For people who might have had confusing emails regarding SSL certs issued via Trustico / RapidSSL/Digicert

tentatively looked at something similar for home users and small businesses, and alot of people dont want to pay for expertise it seems. which was a little frustrating at the time. "you can look it up on the internet" and phrases like that were what i heard quite alot but then in the area i live in there are quite a few firms already established id love to involved in a jobs with a specific focus rather than the current bumbling along...

We use the 3rd party warranty option for one of our Dell servers which is provided by upgrade options, we have used it a couple of times for replacement hard disks. The replacements are dispatched next day and with little or no fuss. For the cost of the years cover compared to the cost of the disks and sourcing them its good value.

tripped up by this again, had to do a couple of updates to Solus as the version i was running does not jump straight to the latest required version. is this requirement pointed out in the release notes, as i recall last time having this as couple of years ago that it was something they had omitted....

id check that you have the correct driver installed in MDT as there might be a slight revision that the driver you have for the HP635 isnt the correct one. iirc i think HP might do an SCCM/MDT network driver pack as i believe the driver version for winpe can be slightly different with network drivers. are you using any selection profiles for creating the boot packages?

really i thought it was the next big thing for dell to grow market share further in schools and smb. and would have a long life. perhaps it hasnt worked out as well as they would have liked?

just got this lot chucked in the garage lets me get a feel for HA clustering etc its not that quick (the whitebox storage is only on 100mb and a couple of 7200 disks) but it works

id have some NUC's if they werent so expensive

i have a couple of HP microservers (GEN7 N40L and N36L) and a 3com SS4500 and a whitebox for a storage location and it seems to work alright and was pretty cheap and compact. not long set it up but will be used to lab 2012r2 fail over etc. (likely move over to 2016 at some point as i can then run hyper-v within hyper-v) if i could fit more ram without costing an arm and a leg i would but not really an option atm what ever you choose SSD is the way to go for disk storage for your VM

Stumbled across while looking for some information about Dell OME which does the job but is a bit of an unwieldy animal at 1st, its interesting to see that they have ditched needing a full phat operating system install & SQL and have gone down the route of supplying a virtual appliance which is nice. (which id put onto decent computer instead of being on the host it was monitoring) anyone taken the plunge and used it in anger yet? as usual the recommended operating requirements are a little steep imo.

i think the issue apart from counting was also how problems were dealt with by the firm supplying the copier contract and what they promised could be delivered by them and the software and it just didnt work out.

so how would this work in an actual environment if you needed to login as the local admin, its something i have seen but wondered about how it would actually be usable.

in our case some of the accounting didnt add up for number of pages printed to what was actually printed and other differences. from an IT point of view the follow me printing and the deployment of the printer worked without a problem, the issues about were from an admin and costing point of view.

when i purchased a license and then looked in the license manager one license manages 5 activation's. might be worth a call to your reseller for them to confirm how the license model works.

you only need to pay once for the version you require and then you can use it forever, its only if you want to upgrade the software after a year that you then need to pay again. unless they have changed the process in the last 8 months.

apart from when papercut isnt able to count properly when using canon copiers.....

its just a little frustrating as i was looking for some insight in to what is on offer for storage and how it can be leveraged, its all well and good experimenting with things like storage spaces in a virtual machine to actually deploying it on live equipment (connecting up enclosures and the like if your using such things) id love to purchase some equipment to test this kind of stuff but it is too expensive from a personally point of view

Spent last week talking with Dell after requesting a quote from a one of our supplies who provided a quote but also referred us to Dell to talk about our storage requirements. Im not an expert on storage as such so was hoping to have a discussion with them about various options they could provide for "flexible storage" to replace some old Powervault NAS (i had been looking at NX series / Poweredge 730xd's) so after a week of waiting and answering a couple of questions (how much disk space do you require / looking for SAN solution or DAS / how many users) i get a quote back for an NX NAS which i had already done myself - i was kinda expecting them to provide a couple of options from the various products they offer not just heres a NAS quote :/ i mean we dont do anything fancy for user folders and shared resources but just to punt a quote back seems very half arsed
