Hi all, a school which we provide some support to uses SCCM which is something i haven't used before so i thought i would do some reading about it, only to find there appears to be lots of different consoles called different things. is there a Microsoft page which outlines what each part of system center does, or could someone point me in the correct direction.

Well i have had a response and there isnt a fix according to the person i have been in contact with and have advised against carrying out he upgrade, but then said we could "try" and see what happens. not really the response i was after especially as the school is so dependent on it for so many things a little disappointed really.

being in contact with capita this morning and based on their advice have canned the upgrade tonight. run all the updates for office 2010 and it still doesnt change the DLL to anything near the required version ive asked for an ETA on them fixing this so be interesting on what they say.

would or does this affect office 2010 users going to be running the upgrade today, i know it posted about office 2013 VBE7.DLL version for us is 7.0.16.28

Anyone else have one of these and managed to get to send an email when it has an issue? been grappling with this today, the GUI doesnt really provide alot of information to if it actually doing anything (other makes put a useful "test" button to make life easier)

quite why microsoft dont give you these options for education / enterprise is frankly a joke, all the unification of GUI for all devices just does fit well.

nice that LibreNMS has got a plugin for Dell openmanage. as the Dell openmanage management console is horribly bloated

what camera is it, had something similar here with a JVC which just put a standard AVI into a different container (essentially just changing the extension to avi made it work.

Digging up a zombie thread alert... having trouble with this wiping a drive and selecting an image on a test WDS (i usually use MDT but a school im helping out only have WDS) the client appears to be ignoring the servers unattend file.

upgrade options offer Dell warranty service contracts on older dell equipment, i did get some pricing ages ago for a couple of the boxes we had and they were cheaper than Dell themselves. as a side note we use them for spares and upgrade parts and cant fault them.

cool usually i disable inheritance and start from a blank sheet for permissions for a top level folder, makes it much easier rather than grapling with the joy of creator owner etc

if the students have created the folder they will get FC under creator owner. Also Users has Full control set by the bottom permission in your diagram. id remove creator owner & User special and then set permissions for staff and student in separate groups to the folder. for the actual share permissions "authenticated users" with FC will allow everyone to see and access the share and then your file system permissions will do the rest

I usually wait till the xmas break before upgrading wait for the bugs to get ironed out.....

+1 for powershell tho i will admit i pinched the code off the internet but i understand how it works, REALLY should learn some more of the administration and management CMDLETs work (wonder if there is a book specific to this) i think core / nano server versions could be very useful for those wanting storage boxes and things like that without the need to use linux

rolled out the plugin early last week and the feedback has been positive. seeing as they required more intervention to run the java version and some kids just wouldnt read what was on screen

yeah worth checking its enabled and not disabled as (from memory) will overide settings in the task sequence

is it enabled in the task sequence? have you disabled it in any global options for that deployment share?

can you not update the image and then recapture it using dism?
