...
  17. That looks suspiciously like the outside of Liverpool St station... EDIT: ...and lots more of London. I should have watched more before I replied.
  18. I'd be interested in Polo shirts, if they're black or navy blue, and Super-Jumbo-Deluxe size* I currently wear Polo's with the School crest and "IT Support" embriodered on them, and jeans. *3XL
  19. Probably well out of date, but I've just had this problem too so I'll post in case it helps anyone else. If your HMC is v1.0 (which is what came on my installation CD) ring Heinemann Digital Support (0845 313 8888) and ask them to send you v1.4. This fixed our problem.
  20. Yet another post I wish I'd seen before I deployed this software. Thanks for the fix Out of curiosity what version of the client are you running? Ours is "Client7.0.131.56_En_EUIT.msi". The Property table already had "RebootYesNo=Yes" but there was definitely no reboot after install. I added "REBOOT=FORCE" to my .MST file (which I had created to add the registry key for the server) and the PCs now reboot after installation and this seems to have fixed the unable-to-logoff problem...
  21. Wireless electricity demo: Eric Giler on TED.com
  22. snap. Refer to my post in (currently at the end of) this thread...
  23. We use compatibles in all our printers. Whilst on the subject of the Epson C1100, I find them a large pain in the rear end. Constantly having problems with them. You name it, it goes wrong with them. I'd go so far as to say I have the same loathing for them that AngryTechnician has for all things HP...
  24. I've got ISA 2006 and need to find a solution to stop the kids disabling safesearch. Ideally I'd like to enforce strict (or very strict) searches only. I can't find a way of appending &safe=vss to the URLs in ISA. Is yours written for (or compatible with) ISA 2006? If so, would you be able to share it with us? Pretty please? With cherries on top???
  25. I've been convinced from the start that the problem isn't at our end. I guess the other school uses easymail. Their IT bod says he's going to add our mail server's FQDN into an "allow"-type list (so I guess he's been talking to someone at easymail) in their mail system and to try again tomorrow...
