Easier / cheaper to use peasant labour probably.

Cheaper to make than metal? ETA - WTF is he going to do with them now? Send them to China to be burnt in a field? Which is what was happening to all those carrier bags we took back to the supermarkets...

Avoiding the politics of what is happening in the US at the moment; is anyone getting the heebee-gebbies about the risk of processing / storage where Musk's teams can steam in and download everything and anything they like?

Errr... My guess? Spouse of deputy head who "does something in IT".

I see your foxes and deer, and raise you otters. Also on the edge of a small city (once capital of England). Technically a city, but smaller than most large towns..

Paxton Net2 Door stuck permanently in an unlocked state
Andrew_C replied to MrEprise's topic in Physical Security
Another gotcha is the "Emergency Break button" thingy. If pressed, it unlocks the door as you'd expect, but it really doesn't show that well locally that it has been pressed. Should show a yellow line at the top, but if you are looking down at it, it is all but invisible. Took a fair bit of finding... -
Seeing reports that DeepSeek has been hit with 230m DDOS requests per second. Do you think they've got up someone's nose?

Pasco - really good, sophisticated software, and a free Smartphone version too - SPARKvue. Vast range of sensors. However, it is !£expensive!. Available in UK through Vitta. The Smartphone version can (allegedly) use a phones built in sensors for simple experiments. Data Harvest - I've not used anything like as much, but YUK. Software horrid, doesn't seem to be the range of sensors. Both seem to be pushing "wireless" - not necessarily a good thing in my view. I don't i anything, so can't comment on that aspect.

For audio playback I'd look at SCS running on a PC. Sophisticated, powerful, but the simple stuff is fairly straightforward. I think the trial version is still free. None of this stuff is going to work itself. Despite what drama teachers seem to think...

LA fires - a metaphor for our times.... -
ETC over Chamsys. Both capable, but actually having faders for learning for me. ETC widly used in schools, and real theatres. Chamsys IS out there, but more towards music & events.

Hiring - set a relatively small £sum against each production, but ignore totally the pain in the **** it is for the poor person setting up in not enough time, and clearing away in less. Worse if you have to collect the kit... Buying - ££$$CHING!! The only thing a bean-counter sees, or cares about.

My gut says that's quite a long throw. I suspect that buying more profiles for that bar will be a better use of cash than the strips. I do have to admit I've not used modern LEDs in anger, so they may have come on a long way... Can you hire some to try? Or buy from someone woith stock who can demo?

Tudor style in "The Land Down Under" would have looked more like a scene from "Walkabout". -
I wonder if (spits) DVLA will continue to drop peoples' entitlements at renewal time?
