  1. We are running Papercut NG currently, but with the new printers we will be upgrading to Papercut MF (unless we end up with cannon then it will be uniflow) Both these systems can run reports for pretty much anything required! so that isn't to much of a problem. It is basically down now to - do we pay a little more for a manufacturer, who should have the resource to support us if something went wrong, or a smaller company that is a little cheaper, but may not have the resources or the support of the big boys. edit - (didn't read the last part of the post!) One of them has suggested Konica and the othera Sharp / Samsung mix, sharp for the MFP's and samsung for the smaller desktops.
  2. Afternoon we are looking at getting in a managed print service, IBS and PBS have come in cheapest, with Cannon and Konica being a little more pricey, I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with either IBS or PBS and could let me know about either company, good or bad. Our business manager is thinking of paying the extra and going with the big boys, but we could get a pretty decent saving if either of them are any good. thanks
  3. A little premature it would seem, fixed one room, but the same thing hasn't worked on the other two, back to the hunting for an answer..
  4. Well, I think I've got to the bottom of it, something to do with google sketchup, take it off the machine.. and they start working fine again.. don't really know why, but for the time being they are going to have to make do with out it till I can find out what it is doing!
  5. So any ideas, because I'm really struggling now to find an answer to it, and it seems to be affecting more and more of our students, help would be really really appreciated!
  6. There are a few temp files in the users areas that have the trouble, but first thing I do is clear them out, doesn't fix it, and yup, all home areas are redirected.
  7. Nope, no files with that extension. I don't think its the number of files now, which was kinda one of the things I was suspecting, because I'd tried everything else I could think of!
  8. We use mandatory profiles, there is also a script that runs every time to clear off any profile bits that are left on the pc as well on shutdown, so yup, tried that too
  9. Nothing in event log, when it first started there was something coming up about webfldrxp.exe, so I had a hunt round, it is for publishing folders on the web, which I didn't want the kids doing anyway, so got rid of that, but that didn't solve it. and We've got AB tutor, and securus on the machines.
  10. I'm getting this really weird problem with a few students, in two of our computer rooms straight after logging in, they go to my documents and explorer seems to crash, all they can do is ctrl alt del and log out, nothing else. I've tried seeing if there was a corrupt file by going through and putting documents back in one at a time into a users area, seeing which one caused it to happen, but it would seem rather then one corrupt file, its once too many are put in the folder. As far as I know there is no limit for how many files can go in a folder, defiantly not the 30 - 40 that at the very highest level some of these kids have in them. So I'm getting pretty stumped by this, why would it lock up explorer? has anyone else had anything similar.
  11. Not to sound a dull end, I had seen that, just didn't really know what to make of it, what does susanne mean by "You now need to remove the R2 piece. As it hooks into WSUS." I'd need to reinstall R2?
  12. Hi Guys I decided to move wsus a while ago onto another server, and since then we've been getting our application log spammed with errors: Event Type: Error Event Source: Windows Server Update Services Event Category: Update Services Service Event ID: 421 Date: 16/03/2010 Time: 08:48:01 User: N/A Computer: GCS-SRV-003 Description: Connection to database failed. Reason=SQL Server does not exist or access denied.. Connection string: Net=dbnmpntw;Data Source=\\.\pipe\MSSQL$MICROSOFT##SSEE\sql\query;;Initial Catalog=SUSDB;Connection Timeout=60;Application Name=WSUS SQL Connection;Trusted_Connection=Yes;Pooling='true'; Max Pool Size = 100 For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Now I've removed wsus from this server, even tried removing the old sql database to shut it up, I've been trawling the web on and off for a while trying to find an answer to it when we get some quite time, but alas, I can't find anything that has solved it yet. So short of reinstalling the server, which as far as I can see now is the only way to get rid of this, how can I clear this error? its running on server 2003 r2.
