if you have access to a machine which is already setup i did see a while ago that there is a cmdlet in powershell for extracting installed drivers Export-WindowsDriver

will VLSC actually show the new ISO's automatically or do you need to contact MS / reseller to have them released ?

Trying to streamline the driver injection process for MDT so i have more control, as i understand ZTIgather queries the machine by WMIC for specific items (make and model) which is fine on branded hardware like Dell or HP as this information is present. On other machine like Novatech or Stone this isnt the case, managed to find a work around using selection profiles and adding a WMIC query asking for manufacturer & product which works but is a bit of a faff, as each driver needs a selection profile and editing. Is it possible to add manufacturer & product as a variable in ZTI? tia

i personally use reds at home and have been pleased with them so far.

unless the NAS is THAT fussy over the drives it uses, it should be ok i would try and match the spare as closely as possibly (ie size spindle speed & cache size)

Any members game on over watch with an older pc, what sort of frame rates are people getting. on my 20" panel with everything turned off @ 1600x1200 i manage mid 60-70 FPS but in busy combat dips mid 30's or below PC is phenom II x4 2.9Ghz 16GB RAM HD 6870 i am thinking that the gfx card is the main thing that is holding the machine back, or has the Phenom had its day? keep looking at cheap Z400 workstations on ebay and wonder if dropping bits into one of those will improve frame rates and performance. thoughts

used these ones when i dabbled with setting it up and got it up and running for me. There is / was some useful resources on petenetlive.com but i think those were for an older version (some of the setup requirements are the same i think)

most of the software we use is already bundled into the image but its not that big, additional bits are added via GPO if required.

well recreating the image using a 32bit version of windows 10 and it appears to want to boot off that. i was under the impression that EFI booting was only supported on 64bit media?

+1 on the above. we have replaced the logo and the backdrop colour using a 3rd party application (not my preferred method) seems to work ok but sometimes defaults to blue and then refreshes, then the correct colour appears

the script wont actually create the home folder it just adds the path into the users AD settings. for creating users directories i have another batch script (using md net share & icalcs) its a little old hat but works as i havent got round to looking at a powershell based alternative.

attempted to create a USB boot using rufus USB tool which made a UEFI bootable USB, i boot the linx (holding down the + volume and the power button) and then boot from file, select bootx64.efi and it comes back says its failed / not supported. so essentially the device is bricked in its current state and i cant recover it to a work state

x64 was what was installed on there so tried putting a x86 image to match was we currently run and it does appear to boot so wanted to just run a windows install off a USB to get it usable. with the older linx 10 i can get into the bios screen and select which device i wish to boot with these i can only get what i am assuming is pure UEFI and wont allow me to select a boot device (on has windows boot manager / internal EFI shell) so the thinking was to boot into the EFI shell and then go from there?

Hi all, anyone able to help me out with getting a linx 1010 to boot in UEFI mode from a windows 10 USB stick. struggling how to map/mount the USB volume to kick off the install process. 1st time using UEFI/EFI (applied an image using dism and its borked the tablet so looking to kick off a fresh install and go from there) TIA

if you look at your answer file under windows setup shell neutral there is a PRODUCT KEY option

you can put the windows key into your answer file. if you are using MDT for your deployment you can add a cmd task to run ospp.vbs with your office key as part of the deployment or create an MST for office with the key which you could deploy via AD or an installed application from MDT.

ospp.vbs which is in the office folder on the work station can be run manually to activate office if needed but both windows and office attempt to look for a KMS host without user intervention, as they install if its a Volume license version

guess it still has to copy that data, also alot of stuff is generated and stored via indexing and database/metadata rubbish.

i get around 35 seconds on a 1st login but the profile is alot larger, sounds like i could be more brutal with the trimming

thats interesting what sort of size is the profile and what sort of login times are you getting?

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > User Accounts --> apply the default logon email to all users. then put your choosen image in the various sizes into C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\User Account Pictures *files need to be a certain type (png & bitmap iirc and there are different dimensions for the different image that windows uses. if you have a look at the ones already in there you will see what i mean

In the testing stage at the moment, yes its nice and fluffy with that wow factor BUT its slower to log users in compared to a windows 7 build on the same machine. the initial profile creation on the machine can a little while and thats when its been pruned somewhat still 50MB though, second login is quicker than 7. need to see what else i can trim out. EDIT: does the redstone update also include LTSB release's?
