A marksheet is normally created by attaching a student group to a template (e.g. classes, reg groups, year groups). Any supervisors for that group will then see that marksheet in their list. You may have to create a user defined group and then have the relevant senior science teachers as supervisors. When creating the marksheet simply select the user defined group you have made as the group you are attaching to the marksheet. You may be tempted to use the year 11 group in the pastoral structure in the marksheet. The problem with that is that adding the science teachers as supervisors of year 11 will give them access to all year 11 marksheets. That may or may not be ideal.

Hi James, I don't think the access point has a firewall. The funny thing is, I can RDP to other computers while connected to the same access point, just not the Windows 7 PC in question. I don't remember doing anything in the switch settings which would block cause this problem either. Also I have no problem with RDP if use a cable to connect to the network. Strange...

This is a very strange problem. I am trying to use RDP to connect to a Windows 7 PC over WiFi. I only seem to be able to establish connection when I am near one access point. At other access points I can access all the normal network services but just not an RDP connection to the Windows 7 PC. At the same access points, I can use RDP to connect to servers. This doesn't make sense. The access points shouldn't affect RDP connections just to one PC.

Is the problem just with PowerPoint point files or other file types as well? Are you using offline files? If so you should check that it is working properly on all client machines.

Yes. This is the first thing we checked. We can ping the servers and also get out to the Internet.

No. The servers and clients are in different VLANs.

Oh. Forgot completely about site and services. I thought it applied more to computers in geographically distant locations. Still doesn't explain why active directory operations succeed on non-default VLANs but with a noticeable delay. Confused

We have a strange problem. Computers on non-default VLANs take a long time to process Computer Settings policies. It also takes a long time to go from the log on box to showing the desktop when a user logs in. It can take as long as five minutes from power up to a full log on. After a user has logged in there doesn’t appear to be further problems with network speed. Access to the file shares or networked printers is at normal speeds. There are no unusual slowdowns when accessing the Internet. In fact if the computer was not on the domain you would not notice there was a speed problem at all. Computers on the default VLAN act like normal domain clients with no slow downs during start up or during login. Can’t see what we have missed. Should there be such a big difference in the operation of domain clients on different VLANs? Any ideas? TIA.

To do things programatically I would probably install cygwin then use a mixture of find and sed If you want to use only Microsoft tools then you could probably a mixure of FOR /R to crawl the folder tree and a VB script for the find a replace. I suppose you could also Word as an IDE/runtime and knockup a quick app in VBA. It's the tree crawling that would be the tricky bit.

Yeah I know. That was a pretty dumb thing to do but I don't get to practice this procedure all that often.

Oh bother!!!!! Restore went OK but everybody starts using email again before I was able to replay log files from yesterday. Now what am I going to do? Is it going to be a case of restore to recovery group, replay and then exmerge Thursday's messages?

Thanks for the tip Dos_Box. I did think about using ESEUTIL but the timescales Microsoft gave were just not workable. We have mock exams next week and we can't afford to be offline that long.
