Hi So some of our schools have on premise servers NOT running SOLUS. After this Summer upgrade has happened on the server users are coming in, double clicking the SIMS shortcut, the update starts to run (showing SIMSAmParkSetup.exe) and thats it, it doesnt move, at first I thought it was related to recent Windows 11 upgrades but it appears to happen on Windows 10 machines too. One school said they left the screen running all day yesterday and over last night and it did run after about 24 hours. Any ideas as Im stumped? Thanks

I know each case will be different but how many devices do you manage and how much do you pay? Don't need to go down the new software route if it doesn't save money really 🙂

Is that JUST for patch management? I need to be able to take control, deploy applications, compile and run scripts....

Hi For years as a local authority we have used Datto RMM for device management, software deployment, asset management etc.etc. At £10k a year for 1000 devices does this seem reasonable compared to what you use? What other software can you recommend? We are based at the LA office and all schools are on different networks so makes things a little less easy as all support is done across the internet rather than internal LAN. Thanks

Simple question... What backup solution do you use on your servers? Single domain controller and/or a SIMS SQL server. We are currently using Redstor to backup approx. 50 schools / servers and looking to make savings.

Hi Does anyone have a decent contract and SLA document that could be shared to assist with services that are offered to schools in terms of technical support. Dont mind if its a real one (obviously blanked slightly) or a template that they have used.

Are you sure robocopy \\source \\destination /COPYALL will actually copy everything including security permissions??

Hi New server going in, really big folder structure with various permissions, how would you copy ALL data from one to the other? Obvioulsy need to keep all permissions intact. I read Robocopy can do it but I see so many differing switches to capture permissions Any tools that you could recommend? Ta

Had 2 x 2012 servers, 2 domains with a trust relationship between the 2. Replaced one of the servers with a 2016 server (it says functional level is 2016) now anyone in the 2012 domain is unable to access resources in 2016 domain.... We think possibly because of functional level. I guess I cant raise the 2012 to 2016 but i could take 2016 backwards to 2012, what are the implications? Is this a bad thing to do? Will my current 2016 domain be messed up? Any advice as I have never messed with functional levels :-)
