Hi We have just installed Windows 7 and got a little glitch. We have a folder called secondary that all the secondary pupils folders home drives are saved. Under XP this worked fine, you could browse inside there to a users folder. Now, when people have logged onto a Windows 7 machine, it just says My Documents. So inside the secondary folder, there are several My Documents folders, which each correspond to a different user. It works ok, but its hard to find some work the pupil has done. Is there any way round it. Karl

Hi, I have a few Samsung NC110 and I'm trying to get them to boot from USB. I've tried an external DVD with CLonezilla, and also tried USB memory stick. WHen I got into the bios, it still only shows the SATA disk as a boot option. Any ideas? Thanks

I managed to do this ok yesterday. In mine, rather than selecting the path to redirect to, there was an option to "Redirect to users home folder". I selected that and tested it ok

I'm the same. Got 15 RM one's coming tomorrow with Windows 7, just set up 1 HP machine with Windows 7 on. Tested Win 7 a few weeks ago and got what I thought was OK. Just need to redirect documents now, and stop the beggers adding folders to desktop

Hi, Just setting up Windows 7 and looking for a few settings in GPO that I can't find / need help with: 1 - Can you restrict them not been able to add to desktop (mainly they can right click - add folder then delete it). I've got set "Prevent Chaging Desktop Icons" in user settings - adm - control panel - personalisation but they can still add folders. 2 - On internet explorer when they go to favourites tab / history -- they can right click a history item and delete it, is there a way to stop that. 3 - Is there a way to change the button at the bottom to "Log off" and take off the switch user option 4- When Windows loads up is there a standard logon screen rather than the one that comes up with the previous user and an option to change user. Quick question-- I've got a Win 7 machine with RSAT and going to set up the profiles. DOes the Windows 7 machine have to left on when the profiles have been configured or are they stored on the 2003 server. THanks

Hi, We currently use XP / 2003 and have Winsuite installed. We don't use mandatory profiles or roaming - they basiscally logon and can access network drives. I would like a mandatory profile when I setup Windows 7, I know I have to call it profile.v2. If I set that up in active directory will the Windows XP machines still expect a profile as well? Thanks

its for a libray. we are getting 6 static computers then 4 netbooks that the pupils can use round a study table. The teachers were not too keen on laptops.

I swapped at the weekend from an iPhone 4 to an S3. Been a techy person it was quite easy to get used to. Love the ability to customise it - shortcuts to contacts on home screen, google on home screen, calendar and email on a swipe screen etc. Most of the apps I wanted are there. The screen and the speed of the OS are lightning fast.

Hi Quite often at the moment our internet seems to go down. Still says connected in the router, outlook imap and smtp still work, but http doesn't. When you power cycle the router it comes back online again. Last night it was off over night, yet when I rung the isp this morning they said it had been connected all night. Does anyone know what I can use to see whats causing it - or is it an isp issue? When I log directly on to the server, that has DNS straight to the router that doesn't work either so I don't think its a DNS issue. Thanks

Hi, I've worked out the problem with my backup. I'm using Server 2003. If I backup a disk that is on the server it works fine. If I backup the NAS device that is connected via iScsi then it comes up with an error about shadow copy. It has worked but for some reason it has stopped. Any ideas ?

Well, to update you. It turns out it backs up fine, unless you are backing up the NAS device which is connected via iScsi and a is a drive in My Computer. Its that bit it doesn't like backing up, yet it worked before

Hi Does anyone know how I can tell if an Apple mac has been plugged into the network as they don't show up in DHCP. Some of our pupils on a night try and plug laptops in - I have stopped the windows ones but 1 person has an Apple and I'd like to stop that. Thanks
