  1. i believe you can turn this off in the answer file for a deployment as well
  2. right click on the folder > Properties > Security > Advanced window opens and shows you current permissions and owner, should link to Change in blue. set owner to local / domain administrator (you preference) apply close and reopen window and you should now be able to view and set permissions as required.
  3. sounds like you need to force a "take ownership" move them to your restored area and then apply the correct permissions from there.
  4. no problem everyone love's a "5 minute job" which grows arms and legs
  5. from my short notes from a moon ago create flashplayertrust folder in c:\windows\system32\macromed then create a .cfg file with the trusted location inside the file (i name each file the same as the location i wish to trust, i guess you could have one file doing a whole list i have one internal location for some flash content which is just pasted into a single line in the file hope that proves a little useful i have only ever needed to use it for a local location but the setting according to the flash docs should be a machine setting rather than per user which is think is what the .sol file (i guess you could jump that in programdata to have the same result?)
  6. i add a .cfg file into macromed folder which has a list of the sites i want to be trusted locations and that works as well

    Failed RAID

to me that looks like you have a failed drive in 2 different arrays, which make up you Virtual disk 1 & 2. if a disk has failed and you pull the failed one and replace it it *should* start an auto rebuild. pulling the correct disks is key (if you have hot swap caddies you should have solid amber lights iirc) on the server can you still see the files? sophos / file access might be because its slow to repsond as the array (if it is still workings is in degraded mode and will be much slower)

    Linx 1010

we brought a 1010e and that had pro /education version of windows 10 on it also i think you can change the version using Windows imaging design tool if you for example have a few of them already and need to join a domain.
  9. i had a similar issue with deploying a discover update and it ended up being the version of SOLUS that i was running on the sever being out of date. though i am pretty sure it doesnt mention such things in the release notes?
  10. it *was across all edition i thought, its the lock screen that is edition specific?
  11. locations are still the same for the logon pictures i also apply the gpo option to force the same image to all users
  12. well its lasted 4 years but i think its given up the ghost, playing D3 on and off all day and the screen will either go black / judder in one spot but i can still hear and control the game it appears to recover after a couple of minutes so all i play is blizzard games on a 20" panel 1600x1200 and need a replacement what sort of options do i have, having looked over a few lists something a 7000 series or an R5 series be from the same price point as the 6870?
  13. having reformatted my test image and reinstalled 1607 and added my customization's it appears to be behaving, interestingly i left photo editor/viewer in place and all of my changes have actually held
  14. £££££££££££££££££££££££££££ and more ££££££££££££££££££££££££££ i like surfaces but they are expensive.
  15. this might explain when testing Pro x64 with 1607 that doesnt seem to be allowing me to change the default logon background and the lock screen. frustrating if this is the case... why remove this from Pro and not the others why are they taking stuff away from pro...
  16. Windowsnetworking.com has very good resources for MDT 2010 and the principles are the same Deploying Windows 7 - Part 1: Windows AIK 2.0 Enhancements :: Windows 7 :: Articles & Tutorials :: WindowsNetworking.com also a good site for various other windows / network concepts and guides
  17. will take a looks thanks for the input
  18. i already do a decent amount of work with "Servers" AD admin Hyper-V etc but its all self taught and i havent got any relevant qualifications which matter on my CV. looking at the course content of the MTA there are things on there which would be of interest as i dont have much exposure to them in day to day work. for some of it you could argue that i dont need to be on it but the overall aim is to start building my CV as i am struggling to get interviews for jobs which require "relevant IT qualification" and a BTEC from 2002 isnt going to cut it anymore.
  19. not strictly a lNM post i dont think but here goes.. be told i need to look into a course which i can put forward as part of my performance management, (i am a snr tech in the school i work in) looking with interest at the Microsoft MTA Windows Server Administration Fundamentals 98-365, has anyone taken this course and be able to provide some feedback about it & if you used a training center to complete or just self study. From looking at the course content it comes across as a useful bridge inbetween a comptia and some of the more heavyweight certs from MS like a MSCE/A TIA
  20. or run slmgr.vbs to add the key you require @AgeeTech
  21. as part of your deployment you could add the MAK key to the answer file and its put in for you
  22. do you have any mac filter in place? or go right back and check the cable and point for damage
  23. 169 address suggests that the machine has self assigned an IP (usually) because it hasn't received an IP address from DHCP. also believe if a machine cant ping its gateway it will produce similar behavior
  24. not used "core" much but i can see the idea of it. one of the main changes i am interested in with 2016 is the optimizing of storage spaces volumes which should have the head ache of having to recopy data onto certain rebuilt volumes for it to use all of the disks.
  25. ended up using WMIC W32_baseboard get product like %mobonamehere% as @sted has said you can use a selection profile as well (like everything there multiple ways of doing it) i have added a step for each mobo make we have with this query and then that step installs from a selection profile - a little long winded to setup but for the most part works (niggles apart).
