Ah, think I've got it. The one i've done the image from is 40014 MB but the one i'm doing it to is 40000. Just working out where to use the -c command to skip size checking

They are all 2nd hand machines so had something on before but have just arrived with us. Hard disks are blank now. There is no raid arrays - just one 40Gb SATA disk. I'm copying them via samba server from a share on the server.

HI, We have just bought 5 machines. All have 40Gb disks in them. Done the first one and took an image. Managed to install the image onto another machine fine. When I try the others it says: the partition table in this disk is illegal/invalid : /dev/sdb does this partition table file fit this disk :/home/partimag/2010-02-01-14-img /sdb-pt.sf? is this disk too small : /dev/sdb? ERROR: cant have a partition outside the disk Any ideas ? THanks

Hi, I have an A3 printer that is shared on a PC in school. When people are trying to print to it, it doesn't work. If you log on as an admin onto the shared pc and print from one of the others it comes up with the attached message. I have tried changing the directory but it doesn't work. There is 20GB ish free though on C:/ so space shouldn't be an issue Thanks

Hi, With all the virus' doing the rounds at the moment, and with computers needing a regular service. Which tools do you all use for this ? On my portable HDD I have: Malwarebyes CCleaner AVG Superantispyware Process Explorer TreeSize Advanced System Care Driver Backup Any others that people would recommend? I found one called ReImage the other day that claims to detect corrupt windows files and downloads a replacement from the internet. Regards

OK. Had a laptop that had XP Total Security 2011 spyware. I've had it loads on private jobs too. Boot into safe mode The file is in Documents and Settings / user / app data there is a folder with random letters and numbers Delete that and run malwarebytes / alternative

Hi I've got a users laptop. Windows XP. Not on a domain. When it boots up, it gets as far as showing the background of the desktop then takes forever to load the icons. I've done virus / spyware scan. I've selected the items that load on startup to a minimum I'm guessing its the spec. It has 512 + 256 MB Ram and a celeron processor !! Once the icons load its quite quick to do things. Its just that that takes forever. Any ideas. Thanks

Hi, We have just bought some new machines. They come with a System drive ©, and a local disk (E). Windows is installed on the E drive and all the programs install onto there too. Is the simple solution to changed the System drive to something else and change the local disk to C or is it not that simple ? Thanks

Hi, Just had the server crash on me. No one could access shares or connect to the server. Rebooted and works ok now but I would like to see what the problem was. Some errors from event viewer are below. Is it a hard disk space problem. There was 2.5gb free on C before I rebooted Thanks The server was unable to allocate from the system nonpaged pool because the pool was empty. - Lots of these !! The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur. The shadow copy of volume F: could not be created due to insufficient non-paged memory pool for a bitmap structure.

Hi all, Might sound a stupid question. On some computers in school (All XP) our movie maker version is 2.1.4028 and some is 2.1.4027. A pupil has done a movie on 4028 and It won't open on 4027. I have tried installing SP3 but still the same. Any ideas how to get the updated version ? Thanks

Hi, Had someone who has uninstalled the USB drivers from a laptop (not in a school). When I try to reinstall the drivers It can locate them but I get the message: "This operation requires an interactive window station". I have removed Macafee incase that was stopping it but still the same. Any ideas please ? Thanks
