The built in help has a full list of the variables which you can use (if you haven't already found that)

When i have connected MDT to SQL. i have just created an "MDT User" and from memory it just needs read access to the SQL. i dont rename or touch any of the existing accounts within SQL (i set an SA password and setup windows authentication if its needed to manage the DB) are you trying to rename an account?

id say that is because 10 is going alot more stuff in the background compared to 7 would be my initial impression.

its worth noting that alot of app store apps require IOS 10 which i dont think ipad2 supports so things like office etc which have worked previously for us no longer push from the app store iva meraki

for the MCSA i think it was a couple of hundred, i would have to check as it was work funded As for Robust they seemed ok when it came to booking the exam they do it for you if needed but that is as far as their involvement is as it is then past to PearsonVUE (if using the proctored option outside a test center). Now i have done it once the whole process will be easier next time as there are a few hoops to jump through in setting up your microsoft exam profile. Doing a full MCSA 2016 might not be sellable as we dont currently use the platform and the management dont look that far ahead.

i have a a load of PDF and video thing to look through, for the MCSA i did an online course with RobustIT and then a pearsonVUE exam (which was interesting) as i didnt want to travel to a test center as the nearest one was Poole

So after finally getting my school to actually fund some useful training passed the MTA Server Admin (about 1,000,000's later than i should have) the other week. Looking at other options would a 2012 MCSA converting to 2016 be more rounded than just doing the 2016 MCSA. In the place i work and a couple that i assist with 2016 isnt on the cards yet, but the 2016 would have more future proofing thoughts?

i was testing the system in a hyper-v snapshot so just reverted.

i spoke to MLS recently about this and they were still pushing for us to go hosted, our on prem eclipse is quite a few versions behind, it does work well enough. I enquired about the HTML5 for local and was basically told the latest version of silver light 16.x.x is all local hosted schools are going to get. and yes i did the same thing as you with the interface having got excited about seeing the HTML5 option. Also im pretty sure the recommended specs are a little over the top but will see when if and when it gets pushed into production.

i think that is a little harsh, in some schools actually managing and developing the system is being squeezed to a point where it isnt the main priority.

no the machines are being used offsite with there own keys etc so the idea was to install one machine and copy to the other 3. i have done it in the past with 8.1 etc without any issues.

Hi All, can some one looks over this and tell me if im missing the wood for the tree so to speak. imaging a couple of machines from a WIM file captured to a USB driver from a windows 10 PC (MBR boot) the bios does support UEFI but is not booted this way. when i attempt to create the boot files on the system drive i get a failure message diskpart select disk 0 clean create partition primary size=350 active assign letter=S format quick fs=ntfs label=System create partition primary assign letter=W format quick fs=ntfs label=Windows dism "apply image from USB location" X: bcdboot w:\windows /s s: (also tried copying from the X:\windows of winpe) i then get a failure to copy / create boot files tried various options for creating the partition (inc making both active which to me isnt needed) recreated the same process on a virtual test box and it works like a charm. any thoughts be grand. cheers

Raid or Storage spaces, anybody taken the plunge yet?
SHimmer45 replied to Jaan's topic in Windows Server 2016
i think "failing support" isnt going to be any issue, the fact that the tech has survived through two versions of Windows server imo they are going to back it to the hilt. -
@dhicks response makes the most sense. RAID is about providing fault tolerance when you have a disk issue like others here you expect disks to fail at some point (mechanical or otherwise) having to swap out a disk is much easier than a whole server because of a disk issue (or recovering a VM). a replica server to cover another server is going to cost more than a disk and raid. If the school are expecting a resilient system to cover a disaster event they need to give you the budget to do it (IE fail over server etc)

Raid or Storage spaces, anybody taken the plunge yet?
SHimmer45 replied to Jaan's topic in Windows Server 2016
my understanding is that you need a HBA card to attach your server to a external disk array or internal disks in the actual server (HBA card needs to support certain standards mind you) storage spaces will allow you to do mirroring and parity and can be setup to "allow" multiple disk failures -
doesnt look like they have fixed it.......

MDT error code 1639 and 1619 while deploying applications
SHimmer45 replied to denmyos's topic in O/S Deployment
quiet is /QN for msiexec after the msiexec /i id put the full path to where the installer is as you appear to put the path in after calling the quicktime.msi check that the applications added to MDT that the paths to the installers are correct / the packages are present on the MDT server (depending on how you have added them to MDT) -

i pulled my info on how the file works from: KnowledgeBase - How to add the SMART Ink overlay and Toolbar to an application KnowledgeBase - How to remove the SMART Ink overlay and hide the SMART Ink Toolbar for a single application if you need a couple of the file i should be able to dig one out

we purchased a few licenses to update some VERY old board software which allows us to use the smart software release up to 2018, after that we would need to pay to get any more updated software. But for the purpose we required this is going to be fine as we got the update we needed after the licenses stops allowing you to use updates after 2018 it doesnt prevent using the version you already have
