I set up our Microsoft Always-On VPN while we had Smoothwall, though this was back in 2018/2019. We're no longer using Smoothwall and I can't remember the steps I'd taken. Though I'm pretty sure that it was relatively simple, like ensuring the TCP and UDP ports are open from the WAN to your VPN server's NIC. I have two NICs on the VPN server, one on the server internal VLAN and the other on our firewall VLAN. The Smoothwall firewall rule directed the traffic from outside to the firewall NIC.

It doesn't seem to be coming from a security risk point of view, more of a political point of view regarding the Uighur population and possible complicitness from said companies.

I wonder if they're anything like the old Ergo Hybrid 101 we used to have years ago, which had no built-in Ethernet and lacked the ability to PXE boot. Instead, I had to create a bootable USB media drive from SCCM and use a USB hub with an Ethernet port. First boot from the USB to load WinPE, then it can use the Ethernet port to connect to SCCM and pull the data.

Sorry, I should have checked the link. It looks like Powershell is the answer (but I can't think of the commands off the top of my head). Are there more fields, other than the givenName and sn that need changing? Unless specified otherwise, I believe fields like the displayname, sAMAccountName, userPrincipalName, mail, etc, are built automatically.

I've been asked to install Pygame Zero, which is a different Python project, built from Pygame...but I've been having trouble installing it. I have the WHL file, but I'm getting the following error when I try to install it: C:\Windows>"C:\Program Files\Python310\python.exe" -m pip install \\server\share$\Apps\Python\Pygame Zero\1.2.1\pgero-1.2.1-py3-none-any.whl Defaulting to user installation because normal site-packages is not writable Error: Directory '\\\\server\\share$\\Apps\\Python\\Pygame' is not installable. Neither 'setup.py' nor 'pyproject.toml' found. I get the same error when I try running these two commands: "C:\Program Files\Python310\Scripts\pip3.exe" install %~dp0pgzero-1.2.1-py3-none-any.whl and "C:\Program Files\Python310\python.exe" -m pip install %~dp0pgzero-1.2.1-py3-none-any.whl It looks like it's trying to install it to the same folder/share that the whl installer file is located in, but I want it to install in the default site-packages folder on the local machine's Python installation folder. I can't figure out why this is happening. I've used the same command to install the original Pygame and that works correctly. It just seems to be an issue with Pygame Zero.

DelProf2 hasn't worked correctly on Windows 10. The recommended method is the GPO: Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > System > User Profiles > Delete user profiles older than a specified number of days on computer restart. I have that set to 60 days across all machines, so not to wipe staff profiles over the holidays for example.

They are calling for not only the ban of sale, but also banning use of them. We replaced our CCTV system last year with a Dahua system. I hope we wouldn't have to foot the cost of replacing them all again!

Has yours been done yet? If so, do you know what they actually did?

We are changing MIS over the summer and have been quoted £150 by Inventry (not included in the support contract) to change it between the two. As far as we can tell, it's as simple and changing a few options in the Inventry settings. Is this the case, or do they have to do some other stuff? Because it seems like a lot just to change a handful of fields.

Ideally you'll want to use an MDM (Mobile Device Manager), like Jamf, Mosyle or Intune for example. You can register the devices (via your supplier) into Apple's DEP program (which you tie to your MDM via a token). That way, when a device is imaged/reinstalled and connects to the Internet for the first time during setup - it speaks to Apple's servers and points the device to your MDM. You'll need to configure a management profile with basic settings, which will be applied once the profile is installed. You'll also need to create some configuration profiles for restrictions and configurations, which you can target to those devices, or specific device groups.

Hi Bromcom Training, I had already looked through that documentation and set up a few test resources to book. This is how I came to have these questions, as I want to know if it is possible to achieve what I asked.

Is this article saying that new ADMX policies are installed in a new folder called PolicyDefinitions-21H2 (for example), along side the original PolicyDefinitions folder? I've always installed new ADMX templates into PolicyDefinitions and overwritten the older files.

Bear in mind that Windows 11 ADMX templates are not backwards compatible with Windows 10. Microsoft recommend using the ADMX templates for the OS that you have the majority of on your domain. I have installed the Windows 10 21H2 ADMX templates and "Disable Internet Explorer as a standalone browser" is there.

We are rolling out Bromcom over summer and have access to our test instance, before it goes live. I see that it has a booking system and I'd like it to replace our HAP (Home Access Plus) system. After some testing, I've noticed a couple of things that would be a deal breaker, which HAP does but it appears Bromcom doesn't. Auto-approved/first come first served bookings. We have a number of resources available to book and we'd like staff just to be able to book them without the need for approval by an admin. Is this possible? If a resource is booked, how can another member of staff see this? Ideally some form of calendar view, where staff can quickly see if the resources are free for a specific period/time would be ideal Timings - I have set the times that items can be booked to correspond with our lesson timings - but can we not just have it listed as Period 1, Period 2, etc? Instead of staff having to select specific start and finish times? Hiding department specific resources from everyone else, so only that department can see and book their departmental resources I know it's probably asking a lot and we'll likely stick with HAP - but I wanted to put the questions out there, since Bromcom is new to me and I may have missed some options.

Where did you get the whl file from? I can't seem to find it. I've deployed Pygame via SCCM, but each installation pulls the files from the internet, which is proving hit and miss (with some clients reporting it's installed in SCCM, but Python cannot load the module). So I'd rather do an offline install via SCCM than have each client pull from the Internet. I also don't know what to reliably use for a detection method.

Ruckus ZoneDirector 1200 with Ruckus 500 Wi-Fi 5 APs, installed in 2015. The ZD died earlier this year and we replaced it under warranty. The system as a whole has been very good.

From my Google Play history, Bluetooth Volume Manager was £2.09 when I purchased the premium version back in Feb 2019. Waze does open Spotify when I selected it, but it wasn't automatic. I tend to use Google Maps rather than Waze, just for ease. But most of my journeys I don't use maps, since I mainly commute and I know the routes extremely well. Bluetooth Volume Manager just launches Spotify when connected to the car's bluetooth.

You'd likely need to upgrade your servers and server function level to at least 2019. Microsoft do not recommend running multiple versions of the OS with Windows 11, as the GPOs are not compatible with older OSs. Their guidance is to use the GPO templates for the version of the OS you have the most of. So if you have more Windows 10 than Windows 11, stick to the Windows 10 GPOs. You'd be better off upgrading all the machines to Windows 10 21H2 and then investigating Windows 11. ESS have also stated that SIMS is not supported on Windows 11.

I spoke with one of our AltoDigital engineers the other day and he said that our Xerox stock is pretty much back at regular levels/timeframes, but other companies that they also supply (such as Ricoh, Sharp, etc) are still pretty bad for them. Maybe that's because they're a Xerox company now, prioritised by Xerox and de-prioritised by other suppliers?
