No its a HP mate

Hi Occasionally the fans in our server rev up to max !! When I remote to the server and have a look, the cpu's are working hard but it doesn't show what processes are using it -- I'm presuming someone is doing a search for files etc as that usually causes it to rev up. Is there a way to see who / what is making it do it ? Thanks

We just use the iphone configuration utility as we don't have a mac in school. Just disabled things like app store, game center etc

HI We have about 8 ipads that can be used by different departments. If you have used apps like notability, how can they get the files off ? I'm tempted to set up an email account that they can use to email the work to there own account. Any other suggestions ? For photos I've just installed the apple driver on the machine rather than itunes so it shows up like a camera.

we've had exa now since I started this thread. Never had a problem with them. Connection is 99% reliable and school is in a rural area. As its uncontended we have no issue with speed at all. We don't use the AD integration, just broadband, filtering and email. Pupil mail is well laid out, staff mail is ok. Filtering is easy to use. They've been great - and always answer phone within 2 rings

Just had a thought, as its mainly for 1 specific user, I could make them administrator, change the settings, then make them pupil again .

HI, On 2 of our machines I have set the zoom size for the resolution to be 125% and also the mouse pointer to be larger. However this only works for administrator. Is there a way to do it for everyone ? Thanks

Hi, Does anyone know if its possible to check whether a user has read a document or not ? Basically when we save a shared document on a shared drive EG risk assessments, it would be nice to see if staff have read them. Might not be possible but just a thought,

Hi all, We don't have SIMS at our school so do staff cover manually. Does anyone know any ways of managing this better than an excel sheet for every day. Its to: 1. help see if there are any patterns of absence, reasons, times of year etc to help plan in a more strategic way 2. draw up feedback reports for SLT and staff when we consider fairness (for example, in fairness for additional payments, fairness for loss of non contacts etc etc). 3. help see if particular subjects or year groups are more affected – to see if there is any correlation between higher rates of cover and lack of progress etc 4. enable us to produce simple reports for governors when looking at additional staffing costs etc I'm thinking of writing an Access database Thanks

Hi, Has anyone successfully locked down ipads to pupils can't change backgrounds etc. ? Is there a tool to to this. iPhone configuration looks basic. I can't use Apple Configurator as we don't have any OSX devices in school. Thanks

Hi I have put a reg file I need to run at logon into HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\current version \run The file does the job but when a user logs on they get a message saying "adding information can unintentially break the registry etc ... do they want to continue". Is there a way to hide this? I know if you do it as a batch file you can add the silent option. I've added it as a string value in the registry, is there any way to do this silently ? Thanks

Hi We redirect documents via group policy. It is set to "map to users home drive". They also get there home directory via logon script. Got a few issues where when they go to Computer, it shows the mapped drive. There P;/ drive is shown as network drive, rather than "user on server". They can access some of their files but some are greyed out and have a cross next to them. Its says "this folder is unavailable" Any ideas? Thanks

Hi On our windows 7 machines (RM ONE), if we open a website that has video, it takes an age to load (by that I mean like 10 minutes). Log on as admin, works no problem. I've set internet options to allow loading of scripts etc. No ISA server or anything running that may block it. Any other ideas? Thanks

OK, after a bit of research its seems to be specific to the "secondary" AD OU. The error in event log is :1085 Windows failed to apply the Folder Redirection settings. Folder Redirection settings might have its own log file. Please click on the "More information" link.

Hi I've got a computer that dual boots. With Windows XP it reads disks fine. When I boot in Windows 7 you can see the drive in my computer. When you insert a disk, it just sits there spinning. Doesn't load. The drive in my computer shows a blank disk. Just fitted an external dvd drive to it via USB and that does exactly the same so its not the drive. Any ideas? Thanks

They've all got that on though and the others work fine. Thats just syncing the desktop and start menu to the redirected folder

Hi all We have recently put some Windows 7 PC's on network and having an odd issue. When a pupil logs onto a computer, they sometimes can't access there documents. The drive is mapped, but it says doesn't have access to it (screen shot attached). Its happening more often on 1 PC, but when staff logon its fine. I've also found that when it does it, they have permission to save to a shared drive, which they don't if it logs them on properly. Any ideas? I've re-added PC to domain but still does the same.
