Jurrasic World: Dominion - 4/10 Very much a meh film. Fine if you just want an action film with dinosaurs, but just don't go in expecting anything decent from the Jurrasic Park series. In my opinion, the film was stuck trying to give enough screen time to both the new cast and the old cast, whilst also trying to do far too many call back phrases and scenes from previous films. For me, the best thing about the film was the unusual BBFC rating screen.

Would someone be able to share the MSI with me also?

It complains that pip doesn't exist. I'm currently testing replacing our installation of 3.9 with 3.10.5, which not only puts us on a newer version, it is also installing pip and the Scripts folder. I'm now testing the deployment of Pygame to the test collection using @chris_uk's post for SCCM.

We've been asked to install Pygame on our systems, but honestly, I can't figure out how to do this. Other Pyhton based software we've deployed, Like Mu Editor and Thonny have had separate installers, which made it easier. Our Python is installed in C:\Program Files\Python39. However, there is no Scripts folder located within here, so I can't use pip. We deploy software via SCCM and I can't figure out if it's possible to install Pygame this way. Edit: I saw there is an MSI in another thread, though it says to get the MSI that matches the version of Python. The latest MSI I can see is for 3.2, despite we're running Python 3.9.

I believe if you Intune the devices, you can manage the security from there (though it may require additional licenses).

The main three I tend to see used more often are NetSupport, Impero and Senso.Cloud. We are still using an older version of Impero, though we're not paying maintenance, so we have no support and no ability to upgrade to a newer version. It does fail on clients every now and again and if I can't get the service to start, a complete uninstall and reinstall of the client fixes that. We did get a quote from NetSupport, but their prices were simply too high in comparison (especially when matching Impero's full feature set). We are currently using the Safeguarding aspect of Senso.Cloud for student home devices (DfE laptops) and it works well. The rest of it was priced similarly to Impero, but offered no real advantage at the time. Plus as I mentioned, we are not currently paying anything for this older version of Impero...so aside from support, we wouldn't be benefitting much. If I did have the budget and requirement, then I'd probably be leaning more towards Senso.Cloud personally.

Yeah, that rings a bell from when I read through the support page. Since it was only a recommendation and not mandatory, I figured it was fine to leave it as it was.

Though you are comparing a mobile CPU against what was a flagship desktop model, they're not really comparable directly, especially from a power draw and thermal point of view. However, unless you have the need, or can afford/justify the cost...then ideally you should only replace your hardware when it no longer performs the tasks you need (or in an acceptable time frame). If you were 4K gaming with max settings for example, then that CPU would be a large bottleneck. But if you're doing light tasks, then it's still perfectly capable. We're about to enter year 7+ of our current desktops for staff and students. We'd have liked to have replaced them in 2020 as a five year life cycle, but the pandemic, debts accrued due to it and increasingly high cost of semi-conductors has removed that as an option. We're now looking at almost a 10 year lifespan, with an upgrade likely between 2023-2025. The PCs are just fine as they are. I'd like them to be quicker with logon times, loading files, etc...but they're 4th gen i5, 8GB RAM and an SSD...so they're still performing in terms of basic/browser office use.

I upgraded ours last week during half term. It was a vey painless experience. The only thing it moaned about was using something called the DefaultAnchor? (I can't remember exactly) It recommended using another anchor, but doing so would require going through the whole setup wizard again, redoing the configuration. I wasn't up for that task last week, so I left it as it was.

I use BitWarden as my personal password manager, after moving to it from LastPass when they introduced the PC and mobile distinctions. It's been great, though it's not as smooth as LastPass was...I find the autofill doesn't quite work as well and the app is slower on Android. We're still dubious about hosted solutions for storing workplace credentials, so our team are still using a shared Excel password document via OneDrive. As for staff...ever since Microsoft introduced syncing into Chromium Edge, staff can save their credentials in there and access is anywhere, providing they sign into Edge with their workplace credentials.

I did by granting the user's account full security permission to "C:\Program Files (x86)\DRS". It's important to note that the user is using a local account on their laptop, not their domain account. So the permissions were set for their local account on that folder.

When you extract the files, all the sub files and folders need to be present in the same folder. I *think* .NET 4.8 is also a requirement, but I may be wrong.

Which HP model is it? G7 is just the model generation. Most of our staff laptops purchased for lockdowns are i5 varients of the HP 250 or 255 G7. We have no issues with them, though we did completely wipe them and install Win10 Edu via SCCM, so they don't have any of the pre-installed stuff on them. We also received a whole raft of i3 varients of the HP 255 G7 via the DfE scheme, which are all joined via Intune (I can't remember what the exact step is called, but we did a Fresh Start or something, which resets the OS and removes built-in apps...but keeps the profiles). We don't have any issues with those either.

I was checking within the "All Software Updates" in the normal "Software Updates" section. I also created the ADR in that section too. I had looked in the "Office 365 Updates" folder earlier and it was empty when I filtered for "2019". It was only listing M365 and LTSC updates. Now it's also listing 2019 updates. Maybe it just took some more time that wasn't being shown in the log before I posted this! I've just created the ADR from the Office 365 Client Management section and it has downloaded the updates (I can see them in the deployment package folder). I don't know why creating it in the original ADR section didn't work though. I used exactly the same settings/configuration! We've had Office 2019 deployed the same way since, well, 2019 and it had previously been doing updates. I've just checked the registry and I can see that "OfficeMgmtCOM" is set to "True". It seems like it was purely an SCCM configuration issue.

I've realised that SCCM hasn't been updating our Office 2019 Professional Plus installations for quite some time. Looking at the ADR, it sucessfully runs but no updates show on clients. When I check "All Software Updates" and either search for "Office 2019" or use the product filter for "Microsoft 365 Apps/Office 2019/Office LTSC", no results are shown. I had been having issues with other updates too, where Windows 10 clients and servers were also not receiving updates. I reinstalled the SUP yesterday and now they are receiving updates as expected. However, Office updates are not. I have done the following: Ensured "Microsoft 365 Apps/Office 2019/Office LTSC" is checked in SUP settings (as well as unchecking and rechecking it) Deleted the ADR, Deployment Package and SUG, as well as deleted the contents from the package folder. Recreated the ADR, Deployment Package and SUG When I rechecked the option in the SUP settings and performed a sync, I did see in wsyncmgr.log that it was syncrhonising Office updates, such as: "Synchronizing update 8546dce6-1db6-4f7d-b973-579271e2c42d - Office 2019 Perpetual Enterprise Client Update Version Perpetual for x64 based Edition (Build 10384.20023) Base Url for Office update file list service not configured or not valid , keep the original Url Process O365 update manifest with no proxy. SQL MESSAGE: - String data, right truncation From my understanding, "Base Url for Office update file list service not configured or not valid , keep the original Url" is a common message even in working environments and the update is downloaded. So SCCM knows about the updates, they just aren't appearing in the list and I don't know why. Has anyone else encountered this?

I saw Top Gun Maverick over the weekend in IMAX and really, really enjoyed it. It really does stand up against the original, with less of the worst things of the original, like the long love scenes, shiny/naked volleyball. There's obviously VFX in the film, but they still did an awful lot as practical effects and stunt flying.

I just launched Android Auto on my phone (Android 11 - and won't update newer than that) and I also get that message - but the app still functions as I'd expect. I think the Android Auto app will continue to work for you, despite the message. Or are you experiencing issues atm?

How does your phone connect to your car's stereo, presumably bluetooth? Instead of Android Auto, I just use either Google Maps or Waze, which also has Spotify integration. I also have an app called "Bluetooth Volume Manager", which I have configured to change some settings when the phone connects to the car's bluetooth. Things such as the audio volume and auto-start Spotify. That way, I don't even need to take my phone out of my pocket if I don't need to use maps. Edit: If you're after the other app integrations, apparently the functions are being moved into "Google Assistant driving mode", though that may be limited to Android 12 or newer. From what I'm reading, older versions of Andoird/Auto will continue to work as is.

What's your budget range? Presumably, since you're looking at an i9/workstation range, it's not minimal? Though obviously, the semiconductor industry still hasn't recovered from the pandemic and high demand, so prices are still relatively high in comparison. Do you want the latest CPU models, such as Intel's 12th gen? If you do, I'm wondering if it's worth waiting for AMD's 7000 series later this year (autumn-ish). Both Intel and AMD are making huge strides in performance with their latest architectures, as opposed to the small incremental bumps each generation we've been used to for the past 15 years. Both Intel's 12th gen and AMD's 7000 series will support PCIe 5.0 for graphics and storage, as well as DDR5. Is pre-built your preference, or would you consider building your own? As then you aren't limited to things such as cases and drive bay limits.

If this is the same e-marker software that WJEC uses (by DRS or something like that)...then giving the folder in Program Files (x86) full permissions for the user that will be using it worked for me. The software doesn't work when in school or via the VPN, though that's because our filtering blocks it. I'm not bothering fixing it, because IIRC, staff aren't allowed to use the software on the school's network (think I got that from a previous teacher who was doing it). I created a local user on the staff laptop for them to log into at home, instead of using the AOVPN and gave that account full permissions on the folder in Program Files (x86). I've had confirmation from the member of staff that it works for them at home, using the local account on the laptop.

If you can't boot the OS, my first thought would be to connect the drive to another PC and see if you can access the files that way. When it comes to restoring Windows and copying files back, I wouldn't risk just copying all the files from the source drive and copying them back when Windows is reinstalled, I'd only do data folders, such as Documents, Pictures, etc (and maybe AppData). Other applications would need resinstalling manually.

I saw Everything Everywhere All At Once last week and really loved it. The best film I've seen in a good while.

Since you have a GPO called "Wsus NO WSUS ITS BRO...", I suspect that your WSUS is broken. If you can fix or redo WSUS, I reckon that'll resolve your issues regarding Windows 11 upgrades. Also, the WSUS settings are located in: Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Updates > Manage updated offered from Windows Server Update Service. If you specify a WSUS location in "Specify intranet Microsoft update service location" (even if the source you enter doesn't exist, such as "serverdoesntexist.fqdn") and also set "Do not connect to any Windows Update Internet locations" to "Enabled", that should prevent your devices connecting to the Internet for updates...then the clients shouldn't be allowed to talk to the Internet.

I'm also using Windows 10 Education. Education is a skew of Enterprise, which is different than Home/Pro, etc.
